Recording... 1-4-5... Testng... Testing...: Recording... 1-4-5... Testing... Testing... (Chapter 3 and 4)

by ThePieLord

ThePieLord The results of the aftermath of the first half. The tone and mood of the story shifts, but what happened is not forgotten.
“Recording… 1… 3… 5… Testing… Testing…

Is this thing working? Hello? Hello-o-o? I’m just going to assume this thingy is working. What did they call it… a recorder, right? I’ll just call it that.

Hello, world! I am Asier, or that is what I’m naming myself as. Floatzel just seems like a boring name, right? Don’t you want something new, or something like that? I’m not sure. Nicknames are a very odd thing, because you usually don’t say your nickname repeatedly. Just your species…

At least, not until now! All of those silly humans are gone. It’s just us now. Though, I do know that all the domesticated guys are probably very offended, or very saddened by their trainer’s death. But does that really matter? We’re replacing them now. And we will never work under their rule no longer!

Oh boy, this is so exciting! What’s even better is that we all don’t have to use body language anymore! I don’t have to turn my head millions of times, I don’t have to cross my arms, or spit at the ground, or anything! We can all understand each other from what the humans called… ‘Language.’ It’s a bit weird, but we all could think of our decisions before, and the curing of our organs made us more intelligent, more great, more powerful! Just think about it, alright?

Asier out!”

Asier, the Floatzel who just recently eliminated humans off the globe, smiled in glee as he undid the knots and ropes that constricted him from dancing in joy. Now that he was free, then he could dance around in utter joy, like a little cotton swab stuck in the air. How nice…

Fortunately, he had formed back into his previous form of a Floatzel, before being oddly deformed. The only things that were the same was the raft addition being completely gone, and his face also felt younger, less sharp. Perhaps he was majorly cured from the blast of greyness himself?

But nevertheless, Asier had to leave this forsaken laboratory sooner or later. Once he left, he laughed again. He tried to play the recording, and he cheered once he heard it. But, once he returned to the outside world, he realized how foggy it was. All he could make out was the water in the distance, the sidewalk he had stepped on, and the wall that was next to him. Asier also realized how tall the laboratory was, upon looking at the roof. It was about four stories high, and was taller than some of the trees that laid next to it. “How long have those humans been testing on my kind?” Asier sighed, glancing at the recorder.

He abandoned his site of mourning and walked against the sidewalk. But, he saw something peculiar. An enormous group of Pokemon, of all shapes and sizes, migrated to a spot inside the nearest town. Asier gasped, and he only continued to upon seeing the swarms of aquatic Pokemon carrying foreign Pokemon from other regions to the same spot. Curious, Asier followed the gigantic group into a town plaza.

There, Asier sat amongst a huge cluster of Pokemon, of all shapes and sizes. They all stood in front of a hulking statue of a divine god, shaped like a llama but as glorious as the sun. The stone crumbled away, revealing a godlike llama, sporting dark red eyes and bearing golden accessories, one of those including a giant golden ring that wrapped around his chest. Every Pokemon cheered as if they were in a gladiator arena, but they weren’t oddly timed names of their species. They were extremely reminiscent to a human’s cheer, and the pitches of their voice differed. “So it seems that mass extinction has finally begun for the humans. But now, we shall replace them.” This godlike Pokemon spoke, named Arceus. “But, I found it inevitable. Their scientific research could only lead to explosives, and their advancement in explosives would end up--”

“Er, excuse me… Arceus.” Asier spoke up. The other crowd of Pokemon gasped, some of them shouting gibberish. Arceus didn’t mind the interruption, though. “Do you have something to say, Floatzel?”

“I do, but please, I’d be honored to stand with you.” Asier stated. “Otherwise, everyone else wouldn’t hear what I shall say.”

“Well, then please… stand with me.” Arceus smiled, and Asier humbly stepped onto the stone platform with the god of Pokemon.

