Volcanic Tribes: Search for the Child

by navycalamity

navycalamity Aside from the series' usual cryptic one liner of a summary, you now know that I am indeed rebooting this series. Yaaay~
Chief, the oldest Kantonian Cubone, and two more Marowak were searching through a sparse section of grass when one of the two Marowak came upon a bar-patterned feather. Chief took it and examined it thoughtfully, confirming it was a Fletchinder's before ordering everyone to split up and search in different directions, himself taking the most likely northern route while the other three split up.

The female climbed down a rocky slope, grumbling a little. Her club was lodged into the nostril holes of her helmet, an annoyance because of how difficult it was now to see what her hands were meant to hold. Not only that, but wearing her tools like this was uncomfortable. She couldn't remember the last time her club was out of her hand, or the helmet being crooked. Spotting her destination, a section of rock jutting out below, the Cubone let go, smirking when her legs safely hit the ground.

"Tracking, tracking..." She mumbled to herself, taking a couple moments to grip her club securely, more certain of herself now that her weapon was were it belonged. A quick scan of the ground for more feathers or anything revealed only a Pyukumuku which she knew to avoid from Chief's advice. After skirting around the innocent appearing creature, she heard a bird's cry from nearby; hopefully speeding around the corner just showed a Magby hissing at two Fletchling. Sighing frustratedly, she was about to pass the three of them until the Magby said something unintelligible clearly directed at her.

"What do you want." The Cubone snapped, not in the mood for wasting time to chit-chat with someone while her brother was missing. Magby spat what was presumably lava on the ground before repeating itself. "Ya kinda look like that other thing that walked past not too long ago." His gurgling accent was hard to comprehend, but Cubone could tell through the bits and pieces she could understand what Magby was trying to say. "He's my brother. Did you see him with a bird like that one, but bigger?" Magby squinted at the pair of Fletching in his charge, looking to have as much trouble with her speech as she was with his. Finally, it nodded and spat again. "Yes. Not completely like you, though. Different tail. Stripe down his back." Cubone nodded thankfully and turned to follow her little brother's steps, not returning the goodbye her helper shouted.

Although since @Kragn is the only person that reads this, I doubt if continuing would be a good idea.
