The Country of Meiyadarin: Prologue, Part 4, An Ordinary Palace Day...?

by ~Rinko~

~Rinko~ An ordinary day in the life for a young girl and her best friend, living at a palace in the second biggest country in the continent of Celestialle.
Of course, who knows if it will be ordinary at the very start of the day? (part 4)
Overall, the morning had passed swiftly and without event. I said nothing about the strange soot, as I had thought that no one would believe that such a magical material could exist.

“Hey, Miss Ma!” came Adriana’s high-pitched voice.

I turned my head slightly, raising an eyebrow at her.

“-Ria. Aaanywaysa, what ya’ doing?”

“I’m just about to head out.”

“Alone?”

“Maybe.”

“Am I gonna come with?”

“Of course not.”

“Ah, a shame.” Adrianna mumbled, surprisingly formal, though that only lasted for a moment. “So where ya’ heading Miss Ma... ria?”

“To the Shrine of Saint Suzanna.”

“Huuuuuuh?! I’ve never heard or seen ya’ being all religious and stuff!”

“Really? I am certain I mentioned heading to the shrine soon after you started working here.”

“Eh, maybe getting me to remember was just too much for a... how old was I again? Twelve?”

“...You are twelve right now, Adriana, though you are right with your guess nonetheless.” I pointed out in a rather bored tone. I was, indeed, bored with her annoyances.

“Oh yeaaah, forgot how recent I came here.” she chuckled.

To this day, I still have little idea why she was hired, considering her forgetfulness. At least, someone else always handled requests that required memory.

A moment of awkward silence had followed that conversation. The silence, though not the awkwardness, was broken when Adriana coughed slightly.

“...I... will go and ask if Christopher would like to come with me. To the shrine.” I said, quickly fleeing the awkwardness I could not have foreseen causing.
