On The Bright Side: OTBS Chapter 7: Secrets Unmasked

by Silvermist599

Silvermist599 Noah needs proof, and he's found it, but is it enough? Will the others trust him now? Find out in the next chapter! ;)
The next day, I went to school and sat away from Nate and the others for the first four periods. I needed time for my plan. However, when the bell chimed for the beginning of the lunch period, I was slow to leave. I needed to let the hallways fill up and be chaotic.

One minute. Two minutes. Three minutes. I let the clock tick by before walking out into the hall and putting a hood over my head and dropping a device I’d constructed last night from some spray hair dye and electronics.

A cloud of blues and oranges spread throughout the halls and chaos ensued. People panicked. People always panic.

However, I simply bee-lined it through the people on my way to the principal’s office. It was locked of course, but the lock was easily picked. When I got inside, it was just a normal office. Papers and files strewed around the room, but the map the necklace had on it showed a room past this one. A room that pinged with this necklace for some reason. A room that seemed to be behind a bookshelf. Always a bookshelf, couldn’t Mr. Colstrom at least be creative with his secret hideouts?

I moved the bookshelf aside to find a wooden door with no lock. I opened it, not knowing exactly what to expect, but whatever I expected, that wasn’t it.

When I got in, it was like walking into another world. There was scientific equipment all around the room. Chemicals were boiling in a flask in one corner, while some kind of mask sat next to it. However, the most shocking part of all were the pictures on the board. They were pictures of me. Pictures of all of us, the four of us. However, that wasn’t the most disturbing part. The disturbing thing is that I distinctly recognized my Nate and I, from our world as well as the one that I knew here.

In shock, I almost left without evidence, but I remembered at the last second and snapped a picture of the whole room with my phone before leaving, careful to recover the door with the bookshelf. However, as I headed back toward the door, I heard footsteps walking toward it, so I dove under the office desk to hide.

I tensed as I recognized Mr. Colstrom’s voice. He was talking to someone. He was talking to… himself?

Was he somehow talking to the him from my world? I had no clue, but what they were saying scared my. One of them was saying that I, well Noah Connors, was here and needed to be ‘dealt with.’ Then I heard the bookshelf being moved and the door behind it opening and closing. After that, I fled the room and ran to where I knew I could find Nate and got there breathless.

“What happened to you?” He said curtly.

“I got your proof.” I said quickly and hurriedly.

“Meet us after school then,” he quietly whispered, actually sounding impressed. “And this’d better be good, because I think they know you pulled that stunt.”

“I know, but trust me, it was worth it.”
