:: An Abundance of Platinums: - Steeling the Show

by Platinum_

Platinum_ Platinum, Steel Type Gym Leader.
A decently well known young Leader around Johto for being as fairly hyperactive and as intense as the type of metal he masters in. Hinting in his name, he and his family have had a love for Steel type pokemon, and a passion for battling. Platinum is known for his somewhat intense battles, due to his absolute refusal to simply hand over a badge to an undeserving trainer.

He often sets out on side adventures to fill the bore whenever his Gym activity is slow, and is definitely an interesting character to be around - his personality clashing with his motives call for quite the battle, life, and friend!

[ For my OC | Platinum - Gym Leader | ]
"WAAAAAAHOOOOOO!!!!" Called the strikingly silver-white headed 17 year old after hearing a loud and pompous knock on the Gym's doors. "Send 'em in, George!"

Platinum stood with a wide grin on his face, a pokeball gripped eagerly behind his back. His eyes seemed to flare, and the little excitement rose that he always got before someone challenged him for the prestigious 6th Tier Mineral Badge. The smell of newly shaved metal lingered in the air of the large dome-shaped gym, which he had an odd pleasure of. Platinum's small platoon of disciples, the gym trainers, all had stopped their training at the recognizable sound of their leader preparing for a challenge.

"Right away, Leader Platinum." Responded a butler type of man, wearing a monocle. He was somewhat of a gym assistant, hired by Platinum's family to help around things that needed to be tended to within the Gym.

The older gentlemen pressed open the large metallic double doors of the building and welcomed in a beady-eyed male, who didn't look much younger than Platinum himself. George began following behind the Trainer as he made his way down the long and narrow isle towards the large platform that Platinum awaited on. The Trainer noticed all types of statues of Steel-type Pokemon on either side of the isle, and he too received a quick waft of fresh metal. Finally arriving to the platform, all of the Gym Trainers' eyes on him, he stood before Platinum a decent amount of space away, and gave a very quick and energetic bow before hastily speaking.

"Hello, Gym Leader Platinum! I am Jake from Littleroot town, and I have come to challenge you!!!" He called, thrusting a pointer finger in Platinum's direction.

The young Leader smirked, his eyes closed, until suddenly flying open, repeating the same eager movement that Jake had made. His arm was thrusted forwards, but this time with the Pokeball that he had clenched in his hand, facing the challenger.

"Gladly, I will accept your challenge. Allow us to begin!"

And with that, the old butler threw up both arms, announcing the battle would be a 2 on 2, with substitutions only available to the challenger. He adjusted his eye-glass wear, and commenced a countdown. Once the words 'Begin!' escaped his lips, both Platinum and the boy had thrown their pokeballs onto the field before them. Bursting from the boy's spherical device was a Houndoom, strong and quite healthy looking. Emerging forth from Platinum's was the levitating magnet Pokemon, Magneton. Both Pokemon fiercely called out their names, examining the other.

"Ah! I have to tell you, I'm impressed! It's obvious you have raised your Houndoom quite excellently and were smart to research type advantages! This oughtta be fun." Platinum commented, "Alright, first move is all yours!"

"Alrighty Houndoom, lets start with Inferno!"

Immediately, the large Dark Pokemon roared and released a spiraling pillar of fire from its mouth. As it drew closer to Magneton, the magnetic Pokemon raised itself upwards, quickly avoiding the flame.

"Counter with Thunderbolt!" Platinum called out.

The ends of Magneton's body then began charging up electricity, and then quickly fired out in unison a lightning bolt at Houndoom. The challenger had then called for Houndoom to leap, in which it did - successfully avoiding the attack as well. He then ordered for it to use Crunch, causing Houndoom's fangs to glow a dark aura and bite deeply on to Magneton once he reached it in the air. The attack caused a machinery dysfunctional sound to emit from Magneton in pain. Houndoom kept it's tight grip as the two fell back to the ground, however Platinum thought quickly.

Throwing his arm out to the side, he calmly called to his Pokemon. "Magneton, Flash Cannon!"

