Terrater Canon: Remnants of the Past: The First Era

by Dwayna DragonFire

Dwayna DragonFire How the world known as Terrater was created, and the rule of Obsidian DragonFire.
In the beginning, it was said that The Source created all things, including two siblings. One was a dragon, formidable in power and ruling over the elements. The other was a mechanical construct, advanced far beyond the comprehension of any that yet lived. Within the scope of the place that they had available to them, they found a large fracture in time and space.

The construct named Uriel felt that this should be fixed, and created an army of mechanical children to do so. When they were finished healing what they could of the tear, another being burst forth. A woman that controlled chaotic forces of magic greeted them, introducing herself as their sister, Terrater. She wanted to help to change the remnants of the tear into something else - a realm that could be a bastion of peace amongst the stars. But she could not do it alone; her siblings would need to help her.

Atonis the dragon had the building blocks to create a world, so with the help of its brother and sister they made a planet with four moons; connected to the four elemental planes of Air, Earth, Fire and Water. The four 'suns' that would light the world were also planes of a sort – they would represent time, cold, and the forces of positive and negative energy. The planet itself, which would be named for the woman that burst from the original tear, would represent the Spirit of the realm and be directly connected to the realm of Shadow – where everything was like a mirror, but different from what actually existed.

Terrater the planet had everything but life, so Uriel had his children build a gigantic artifact; a building filled with portals that would go outside to other realms, so that others could see the beautiful creation they had made together. In a way, this was also a temple to the three siblings, whom would be deities unto the realm that had been made. Inside the solar system, Atonis made a smaller planet for those of his kind to reside, naming it Draconia for its residents. All known dragons could be born there, but Atonis wanted to use his knowledge to create a new species as well.

The Spirit Dragons were so named because they drew their magic from their souls, and they were able to tap into not only the four elements from the moons of Terrater, but also Spirit itself for purposes of healing. However, one could also tap into the darker aspects of Spirit if they so wished; raising the dead or using other dark necromancy. Obsidian was the first of the Spirit Dragons, and she was the first to be named a DragonFire. Her scales were as black as the void, and her eyes were a vibrant and dark purple. She had a large, circular gem on her chest that was similarly purple to her eyes, but glowed different colors with the magics she would learn to use over her lifetime.

Needing someone to help rule over the peoples of Terrater and keep them in check, Obsidian was asked by Uriel himself if she would take the position. She graciously accepted, helping to build the foundations of the society as she and other Spirit Dragons explored the realms and brought other people back to Terrater. An invasion of a bipedal ant race came from underground, trying to take Terrater for themselves. Obsidian, having now amassed a good amount of people helped to drive them off for at least a time, sat victorious. She had five children over the next several years with a dragon whose name was lost to time. Each child harboring within them a different element, her firstborn son of Spirit was named Orn for the silver gleam on his emerald scales. Her other children were named similarly for their scale hues; Olathyukin for the brown Earth, Aussir for the white clouds of Air, Ulhartiki with sapphire scales of Water, and Sililos the son of Fire, glimmering purple against crimson.

Almost forgotten was the realm of Shadow, where a dark master known as the Hidden Lord was plotting to take over the bastion of hope known as Terrater.
