The Day That Changed My Life

It was a warm Perfect Day in the middle of spring. My name is Elsie Lavell. I am 14 years old. This is my story. I was sitting on my porch swing reading Harry Potter for the billionth time. Suddenly my phone rang. I took it out of my pocket and looked at the screen. The caller ID said Lisha. Uh-oh. This could not be good which I promised you'd only call me from work there was an emergency. And Lish did not take her job as a nurse lightly. Her idea of an emergency and my idea of an emergency were two totally different things. Then I thought of her moment the only reason she would be calling is because of Grandma who was in the emergency room. My beloved granny who had taken care of me since I was little. I picked up the phone.

"Elsie! Come as fast as you can!! Grandma was killed!!!"

I just sat, staring wide-eyed at the screen, unable to comprehend what the words implied. Suddenly, I snapped out of my trance-like state, and grabbed my bike. There was a bike trail that went by the hospital, I would just take that, it made more sense than waiting for mother to get home...

"Oh no!!" I gasped. I realized that I had no way to get ahold of mother. I devided to leave her a note. I scribbled on a sticky note. I wrote " Mother, I'll be back soon, went to see Auntie Lish. Love, Elsie.

There! That should be fine, considering that mom doesnt call Lish to ask what's wrong... That would be really bad. If granny really is dead, I need to be the one who tells Mother.
