Prologue - A Sudden Dynamax in Sinnoh

by PyroGaleZX

PyroGaleZX The following is a Prologue to a series I will write about my main OC Landon and his friend Lyra, two trainers working towards their own goals. One afternoon, when both of them were doing some training with their Pokemon, a glowing red stone came crashing into the ground emitting a dull red glow. However, when researching it one of Landon's Pokemon suddenly becomes giant and attacks Professor Rowan's Labs.
Prologue – A Sudden Dynamax in Sinnoh

It was late afternoon in Professor Rowan’s garden space in the Sinnoh Region’s Sandgem Town. Landon, a Pokémon Trainer with dreams of becoming the Champion of the Sinnoh League, was training with his Pokémon alongside Lyra from the Johto Region, a fellow Pokémon Trainer working towards her own goal of becoming a Pokemon Professor and discovering a new Pokemon. Landon, dressed in a blue jack and grey track pants was battling alongside his Blaziken, one of his strongest Pokemon and capable of Mega Evolving via Landon’s keystone and Blaziken’s Blazikenite. Lyra, wearing a white jacket over her overalls and red t-shirt was battling with her Azumarill, her strongest Pokemon she owned, and the one she chose as her first Pokemon.

“Ready for this Lyra?” Landon grinned as his Blaziken’s cuffs ignited with a bright red fire, the cuff holding its Mega Stone glistened.

“Don’t forget Landon, I still know how to battle!” Lyra smiled, “Azumarill, Aqua Tail let’s go!” Lyra ordered. Azumarill jumped towards Blaziken as water spiraled around the end of its tail, Azumarill swung its tail like a ball and chain, throwing its full force behind the attack.

“Blaziken Stone Edge now!” Landon called back, Blaziken swiftly slammed its foot against the ground as three large stone suddenly burst out of the ground in front of it, forming a wall that Azumarill’s tail collided with. The force of the hit made a crack in the stones but Azumarill was forced to push itself back.

“Not bad Landon, Azumarill use Brick Break!” Lyra called out. Azumarill’s paw began glowing as it punched the stone wall.

“Blaziken, retract Stone Edge, then use Double Kick to counter!” Landon ordered with a smile. Blaziken stepped back as the wall went down and Azumarill charged in for a Brick Break. Blaziken raised its legs, blocking Azumarill’s attack with one kick, pushing it to lower its defenses for a moment before swiftly delivering a second powerful kick and sending Azumarill flying back.

“Azumarill, Hydro Pump!” Lyra shouted, Azumarill launched a powerful jet stream of water at Blaziken, scoring a direct hit and pushing Blaziken back a bit while also dealing significant damage.

“Blaziken Flare Blitz now!” Landon shouted. Blaziken pushed against the water as its cuffs ignited, the flames surrounding it as it evaporated the water around it and charged through the Hydro Pump and rushing towards Azumarill.

“Quick Azumarill, dodge it!” Lyra shouted but Azumarill was powerless as Blaziken rushed it. Azumarill was almost hit but all of the sudden something from the sky rushed down, colliding with the ground in front of Blaziken and Azumarill, causing a big blast that blew back both Pokemon.

“Blaziken are you alright?!” Landon called out.

“Azumarill!” Lyra shouted. Both trainers ran to their Pokemon’s sides, both Azumarill and Blaziken were okay but there was a small crater with a strange red glow. Landon and Lyra recalled their Pokemon to their Pokeballs and slowly walked over to the crater. Inside of it was an odd-looking stone, it had red cracks that were giving off the glow.

“What is this?” Landon muttered as he reached down and picked up the strange stone, it was small enough to fit into his hand and wasn’t cold, which was quite surprising. Lyra walked over, taking out a smartphone, and taking a picture of the stone. She used the image to search the internet but her phone came up with no results on the stone at all.

“There’s nothing on my phone, unfortunately,” Lyra stated rubbing her head, “Let’s check with Professor Rowan and see if he knows anything,” she suggested.

“Good idea,” Landon nodded, both of them ran into the nearby laboratory walking into a room where an old man in a lab coat was standing by a computer examining Landon’s Keystone. Landon walked in calling to the man, “Professor Rowan!”

“Hmm?” the man turned in response, “Yes, what is it?” he asked noticing the glowing stone in Landon’s hand, “And that?”

