Chapter 15- Secret Tunnel?

The next morning, Sara walked around the castle realizing that something was missing.“Is that lady going to come back?”

“She will sooner or later, yes.”

“Why didn’t she stay the night?”

“She was jealous of you.”

“Jealous of me? Isn’t that lady married?”

“She is, but that doesn’t mean that she can’t be jealous. It’s in her nature.”

“How long have you known her?”

“A very long time, but it’s all history now.”

“So childhood friends?”

“Somewhat like that, yes.”

“You must have had an amazing childhood.”

“Honestly, my childhood ended way earlier than it should’ve.

“When you were 10, I heard you went to war.”

He nodded. “That’s right. Wait, who told you that?”

She couldn’t bear to mention Rafael again, so she decided, why not blame Mercy? “Mercy did.”

He started mumbling, and then Cecil popped out of nowhere and covered her ears. Sara tried to move his hand, but his grip was too strong. It took a good minute, but once Sai was done mumbling, Cecil let go of his hand.

“Are we going to do anything today?”

“Nothing much today, as I feel like relaxing. I’m going to ask Cecil to go back to town for some more goods, but that’s about all the activity today.”

Sai said the usual, as there wasn’t much to do anymore in the castle anyways. “I see then. I guess I’ll be reading in my room.”

“Your room? That seems a bit odd, as you usually read in the library.”

“Change is nice after time, you know!~”

“Ah, alright, I won’t disturb you when you’re reading, alright?”

“Thanks!” Sara hugged Sai, and gave him a little kiss, and then ran to her room.

Sai was red as an apple. “What was that?”

Cecil smiled, and formatted his response in the best way possible.“That my lord, was love.”

“Well, it’s a mysterious thing.”
---
Sara opened the secret tunnel, and went to the same place as before, where that man was. He seemed so normal, instead of the two mysterious doofuses that she had to deal with every day. But she loved those two, don’t get her wrong, but it felt nice to meet someone else. She sat on a rock.

She heard footsteps running, closer and closer to her. She got up from the rock, and was about to run when she saw the man from yesterday. She was petrified, and his words didn’t help her state of panic. “It’s you! Wait, I just want to talk!”

She started to raise her voice, and his voice became even softer.“Talk about what?”

“I want to thank you.”

“That’s it? That’s not waiting forever. I’m leaving.”

“Don’t leave, please!”

“Why?”

“You’re the first girl-friend I have.”

She chuckled at how desperate he was.“I am? You’re the first boy-friend I have.”

“Then we should be friends.”

She chuckled even louder.“Us? Friends?”

“You can’t reject a person you’ve just met!”

“Fine, but we won’t go anywhere. You’ll meet me here every day, and we’ll just talk here.”

“Fine. I don’t plan to go anywhere with you, you know.”

“I don’t trust you.”

“Then why did you save me?”

Her scream flew off a couple birds resting in the nearby tree, “I didn’t save you! It was just a coincidence that we met.”

He shook his head, and denied her last statement. “You did.”

She ran off, back to the castle. “I’ll see you later then.” What in the world was she thinking?
----
Sai ripped the letter out of the book he was reading, and looked at the letter with astonishment. “So this was it! He knew?”

Dear Sai,

Well, I guess you found this letter. Great job.

I want you to destroy this castle by burning it. Once you’re done, nothing should remain. And yes, I mean nothing. That girl has brought chaos to everyone, yet you still love her. Burn that girl with the castle.

---Asher

“What the hell? He knew?” Sai now tore the letter in pieces, and threw it on the ground.

“Lord Sai? What’s the matter?”

“He knew about this.”

“Who knew?”

He whispered, “Asher.”

“Sire, you still have to respect your late father, it’s just not right saying his name like that.”

“He knew about her!”

“Sara? That’s impossible.”

“Read it!”

He read the letter, and his mouth dropped lower and lower in shock. “How in the world?”

“I don’t know what to do.”

Cecil replied instantly.“Destroy it, like he said.”

Sai yelled, “I can’t do that! If I only found this sooner, everything could’ve been better!”

Cecil smiled. “Lord Sai, when Mercy comes again, we’ll go back to the castle, and find clues.”

There were silent tears on Sai’s face. “Can I bring Sara with me?”

“Why sire? She’s human; she should belong with the humans.”

He trailed off, “I know, but…”

Cecil reassured him.“You’re the lord, you shouldn’t ask a humble servant, such as I. Make the decisions yourself.”

“You know what, I will! I won’t let her out of my sight after she leaves that room, even if I go mad!” He smiled, and put his thumb in the air for approval.

“You’re so overbearing.”

He smiled.“Isn’t that what a father's supposed to be?”
Kimaka likes this.
