On The Bright Side: OTBS Chapter 3: The Fake Lies?

by Silvermist599

Silvermist599 Noah tells the color group everything..., almost everything, but will they accept him?
Leaving the school, I immediately head to Nate’s house and go to pull up the… dead grass? K, so no dead grass, instead, there’s a tree house. Of course he has a treehouse now.

I’m going to decide not to question that abnormality, and instead just climb the ladder into the treehouse. Apparently I’d gotten there before Nate as well. A few minutes later, Nate arrived in the treehouse, but the other two, Kara and Mikey, were with him. I just looked at them as they came in, not talking.

“Okay, spill,” Nate said once they were all up there. “And don’t bother denying that something changed, because you never act like this, and you don’t even have gray hair dye.”

My eyes widened as he spoke, and I realized I needed to tell them everything. “I don’t know exactly what’s going on,” I admit. “Yesterday, I fell asleep at home, a colorless place where talking can be punished harshly, and this morning I’m here, and you all want to talk to me, including you two,” I say pointing to Kara and Mikey, “who I’ve never even spoken to before.”

“Wait,” Mikey said. “So you don’t know who I am?” He asked seeming a bit hurt.

“You’re Mikey,” I say before shaking my head, “but I only know that from what you said earlier. Otherwise I’d have no clue.”

“And I’m guessing I’m the same way,” Kara asked and I nodded. They all seemed confused. I wonder why…

“So, to sum this up,” Nate said. “You come from an alternate world where there is no existing color and you’ve never met Kara and Mikey. You know me though for some reason, and you agreed to come here because you trust me?” He asked.

“Yup.” I said. “That pretty much sums it up.” I said. “But do you guys not have to go through training?”

“What’s training?” Kara asked.

“Never mind, I guess that’s a no.” I said, actually a bit relieved. “So no training either, and I’m guessing color isn’t illegal?” I asked.

“No, that’d be terrible!” Kara exclaimed.

“Than this might not be so bad,” I said smiling.

“But wait,” Nate started, ever observant. “Then what happened to the Noah Connors we know.” He said. “Is he in your world?”

“I assume so.”

“Then how are you going to get home and how is he going to get back?” He asked concerned.

“I dunno, why would I ever want to go home?” I asked.

“So you’re just going to leave him there!” Nate said angrily.

“Well, Mr. Science but I don’t even have a lab, if you find a way of inter-dimensional travel, let me know, but in the mean time, we have a group project to work on.” I say pointing at the papers on the floor.

“Fine,” Nate said, but he seemed angry. “But I will figure out what you’ve done to my friend.” He said scathing. It honestly hurt that he didn’t trust me, but I really couldn’t blame him. He’d get used to it though, they all would, and so would I.