Landon and Lyra explained the situation, as Landon held out the stone. Rowan nodded along as they spoke, “Hmm, well that does sound strange indeed,” Rowan stated, scratching his beard, “Currently I’m using a sensor to measure the energy output of your Keystone Landon,” Rowan pressed a button on a keyboard as a glass case rose up with the Keystone held inside. The case opened and Rowan removed the stone, handing it to Landon and taking the strange glowing stone, “Perhaps measuring the energy output of this stone will give us insight as to what it is.” Rowan pressed the button again as the case lowered into a machine and the sensors activated.

Rowan switched the screens to a new graph as the group awaited the readings. Suddenly a line skyrocketed from the graph, shooting up past the original reading of Landon’s Keystone. All of their eyes widened as the machine sparked a little, the stone was actually overloading the whole computer with excess energy. Landon saw as the battery life of the computer jumper from a constant 100% to suddenly 150%, 200%, 340%, and so on, not stopping. Sparks flew as Rowan and Lyra began typing into the computer trying to get the stone out.

“Landon! Get Togedemaru’s Pokeball!” Lyra shouted as she shielded herself from some sparks. Landon quickly ran out of the room to the Pokeball storage, getting to his Pokemon and grabbing the Pokeball for his Togedemaru.

“Togedemaru go!” Landon shouted, throwing the Pokeball. A small spike ball Pokemon appeared as Rowan opened a hatch to the battery. Rowan signaled for Landon to be ready as Togedemaru ran over and hugged the battery, using its Lightning Rod ability to drain the excess power in the computer, “Hang in there Togedemaru!” Landon called out. Togedemaru cried out as the yellow spines began glowing brighter and brighter before starting to glow red as well.

“Get back!” Rowan shouted, pushing Lyra and Landon back. A red aura surrounded Togedemaru as its body began growing quickly and within a few seconds, Todegemaru was towering and broke through the room breaking through the ceiling as three red clouds circled around it.

“Togedemaru?” Landon mumbled as he backed up slowly, seeing his Pokemon suddenly scared and afraid of everything that was going on around it, “Professor Rowan, what’s happening to Togedemaru?” he asked.

“It can’t be, Togedemaru… has Dynamaxed,” Professor Rowan stated. Togedemaru stepped around nervously, destroying the lab slowly and machinery as red sparks bounced across its body.

“Dynamax?” Landon and Lyra asked as they ran through the lab and into the field with Rowan.

“A phenomenon recently discovered in the Galar Region, Dynamaxing increases a Pokemon’s size exponentially, as well as its power,” Rowan stated as Togedemaru winced from the sparks, “This should be impossible in Sinnoh, so that means that stone…” Rowan grumbled.

“What does it mean Professor?” Landon asked in a panic, he needed to help his Pokemon no matter what.

“Togedemaru will need to release the energy trapped inside of its body right now, but our lab will be destroyed if it does that,” Rowan stated sadly, “Landon, Lyra, you two need to defeat Togedemaru, that will harmlessly release the energy.”

Landon’s mouth hung open as he turned and saw Togedemaru in pain. Lyra walked over and placed a hand on his shoulder, “It’ll be okay Landon,” she stated, “Togedemaru is strong.” Landon blinked and shook his head nodding.

“Alright, Blaziken I need you!” Landon called out, turning back as Blaziken ran to Landon’s side quickly. Landon clipped his keystone to a necklace and placed it around his neck, “Lyra, let’s do this.”

“It’s raid battle time!” Lyra smiled as she took out a Pokeball, “Charizard we need you too!” she called out, the ball burst open as Charizard flew out in a white light. Lyra grinned and slipped a Z-Ring on her wrist, “Let’s do this!” she smiled.

Landon smiled back, “Alright Blaziken, now!” Landon called, grabbing his Keystone as a light burst from the stone and Blaziken’s Mega Stone. Rays of light flew out and collected as Blaziken was surrounded by a bright ball of light, “Burn brighter! Mega Evolve!” Landon shouted as the ball exploded and Blaziken’s form had changed, the cuffs of flames now more ribbon-like, flowing past Blaziken, “Stone Edge!” Landon called out. Blaziken slammed its fist against the ground as stones began breaking through the ground, heading towards Togedemaru.

“Charizard Fire Blast!” Lyra called out. Charizard took in a deep breath and quickly launched a star-shaped fire projectile. Both Stone Edge and Fire Blast hit Togedemaru dealing some damage and grabbing its attention.

