Parasitic: Parasitic: Prologue

by Sciencewars

Sciencewars A prologue to a zombie story I am writing, called Parasitic. It's based around a fungus that controls the host, letting it spread. Anyway, see you on the other side!
Journal Entry 3/17/16

The lab is beginning research on a new project. I was assigned with obtaining a specimen of Ophiocordyceps unilateralis, known to the public as "zombie fungi".
They manipulate a host ant until it dies and then it multiplies. It's very interesting.

Journal Entry 4/3/16

I have tracked down a specimen from a fellow scientist. His name is Dr. Klien. We've been friends for quite some time. It is being transported currently, as well as a special species of ant.

Journal Entry 6/14/16

I saw the project today. The higher-ups are attempting to replicate the fungus. I don't remember the specifics, but I believe the finished fungi will use the host's motion center. They said that they will give us more information shortly.

Journal Entry 10/21/16

I heard the fungus is a bioweapon. Some kind of epidemic for war. We got messages on how to deal with the remains of possible "test subjects". I believe that we need to destroy the brain stem in order to paralyze them.

Journal Entry 12/9/16

It's completed.

The fungus.. It's escaped. I've stored an email from the CEO in a file below. If anyone reads this, the fungus kills the host. You can't kill it. Just wait for the corpse to decay. I'm sor

The Kandy Association is proud to present our most amazing project yet! Using biological engineering, our top scientists were able to recreate a feat of nature! A special fungus we made can control the host, making it a valuable asset in the art of war! The fungus plants itself in the host's brain stem, which allows it to control movement. Even if the host dies, it can still replicate human movement. However, the fungus cannot live if the host's brain is decayed. Remember that, my good employees, and keep on living!
