Imagine trying to climb a tree, when suddenly the branch you are clinging on snaps. With no pokemon to catch you or break your fall, you break your arm. Children should be allowed to get a pokemon with their parent's permission because it could protect them, be their friend, and allow the children to explore the world.
One reason children should be able to get a pokemon whenever is because it could protect them. Like I explained before, who is going to save you when you could get hurt. I am almost positive your parents aren't going to baby you forever, so who will protect you? Your pokemon of course! Pokemon are very loyal. Ash's pikachu has never left his side, and he always protects him! This is just one reason there should be no age limit.
Another reason could be that pokemon share a special bond with you. Ash's pikachu is his best friend for crying out loud! Pokemon really care about their trainers and will do anything for them! They even let themselves get in fights that they might not want to participate in! Did you ever think about that? I know I have. It breaks my heart when one of my pokemon faints because I know that it was trying its best, but even then it was overwhelmed. Pokemon can be a child's best friend.
One of the most important reasons for a kid to get a pokemon is that fact that legally, the will be able to go on their journey! This is important to anyone! Would you like to sit on your butt all day and do nothing? I know I don't! How else are kids going to be able to battle people, earn money, and eventually get a chance at being the new champion? They sure won't if they can't have a pokemon!
