Pokémon: Frameshift: Pokémon: Frameshift - The Starters

StellarWind Elsydeon So I've recently started a daily drawing project!
It's essentially a 'dex challenge - but with a twist. Each Pokémon drawn will be re-imagined (complete with names and flavor text!) with its types replaced with types that are super effective against their natural types. In case of a dual-type Pokémon, this will be performed for each type separately. Shifted types will remain consistent within evolutionary lines unless there is a change within the line itself.

And seeing how I've completed my first minor milestone for this - the Kanto Starters - yesterday - I figured it's about time I dropped these on 'Charms. ^^

Though I intend to periodically post batches of 'mon, you can follow Pokémon: Frameshift as it regularly updates on the project's dedicated tumblr at http://pkmn-frameshift.tumblr.com/ (Pokémon: Frameshift) ^^

*Jigacho comes over while nervously handing a note* "Let me be honest... these Pokémon look a lot more intimidating than me even for their first forms."

@Hotshot14380 - Weirdly enough, I find myself particularly drawn to Florrapin - which is something I did not expect as I'm not a fan of Blastoise! It's rather odd how type changes can bring out something entirely different about the same basic design. ^^

@Spoiled Bread - Caterplume was sort of a case of 'How do I make a generic caterpillar flying? Then i just pictured one flying around like a miniature Chinese dragon, then a lot of little wings just sort of appeared on the thing in my mind and the next thing I knew, I had a thing.

@Melody-Jez Thank you! ^^ I am rather enjoying this project from a design standpoint. Figuring out poses can be a bit of a pain in the neck though - especially when I have to wade into way-too-many-fighting-types. XD

Anyway, I discovered velvet ants quite a few years ago, through a close friend whom (like me) is also very fond of arthropods of various sorts (never heard of the Youtube channel you mentioned - but I don't really hover around the Youtubesphere much). The brilliant red-and-black one (Dasymutilla occidentalis) that I based Excavant on is a US-native species - but as it turns out we actually have one or two native species of our own here (this was news to me, so thank you for reminding me to look it up! ^^)

Just went through the gallery on Tumblr and I must say this artwork is amazing :D give yourself a pat on the back!

Also, points for making a velvet ant Pokemon. Did you learn about them from the Brave Wilderness YouTube channel or are they wild in your neck of the woods? :)
