Run

by Shiny Blue Gardevoir

Shiny Blue Gardevoir Run. Run. I won't go back to that place. I won't let them take me back. I have to run, as far away as I can...
It's the dead of night. The waves gently lap the surface of Hano beachfront's soft white sand. No one can see me, except the few pyukumuku, who've dared to wriggle to the shore.

And that's the way I want it to stay.

I don't know how long I've been running for, but honestly, I don't care. My legs are burning. My body is aching, from the many attacks I've had to launch to protect myself. But I'll keep running, until she realises that she's never getting me back.

"Luna! There you are!"

I almost jump out of my skin, at the sound of her voice. It fills me with a dread unlike any other. But I shake it off, and I carry on, not even looking at her.

Oh, I'm sorry. Who's she? She was my trainer.

"Luna, it's getting late," she says, with a sunny, high-pitched voice, "We need to rest up, so we can go beat that trial tomorrow. So please, won'tcha come back now?"

I don't acknowledge her. I don't even toss a sarcastic 'Lycanroc'! at her. She thinks that I care about her stupid dreams of being the island challenge champion? What a joke.

She stops in her tracks. "Luna, please!" she sighs, "Just come back, like a good girl. I'll give you some pokebeans if you do!"

I almost want to laugh, at that comment. Pokebeans? As if she thinks that I'll return to a life of slavery, because of some silly little treats.

My story is the same as any other captured pokemon; I was just strolling around on Ten Carat Hill, minding my own business, when she and her popplio jumped me, beat me up, and put me in a portable prison, otherwise known as a pokeball. Sure, she thought she could win my affection with pokebeans, and petting, but how do sweets make up for the fact that she kidnapped me, and forced me to do her bidding?

So, the first chance I got, I decided to run away. I tried sneaking out, but unluckily for me, she woke up, and went after me. At first, she thought I was just nervous about the trial. But now she knows what's really happening. She knows that I'm running away. And she won't let me go.

Steadily, her patience is wearing thin. "Luna! You're my pokemon, and you have to do what I say!" she cries, "You have to come back, now!"

I still don't reply.

"LUNA!"

I keep running.

"COME BACK!"

I dive behind a rock.

"Alright, if you won't come back, I'll have to take you back by force!"

I watch as she reaches into her bag. Unfortunately for her, the only pokemon she has with her is her salandit. But still, she sends it out, and orders it to apprehend me, or 'get me to calm down.'

I look behind me. I've reached a cliff face. There's nowhere to run. Now, I have to fight for my freedom.

She orders a flamethrower. I counter with accelerock. The wretched creature takes the hit, and faints instantly.

She reaches into her pocket. There are no more pokeballs. She has no power over me now, especially not that dreaded popplio.

I look at her. I give a victorious smile.

"Luna..." she says, "Please, Luna. You're my pokemon, and I'm your trainer! You have to come back."

I shake my head. I have to go back to Ten Carat Hill. I have to look after my pups. I have to care for the member of my pack, who's expecting a litter. I have better things to do than babysit some bratty human child.

I turn away.

She begins to tremble. "Luna, we're supposed to be friends!" she cried, "We're supposed to defeat the island challenge, and become champions! Don't you want that?"

I want that as much as I want a hole in my head.

I walk calmly away. She watches me, with tears in her eyes. I'm not her slave anymore. I'm free.

"Luna...Please...Wait!"
