The Camp War: The Camp War Chapter 3: Natural Instinct

by Generation Sect

Generation Sect A story about a hidden camp for Pokemon that have had bad lives, tucked away in Petalburg Forest. Soon however, a friendly war starts between halves of the camp, that may not be as friendly as anyone thinks.
Shadow was wandering the forest, trying his best to find something he could eat. He was crafty, and would always find a way to eat more than his fill. But the current stalemate meant that food was scarce, and he had been sentenced, I mean tasked, with gathering food for Mantine and the baby Pokemon she looked after. It had been generally agreed that Mantine's nursery was untouchable, territory belonging to no-one. Both leaders could agree on this at least. The woods north of the Left side of the village were winding and dark, and he finally found himself in an open clearing, with some small, wrinkly trees, with one that seemed to be more solid and blocky than the rest. One tree in the middle had a large, shiny round Apple, with a bright crimson colour. He was surprised such a wretched looking tree could ever bear fruit. He snuck, light on his feet, trying not to touch any other trees, reaching the middle tree, with a break of sunlight shining over the tree like a spotlight, breaking through the roof of trees. He felt like he should treat it with respect, oddly enough, and reached up with his jaw, plucking it from the tree with a loud snap.

"Come on baby, you can do it, drink the milk from the bottle." Cooed Maya sweetly, attempting to calm down the rather snappy Lugia child in front of her. It had hatched from an egg found outside the camp, and no-one was quite sure what it was, except that it had a bad temperament, an even worse bite and was too weak to even carry itself properly. The baby Pokemon attempted to crawl across the floor, using it's stubby wings as arms, his legs too short to properly support him. He eventually reached the Mantine, and suckled from the milk-filled bottle she kept underneath her wing like a Remoraid. He had been named Tempest after the abrupt storms he caused when he hadn't got what he wanted. Maya liked to think he had grown out of it, but he was still pretty snappy at times. He eventually finished drinking, when suddenly the entire nursery jumped to the sound of a Mightyena smashing through the door, gradually limping in and falling to the floor weak, drained. Mantine inspected him, noticing that he had multiple marks like huge nettle stings underneath his heavily matted fur, his eyes flashing open. "See what happens when I try to do one nice thing." He snarked, as his eyes flickered with life and gradually closed again. Maya floated out the door to see a group of oddly placed dead-looking trees, with one blocky and rock-like tree among them. "These... Weren't here before..." She puzzled, as the roots of the trees suddenly started to retract from the ground, throwing up soil with them, except from the odd tree. She noticed the apple held by Shadow, and the band of Trevenants slowly advancing towards her flickered open there lone, red eyes.

The Trevenant continued to advance. The leader was just about to reach attacking distance when Tempest seemed to be upset with the lack of attention given to him, pushing a Tailwind out of the door simply by flapping his stubby wings. The tree Pokemon started to be slowed, when all of a sudden Shadow jumped back to life, grabbing the lead Trevenant by the roots with a Firefang attack, the fire starting to advance up it's body slowly cooking it as he refused to let go of his grip. Maya hovered mid air in shock as the Trevenant slowly burnt to a crisp, reduced to ashes that were quickly whipped away by the violent winds. Tempest was starting to get tired, and stopped flapping, the other Trevenants resuming at their old pace putting much more vigour into their movements. About 8 of them were left, and Shadow seemed weakened by the Horn Leech attacks he had taken, he would not be able to fight back for long. As the Trevenant surrounded all exits, moving closer, a huge figure, a metal coated Escavalier, with a visor hanging from his helm, loomed into view from the forest, at the same time as a squid like Pokemon also burst through, draped in a cloak. The Escavalier threw a Megahorn attack the way of one Trevenant, punching straight through it's eye, while the Malamar fired a Dark Pulse off towards two Trevenant near the back, knocking them to the floor. Mentra laughed at Percival. "Funny to find you here." Percival used Drill Run, throwing back three Trevenant, as he replied. "I have a job, and we have a truce here." Mentra was about to fire back when a Trevenant jumped up into her face, preparing a Horn Leech, with a reactionary Peck crushing it in two. As the two argued, the final Trevenant snuck up behind Mentra, preparing a Horn Leech attack.

However, the Trevenant was swiftly picked up by a Sudowoodo. It was the odd tree from before! Holding the Pokemon above it's head, it threw it far away to the Right side of the camp. "Su, Suwoo, Suwudoo!" It shouted. The Sudowoodo then wandered away into the forest, quickly disappearing from sight. "I believe those came from your side." Percival snarked. Mentra looked away. "You can be sure I didn't send them. I'm not one to violate rules." The two walked their separate ways. Shadow finally woke back up. He had some bad marks under his fur, and he was tired, but he was alive. Maya hovered over. He had stayed at the nursery to help out for the day. He figured it was the best he could do. "It just occurred to me. What did you cause all this trouble trying to get?" Maya questioned. Shadow laughed, as he let a small, round and red apple fall from his mouth. They both laughed, while Tempest helped himself to the apple.