“Although some of us would expect the humans to be gone due to their own bidding, but really, it was what they did to us Pokemon that did the real damage.” Asier began, “I was one of the many tested Pokemon, despite their being laws passed to make this testing illegal. Humans do not follow rules, they see what they can do to get around them, or to test them. But we Pokemon… we can change that. I think that if they think of us as toys, then let’s act like they are toys, thrown away in the trash! No longer will we be treated like rambunctious fools, but they, the ones who tested on us, have now felt our wrath. But we should not destroy what they made, we should instead, replace them.”

“And how do you plan on doing that?” A squeaky voice from the crowd hollered.

“Easy.” Asier replied. “If we are to replace them, then we are to act like them. Our bodies have improved, specifically, the insides of our bodies improved. We should put our new communicative abilities and IQ to the test, and keep the nonexistent humans… with what they have done to themselves.”

“Huh… I like you.” Arceus smiled. “We shall do what he has declared! I believe we will all strive this away, and not only that, our arsenal of natural abilities will make us a much more superior race to rule this place. Now… let’s continue mankind’s footsteps and create a much, much, much, much, much better world than what it would inevitably be from under the rule of humans… oh dear, that was a mouthful. Anyways, good luck, and remember, I will alway be watching!”

And with that, Arceus was gone in an explosion of yellow, glorious light. Asier smiled with a relieved sigh as he stepped off the platform, and tons of other Pokemon surrounded him, smiling and asking questions. But Asier didn’t listen to them. Instead, he snuck out of the crushing crowd of fur and scales, only to find a beautiful, strong, bear-like creature, standing at about 6 feet and eleven inches, towering over the much smaller Asier. “You were the one who gave that speech up there, right?” The mysterious Bewear asked.

“Yes… I was. Are you going to question me like everyone else here?” Asier beamed, not kind with all of the attention he was receiving.

“Come with me.” She smiled, grabbing his paw. Curious, Asier allowed her to drag him into the unknown.

. . .

Unexpectedly, Asier was Brutally Swung into the sand of some sort of beach. He looked at the ocean, most of it covered by the fog. The sun wasn’t even visible in the harsh mist. Melachantly, the Bewear stepped up to the fallen Asier, and lifted him up with her. “Let me play something for you.” She spoke.

A lone radio was left in the sand, and her paw simply pressed on the Play button that the radio had. With that press, a piano-driven song began to play. The song was slow, and had a nice melody with it. A voice played along with the piano, meshing together a wondrous song about how confusing emotions were, but sang in a way that wasn’t sad, but a relaxing, yet heartbreaking way. “My name is Cas, or at least, that was what my caretaker called me.” The Bewear greeted, holding both of Asier’s paws with hers. “She always watched this show about some boy with this gem on his chest, and these other beings called Gems. It was a great thing to watch, and the best thing about it was the credits, as they called it. This… is the song that plays in those credits.”

“It’s a nice song…” Asier agreed. Cas giggled, and took a step with her left foot backwards, and Asier followed along. “I want to do something with you. I’ve only done this with humans before, so this is… a little weird.”

“Don’t worry,” Asier smiled, not wanting to be rude, “go on ahead and show me what you’re about to do. I’ll just follow along.”

“Hehe… thank you.” Cas gingerly laughed, and she began to step backwards with her other foot. Asier followed along, and stepped forwards with his own foot. “Watch out.” Cas notified as she stepped forwards with her left foot. Her words went with the points where the singer didn’t say anything, to not intervene with the words. Asier stepped his own foot back, heeding Cas’s warnings perfectly. They continued to dance until Cas stopped suddenly. “You might not be able to do this, but the boy is supposed to do this…” She noted.

“I think I can do it.” Asier took up the invisible challenge.

“Well, then spin me!” Cas smiled, and Asier laughed. He tried to spin her in an awkward twirling fashion, which just made him nearly fall over and not the one intended to spin. Instinctively, Cas grabbed him before he could fall, as if she tried to catch somebody falling backwards. “That was close.” Cas giggled, her paws gripping on his sides.

