Fantasy RP Ideas: Race Info

by Dapper_Cat

Dapper_Cat Just a summary of some races I created. If you want to use one of these races in a book, fanfiction, or an RP, just message me and we'll talk about it. I'll probably say yes, though.

If you have any ideas or want to message me ideas/races you'd like to insert into this story, I'm all open. Also, I'll post the information for some of the major Gods later.
Gátandres

Physical Details and Culture

A more tribal, feline race. They are a large people, the average height of a Gátandres is 7'5", by Human standards. They are humanoid in structure, but also have cat-like ears and tails. Their heads have the structure of a feline. Their appearance varies around different sub-species, and even those of the same sub-species usually have different fur patterns and colors. While many do not have hair, other than their fur, of course, it is not impossible for a Gatandres to have extra hair on their head or face.

Much more prone to natural urges and violence, the Gátandres tribes fight for dominance over the others, and violence is also the way a leadership changes. One can challenge the current leader to a fight to the death, in which the victor is the leader of the tribe. If a ruler lives to become old and frail, he will choose a new successor. The tribes live in a patriarchal society, where the majority are ruled solely by men and fought solely by men. From birth, and usually based on their sub-species, Gátandres children are picked by their tribe leader and his council as to what their position would be. The stronger sub-species would be trained as warriors, and nothing else, unless they showed a natural intellect. Aged warriors often leave active service and become military advisors. While a tribe chieftain may refuse a challenge, it is deeply frowned upon by the people. They usually live outside of the city. The few that live in the city are usually either criminals or slaves. They are rivals of the Lufenus, a wolf-like people, and carry a deep hatred for them. Gatandres can live for five hundred years. It is generally a mutual agreement between Gatandres tribes to join together to fight the Lufenus. The leader is decided by combat.

Sub-Species

Gatandres: As stated above. They are the average species of Gatandres.

Nalok-dres: The smaller, more intelligent sub-species of the Gátandres. While they are still violent, they are not nearly as violent as many of the other Gátandres. They are often the most powerful with Magic among their species and usually take up at least half of the seats on a tribe leader's council.

Leo-dres: Much more Lion-like in nature, the Leo-dres are even larger than the average Gatandres. They usually stand at 7'9" and are very muscular. Their brute strength is comparable to that of the Lufenus. Male Leo-dres usually have a mane, much like a lion. The few Leo-dres who wield Magic use it to add protection to themselves or enchant their weapons, since they don't have much magic potential.

History

The Gatandres have always lived outside of human cities in small camps. Their tribes are often nomadic, so their camps are easy to pack up after staying somewhere for a short time. Their people live and breathe war, so as such, their history is filled with bloodshed. The Gatandres outdate the existence of the humans by several millenia. They were discovered by the Elven people around the same time the Lufenus were discovered. The Elven people attempted to bring the leaders of both people together in the Elven Capital, a large forest city known as Orea. The difference in culture between the Lufenus and the Gatandres were too different, and the peace talks ended in the shedding of blood. While the elves were not considered an enemy, the Gatandres and Lufenus killed any who stood in their way by order of their respective leaders. The events at Orea resulted in a two-millennia-long war. After millions of deaths on both sides, the Lufenus finally stormed what was the capital of the Gatandres, Kyatto. After taking the women and children that did not escape prisoner, the Lufenus burned Kyatto to the ground. This caused the remains of the Gatandres to fracture. Their people were forced to splinter into nomadic groups to ensure survival.

Trivia

"Gatandres" is the combination of the Greek words "Gáta" and "Andres," meaning "cat" and "men" respectively. So the name essentially translates into "Cat men" in Greek.

The Felinar

The Felinar are, for the most part, human in appearance. Except for their cat ears, cat tail, and some even have natural claws they can unsheathe from their finger-and-toe nails. They are mostly female, with 65% of the race being female, while the other 35% is male. They are the result of interspecies breeding between the Gatandres and Humans. They have a higher chance (when compared to Humans) to have heterochromia and have different eye colors humans usually can not possess, such as violet, gold/yellow, and red eyes.

The Felinar have cat-like reflexes, much like the Gatandres. They are usually quicker than humans or Gatandres, though they are generally physically weaker than either. Most have an average level of intelligence. They are good at being quiet, and they can see in the dark. While magic is rare among them, the few Felinar that can have had large amounts of magical power, known to even rival some of the greatest Elven mages. A Felinar is more likely to possess Magic if he or she had a Nalok-dres Gatandres as a biological parent, and are usually more intelligent. As one would probably guess, a Felinar with a Leo-dres Gatandres as a biological parent would probably be less prone to magic but possess more brute strength, being able to even overpower regular humans. As a result, Felinar with a Leo-dres parent are naturally larger and slower than average Felinar, while Felinar with Nalok-dres parent would be smaller and quicker than the average Gatandres.