Togedemaru winced as sparks bounced across its body as its tail raised up and a storm cloud formed over Charizard. A massive bolt of lightning shot down, striking Lyra’s Charizard and sending the dragon crashing into the ground, knocked out in one hit.

“Charizard!” Lyra called out, running to her Pokemon. Togedemaru’s body suddenly sent out an additional burst of energy, as the area around everyone was crackling with electricity.

“Is this, Electric Terrain?” Landon muttered as he and Blaziken were both confused by what was going on, “But Togedemaru doesn’t know that move,” he muttered.

“It’s the additional effect of the move Max Lightning, a Dynamax move that replaces Togedemaru’s Electric-type moves when it Dynamaxes,” Rowan stated.

“No way, that means Electic-type moves are stronger now,” Landon grumbled, “Then let’s keep going, Blaziken Double Kick!” Landon called out. Blaziken quickly jumped high into the air, slamming its legs into Togedemaru, bludgeoning the large Pokemon and causing it to stumble back into the lab some more.

When Togedemaru hit the ground, silver spikes started juting through the ground, striking Blaziken in the chest and sending it flying, “Blaziken! Hang in there!” Landon shouted as Blaziken flew back, it opened its eyes and straightened out, gliding down and rushing towards Togedemaru, “Flamethrower!” Landon called. Blaziken rolled and got under Togedemaru shooting a stream of fire towards Togedemaru, nailing a super-effective hit in Togedemaru’s face for lots of damage.

Togedemaru got up as sparks bounced more, Togedemaru slammed its foot against the ground as a light formed under Blaziken, bursting and shooting Blaziken high into the air while dealing a tone of damage.

“Blaziken hang in there!” Landon shouted. Blaziken flew so high up that it came face-to-face with Togedemaru. Togedemaru winced as it began sparking and a cloud started forming over Mega Blaziken. Just as Blaziken was about to be hit, a powerful stream of water shot forward, hitting Togedemaru in the face, stopping the attack. Landon turned to see Azumarill was the one launching the attack, “We’ve got your back Landon, now attack!” Lyra cheered.

Landon smiled, and looked up to Blaziken who straightened itself out, “Blaziken, Flare Blitz let’s go!” he ordered. Blaziken surrounded itself in a ball of blue fire and flew into Todegemaru, causing the mouse Pokemon fell back. Togedemaru’s body shot out a red beam of light, shrinking back down to normal size, exhausted.

After the damage was cleaned up Landon, Lyra and Rowan met in another room as Rowan pulled up a screen with a video of a battle taking place in a stadium. Landon watched as a giant Charizard with flames as wings was battling a giant Gyarados. Both Pokemon launched powerful attacks similar to Togedemaru’s, the match ended as Charizard’s wings flew off its body like some sort of phoenix, hitting Gyarados and surrounding it in fire and knocking it out.

Rowan paused the video, “That video was taken during the champion match at Wyndon Stadium in the Galar Region,” Rowan stated as he held out the mysterious stone, “In the Galar Region they use Dynamax during battle, after the incident here I’ve determined that this stone is a Wishing Star, normally they only land in the Galar Region, so for one to have been found all the way out here is very unusual,” Rowan explained as the screen changed to an elderly woman with a cane, “Professor Magnolia was the one who first discovered the Dynamax Phenomenon, I’d like to ask that you both go to Wedgehurst in the Galar Region and tell Magnolia about what happened here today, as well as deliver that Wishing Piece.”

Landon nodded, taking the stone, he grabbed a nearby backpack, about to place the stone in before Lyra reached over, taking it from him, “How about we don’t put the stone that may potentially create giant Pokemon in your backpack without a second thought,” Lyra sighed as she grabbed a chest, placing the stone inside and handing it back to Landon who put the stone away.

“We’ll get the stone to Professor Magnolia and be back in no time!” Landon smiled putting the backpack on. Lyra smiled as she removed her coat hanging it up before grabbing her own backpack as well. Landon also took out his Pokeballs from his pockets, leaving them and his keystone with Rowan, Lyra decided to leave her Charizard and Z-Ring with Rowan as well.

“I wish you both good luck on your travels and contact me when you arrive in Wedgehurst,” Rowan stated. Landon and Lyra both smiled, thanking him before running out of the lab, excited to travel to the Galar Region to learn more about the Dynamax Phenomenon.