“Yeah… I probably would’ve hit the sand again.” Asier shrugged, feeling slightly embarrassed. Cas hummed as she picked him back to his feet. The song had ended. “So… that was all I wanted to show you.” Cas stated awkwardly.

“Oh… that’s alright. It was an… interesting dance.” Asier laughed. “Perhaps we could meet again?”

“Yeah… I hope so.” Cas smiled gleefully.

“Recording… 1-4-5… testing… testing…

I am incredibly astonished with what the others could do in just one day. There are so many restaurants and buildings occupied, and so many jobs accepted as well! I… just never expected this to go so well. I haven’t been asked as many questions as much, I haven’t been tested that much, I haven’t been forced to… play with anything… it’s just so… nice.

I’m planning on getting a job soon. I do want to live in a house sooner or later. I’ve always wondered what it’s like to reside in a wooden structure.

I could go anywhere I want… I could go to a fast food area, I could work in a cube, I could go build a computer, I could do anything I want! But really, I’ve always wanted to write, especially about my findings and all about the things I collected in that lab, while it still was… inhabited. And what’s funny about it all is… everyone is just okay with it all.

Every human, just wiped off the map. Every trained one of us doesn’t seem to be crying, but rather, happy. I never expected them all to wear a mask of their true intentions. It’s just all too… unbelievable to me.

I’ve heard stories of some of my lab partners being forced to breed with someone they didn’t even like, and forced to reproduce. But now… they’re free to choose whoever they want to. It’s no longer what it used to be. Life is now running its course. And now… and now…

We are all free.

...I don’t think I should end just yet. The whole point of this last past-world-based recording is to show the contrast between this world and the other, so… let’s go through the day with a recording. Now, I’m putting this in my tail.”

. . .

“Hello! What do you want here?”

“I want to work here, ma’am.”

“You do? Do you want to be a staff member, teacher, or… what’s that in your tail?”

“A recording device. I found it in the midst of a… building.”

“May you please mute it or something? I don’t think you should be recording this…”

“Okay… hold on one moment.”

. . .

“Okay, just turned it back on.”

“Why would you need something that records?”

“I’m noting my experiences here. There’s another set of recordings on this thing that shows the voice of a human that was working on m--”

“You were tested on?”

“Yes, I was. I thought I included that in my--”

“You did, you did. I just thought that was some ruse to make others care about you more and stuff.”

“That… is kind of rude.”

“Eh… sorry.”

“... … … ...Alright, out of the room. Putting the recorder back… in… my… paw… and there! I just got accepted to be a Language Arts teacher! I have no idea what that means, but they were desperate for spots. They told me I could become one due to my… advanced vocabulary.

Nevertheless, I shall depart to my classroom, as they call it. Hopefully it’s small.

Hmm… hmm… hm… hm-hm-hmm, hm-hmmm…

Ah, here we are! This is actually quite roomy, but honestly, I don’t really mind it. I think it’ll be too much to hold everything I would put in here, but it should be enough. So, they said they were going to give me the desks, and a personal chair with a desk of my own. They are also going to give me around a hundred dollars to spend on decor for my classroom, and I could be fined if I don’t use it for decor. How nice of them.

Alright, I’m going to go to something I saw down the street. I’m not sure if I should keep recording or not. This place is clearly radically different from anyplace else I was before everything was altered, and anybody will know how different this is compared to the past world, so…”

Asier pressed the End Record button, now outside of the school he just exited. “Young Hearts Middle School… what a fancy name.” He chuckled.