Because many Gatandres and Humans alike find the Felinar to be attractive, many are slaves to both races. This is also common for them because most Felinar are born from a human or Gatandres male procreating with a slave of the other species. Those that are not are usually still treated poorly compared to others, often being called half-breeds. Because of this and their natural stealthiness and reflexes, many freed Felinar work as assassins or thieves, which also paints a bad picture for the species as a whole. Due to their common profession as assassins and thieves, many Felinar specifically worship the goddess of stealth and the moon, Diala. They share many hardships with the Lykoire, and as such the two species usually have a sense of camaraderie between each other. This stereotype is ironic, considering the Gatandres and Lufenus hate each other.

Trivia

"Felinar" is a combination of "feline" and the word "lunar." since many Felinar worship the Moon Goddess, Diala.

Lufenus

While not as tall as the Gatandres, Lufenus are often bulkier and much stronger, save for when being compared to the Leo-dres. They usually stand somewhere between 6'7" and 7'2". While they do not possess as many unique eye colors as the Gatandres and Felinar, the Lufenus commonly have red eyes, and some times yellow eyes. In terms of physical appearance, they look very similar to werewolves. They often don't wear much but a set of cloth to cover their private areas or armor for battle. The only exceptions are tribal chiefs who almost always have bits of armor and ceremonial decorations adorned on their body and Lufenus who live outside their strongholds and in human and elven cities. While not as blood thirsty or war-mongering as the Gatandres, the Lufenus have proven to be tactically superior.

Unlike the Gatadres, the Lufenus have a central government. One is not permitted to challenge the current leader of the Gatandres during their reign. Should a ruler, known to the Lufenus as a "Susigas," perish from assassination, death during battle, natural causes, or any other circumstances, the currently highest-ranking General will organize a tournament for some of the strongest and most intelligent warriors to compete in. Unlike the Gatandres, their battles are not to the death. Once a combatant has taken a certain amount of hits, they match is over. This way, the people preserve their warriors. If the current Susigas dies during war time, their child shall take over if they are an adult. If they are not, command will fall through the chain of command, as each Susigas is required to make several documents detailing who command of the people fall to. They are a far kinder race than the Gatandres, despite their appearance. They rarely ever take slaves, and most Lykoire are a result of interspecies breeding that was usually wanted by both parents.

While the Gatandres live in temporary camps, the Lufenus make most of their homes in the mountains, either made of stones or carved into mountains. They usually call these towns and cities strongholds. The Lufenus tend to live for three hundred years. The Lufenus capital is a large stronghold in the eastern mountains, surrounded by five other strongholds. The Capital is called Urufu. The Lufenus can not learn Magic. Lufenus have enhanced smelling and are generally stronger than other races.

History

The Lufenus were discovered by the Elves around the same time the Gatandres were. After taking the two beast-like people to the Elven capital of Orea, the peace talks quickly broke down. The Gatandres killed many Lufenus, which enraged the lupine-like people. They hunted down the Gatandres, slowly but steadily cutting down their men, gaining large casualties themselves.

Trivia

The name "Lufenus" is a combination of "Lupine" and "Fenris," a wolf-like creature from Norse mythology.

Lykoire

Much like the Felinar, the Lykoire are the result of interspecies breeding with humans. However, instead of it being with the Gatandres, the Lykoire have one Lufenus parent. They look exactly like humans, but they have sharper teeth, a wolf tail, and a pair of wolf ears. Because of this, the Lykoire have an enhanced sense of smell and are good trackers. They are generally more intelligent than the Gatandres, Humans, or Felinar and are physically stronger than the average Felinar or Human. The only exception would possibly be a Felinar with a Leo-dres parent. They are usually around the size of an average human, but those that are larger are also rather common.

While some Lykoire opt into thievery to get by, many work as mercenaries or warriors for a local lord. They are also naturally talented sailors. Like the Felinar, many Lykoire are deemed attractive by humans, and thus many that live in human cities are slaves, and are also viewed as half-breeds among them. However, the Lufenus are not as cruel as the Gatandres, and many Lufenus cities gladly accept the Lykoire as their own.

Because of the Lufenus's inability to possess Magic, the Lykoire can not possess it either, but they make up for it with their intelligence and strength. Coupled with those, a Lykoire mage could have been a dangerous foe, indeed. Because of their ancestry, Lykoire can possess red or yellow eyes.

Procreation/Interspecies

While physically possible all the different races of the land to procreate with one another, the only examples of physical changes taking place are with the Felinar and Lykoire. They are made by a Human breeding with a Gatandres or a Lufenus, respectively.

While Humans and Elves can breed, and it does give the child some extra traits, there is no visible physical difference, so they are usually referred to whichever species they resemble.

Although the event is highly unlikely, the Gatandres and Lufenus can procreate with each other. However, the result would be dependent on the mother. Which ever species the mother is is what the child is. However, if the father is a Gatandres, he can pass on unique traits like eye colors.

Felinar and Lykoire can procreate with each other. Like with the Gatandres and Lufenus, the child's species depends on the mother. Once more, if the father is a Felinar, different eye colors can be passed down.

Humans and Felinar/Lykoire can procreate. The result is usually a human child, but sometimes a Lykoire or a Felinar can be the result.
