Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon Walkthrough: Part Three

by CrazyUmbreonLady

CrazyUmbreonLady Spoilers ahoy! We get a bit more into mechanics and meet some new characters.
Chapter 2

Meeting Erupta (or whatever your partner's name is in your game)

Nuzleaf brings you to his house, where he shows you where you will sleep. Once again, he asks what you'll do, and you STILL have no idea. He then wonders why the Beheeyem targeted you, but quits as only wondering will only "give [him] nothin' but a headache". He suggests that you could get answers when your memories recover, and you can stay at his place until then. But it's probably a good idea not to mention the Beheeyem to the villagers, lest they be frightened away. And since you're a kid, you'll have to go to school so the others don't get suspicious! Yay! Nuzleaf tells you to stay in the house while he goes to register you in to the school.

Once again, you're in control. But once you move any direction, another cutscene shows up. You suddenly hear something, and a shadow is at your window! It leaves as soon as you see it, and you hear its very loud footsteps around the house. Rightfully paranoid that those were those Beheeyem again, you head out. Actually, you're in control, and you're supposed to go outside and deliberately disobey Nuzleaf, but that's besides the point.

Nobody seems to be outside, but you resolve to keep your guard up. Just in case.

And you see...

Drumroll...

...The species of your partner! Wow, that sounded weird. Let's just say Chimchar, for now.

That Chimchar seemed very excited to see you! She (also considering this Pokemon female) asks all sorts of questions, including about your name. But before you answer, the other Pokemon introduces herself! (Going to say Erupta. I will interchange this with something more neutral, so that this isn't entirely about my playthrough.) Erupta mentions that she lives nearby, with her "old pops" (presumably her parental figure). She asks where you're from, and mentions that you're likely not Nuzleaf's blood child. Awkwardness ensues with you only. The Pokemon begins to show you around Serene Village before you could say no.

Along the way, your little tour guide talks with you more. You end up in the plaza, with a nice little camera view over the area. You probably see some shops. Erupta goes over a few of them, which I will explain here.

The bank and storage has been combined into one: The Deposit Box! Here, you can store items so you won't lose them in your adventures. Pretty handy for times when you'll go through multiple dungeons. Trust me, it's gonna happen.

Kecleon's shop, is the same as the previous games. Remember the game's currency, (P)? You spend that here on things such as Orbs, Wands, Seeds, and Berries. You also find the shops in dungeons. Don't steal, or you'll regret it!

Unfortunately, your neighbor's explanation is interrupted by another Pokemon, Lombre. He's not very happy, and apparently, he's not the only one. The indignant Pokemon make chase.

Of course you're confused by all this randomness.

The game is kind enough to mention that you can save by opening the menu with X and that you can use a Progress Device to save in a dungeon. Only said by me, the powerful version, Progress Device+, can revive your entire team with full PP and Belly, though I have to double check.

So, the other stuff!

Hawlucha's Slam School is used to remember moves for free! You can also change a Pokemon's ability for a Lucha Token. Sadly, he's not available at the moment, so you need to wait.

Cafe Connection isn't very useful right now, but it will be later in the game. I'll explain at that time.

Once your done checking things out, head right towards a cutscene!

You find out that Goomy had headed out to...somewhere by Pancham and Shelmet's pressure, much to Deerling's anger. Deerling makes Shelmet take her to where Goomy went. Of course you want to follow, being the eavesdropper you are. Head towards the gates once you're ready.

And apparently, Goomy still hasn't returned. Pancham assumes that since he hasn't returned yet, he's a wimp, and Shelmet does the same, saying that Goomy should've just shut the heck up. Since Goomy seemed to have a somewhat large ego, he headed into the forest, and he's likely cowering, causing both to break out in laughter. (Grr, those little-) Deerling is furious, but Pancham said that Goomy had it coming. The former decides to go in, but is stopped by the duo of bullies. Deerling tells them to find Goomy instead, and Pancham refuses, strongly suggesting that he wasn't afraid.

You show up the scene, and everyone notices that they haven't seen you before. You want to help. If you say no to the "option", it will just keep looping 'til you say yes. You shock everyone by suggesting you'd go into the Foreboding Forest, but they'll let you go anyways. Pancham, when asked by Deerling, said that Goomy probably isn't too far in, as he only had to go in write his name on the paper that Pancham and his buddy laid down previously and return it to them.

Foreboding Forest

Team

Selene (Riolu)

It's not as bad as you may think, since it's relatively easy.

There seems to be a lot of normal type Pokemon, so if you have a Pokemon with a Fighting-type move, don't hesitate to use it. There are also Mr. Mime, but that won't be problem even if you're Riolu, since you can KO with one or two hits. There's Stunky with Focus Energy, which increases critical hit ratio, so watch out. Taillow can be a bit of a problem for Grass-types and Riolu, as well. There's also Bellsprout, which can attack from two tiles with Vine Whip, so Water-types better watch out.

More items I found:

Blast seeds are your best friends when it comes to the early bosses. They'll deal 100 damage to the Pokemon in front of you.

Petrify Orbs inflict the petrified status on the enemies in the room you're in.

Warp Wands teleport the target enemy to a random place.

Confuse Wands inflicts the confusion status on the target.

After four floors in total, you find Goomy! And not only that, he managed to write his name on the paper, albeit sloppily. You take the frightened Dragon-type back to the entrance with the proof. Pancham and Shelmet picks on the poor kid's writing, though, and goes to show the paper to everyone else. I won't describe the rest of the scene because it's getting close to bedtime.

Back at your temporary home, Nuzleaf is quite ticked at your leaving without permission, and to obey authority figures next time. He, however, understands your sense of adventure, so he encourages you to explore and lets this one slide. Nuzleaf also reminds you that tomorrow is school, so you better go to bed!

And we'll leave it at that! See you in the next!