Suddenly, the two were lit up as a blinding white light had exploded in the field, blasting Houndoom back and causing it to stumble a bit before regaining on all fours.

"Now Magneton, Metal Sound!" Platinum added, Magneton spinning the magnets outlining its body, causing a near ear-splitting sound.

Both Jake and his Houndoom had covered their heads into their heads, attempting to block the sound. Houndoom's defense was lowered as it was distracted. The opposing boy was able to regain some stature, though, and aimed his palm out at his Pokemon.

"Quick Houndoom, Howl and Fire Spin!!"

Houndoom had then raised back to its confident position and howled loudly, draining out Metal Sound and raising its own offensive ability, before charging forwards and beginning to rotate, immense fire surrounding him. However, it then leaped backwards gracefully out of the attack, the fire continuing to spin rapidly and slam into Magneton. It was incredibly effective, causing Magneton to wince in pain and be blasted backwards. It was able to catch itself, but not without a noticeable singe on its side.

"Aha! Nice!" Platinum called. "You got a pretty strong hit! Our turn," he continued, "Use Sonic Boom! Rapid!"

Magneton called out its name before shooting out multiplying sonic shock waves that were almost too quick for the eye to track. The pulses slammed into Houndoom, knocking it backwards pretty harshly. But the Houndoom had returned with Flamethrower at the demand of Jake, and the tons of flames bursted forth. However Platinum had Magneton counter with thunderbolt once more. The attacks clashed, and amidst the smoke Magneton has flew quickly towards Houndoom in the hope of being cloaked.

"Not so fast! Houndoom, Overheat!!!" The boy called out.

It was evident that Houndoom was beginning to have a hard time drawing in much power, but the black fur outlining his body began to emit incredibly hot flames, before it's entire body finally bursting with brilliant flames in all directions as soon as Magneton got close. A mixture of flames, electricity, and smoke all kicked up around the battle field. Platinum rose an arm to shield it eyes from the smoke and immense heat that was able to be felt all over the room.

After it all cleared and settled, Houndoom was seen slightly shaking in attempt to remain upright, and Magneton on the ground, fainted. Jake was surprised, and leaped with a smile, thanking the Houndoom. Platinum grinned, holding out a pokeball, returning the Magnet creature.

"I'm impressed." He admitted, gripping a different pokeball this time. "Now let's see how you fare in round two! Go Brozong!"

With a toss of the spherical ball, the large deep blue metallic 'Bronze Ball' Pokemon appeared in a flashing light. It levitated also, and looked deeply into the eyes of its opponent.

"Alright, Houndoom, this one's in the bag! Its psychic type as well, we have the complete upper hand!" The opposing trainer said with much confidence. "Use Shadow Ball!"

"Not quite, don't be so hasty! Brozong - Protect!"

The large shadow energy ball went hurling from Houndoom's mouth at Brozong, but was quickly faltered by a large aurora screen that had appeared before it. With a smirk, Platinum then called for a move that was completely unexpected.

"Now, Earthquake!"

Before Jake could do anything but widen his eyes, the ground began to shake violently and erupt with earth spikes slamming forcefully into Houndoom, one after the other. The Houndoom was then knocked unconscious, due to both the type disadvantage and used up energy from the last battle. Jake returned his Houndoom, before gazing at the next pokeball he drew from his belt.

"We're both down to one Pokemon. Your next choice decides the match. Which will you choose?" Platinum spoke aloud, excitement rising in his voice. This opponent was a talented battler, and most likely had a plethora of type advantages in his arsenal, but Platinum never lost spirit in a fight...ever.

"Alright then - Come on out, Lucario!" Jake replied, releasing the tough fighting type.

"Interesting choice. I guess this is anyone's fight then." Platinum said, strategies flying through his head.

Both Brozong and Lucario charged towards eachother, battle cries emitting from both of them. Platinum and his challenger both looked eachother in the eyes, preparing.

"LETS GO!!" Both battler's said in unison, raising their fists.