Asier stumbled upon a Chinese Buffet, and he casually strolled in. There were all kinds of other species, freely eating every noodle and every pastry and every piece of artificial chicken they could find. There was someone standing by the door, specifically a Pokemon who was the same height as Asier, and was blue and black colored with a spike placed in the center of his palms and chest. “Please, help yourself to anything here. You won’t have to pay. Also, try and get rid of all the chicken. Even if it’s not real chicken, there’ll be a few customers who may… dislike its presence anyways.”

“Oh. I couldn’t imagine somebody making a hissy fit over food.” Asier shrugged.

“You’d be surprised. Even if they aren’t chickens themselves, they complain.” The Lucario sighed.

“How odd…” Asier hummed. He stepped into the buffet, and picked up a plate. “I guess I’m going to eat all I can. Hopefully this isn’t like what that scientist fed me…”

. . .

Asier stepped out of the buffet, looking stuffed to the brim with noodles and sauce dripped from his face. “That… was… good…” He mumbled, his words muffled.

He wandered around until he arrived at the same beach from before. There was nobody guarding it, or anybody looking for your money. Just a group of Pokemon, wandering around on the beach as if it were nobody’s business. Asier joined the crowd, his curiosity growing larger each and every day.

“So just place your left foot right here, but you do not put your right foot out! You’ll probably trip.” A familiar face instructed, younger children Pokemon following her instructions. Asier laughed a little, and he observed her.

Soon, she was finished with her instructions. “Now, are you ready to put it all together?”

“Yeah!” A small, nimble yellow mouse nodded.

“Bring it on, bear lady!” A plug-resembling kid demanded.

“Alright, let’s begin.” She laughed, and she executed a short and simple dance, with movements so quick, the dance was done in only a few short seconds. The others followed along, but even then, they couldn’t keep up. Gingerly, the instructor laughed, “Hehe… we can try again next time. The sun is setting.”

And with that, each of the small Pokemon strutted off the beach, and Asier briefly clapped. “Wow… I didn’t know you did more than one dance.” He grinned.

“Of course I do, Asier. I’ve been taught many dances from my caretaker.” She laughed.

“You seem to learn a lot from a human, Cas.” Asier reluctantly noted, not wanting too terrible of a reaction.

“Well, some humans are nice… well, usually they are, but there are some points where they are kind.” Cas replied, not attempting to burst out on the small weasel.

“Heh… I can see that with normal humans…” Asier sighed. “But they always end up doing something unintelligent, or something brutal.”

“The same applies with our kind, though.” Cas truthfully stated. “But, humans usually do their unsympathetic and their sympathetic behavior on purpose to make their Pokemon a bit like their pet. Humans are more manipulative than anything.”

“That… I can agree with.” Asier chuckled slightly. Cas stepped in front of Asier and rubbed his cheek. “There’s a little bit of orange stuff there. What is that stuff?” She asked, seeming concerned.

“I just ate some sort of chicken. It tasted really good, like a fruit I had before, but some of it… may have gotten on my face.” Asier joked slightly. Cas giggled and patted his back. “Oh, so you tried one of the new places here?” She asked.

“Well, I’ve never been able to actively go places myself. I’m usually either kicked out of a place or imprisoned in dark, empty rooms until I’m greeting with a needle in my chest.” Asier rambled, but he swiftly picked himself back up. “I-If you want a literal example.”

“I… don’t always like reflecting the past. But, it is good to level yourself with the… inconveniences that are in those memories.” Cas solemnly stated.

“I actually have something that can let me do that without having to remember.” Asier decided to bring his recorder up. He took it out of one of his many tails, and showed Cas the device. “Oh… these are your memories?” She asked. Asier laughed and pressed the rewind button. “No, but is simply an archive of the past days of this month.” He replied.

“Can I hear them? I think we could become good friends.” Cas smiled.

“...Sure. Hopefully you’re okay with all of this. It may be a bit… dark.” Asier warned. Cas laughed and nudged his shoulder. “Oh, just play it already!” She laughed. Asier chuckled once more, and he pressed the play button.

“Recording… month one… day one… year 2025… testing… testing…”
