On The Bright Side: OTBS Chapter 15 Part 2: The Light in The Darkness

by Silvermist599

Silvermist599 The final chapter of the second installment of the Noah Connors saga that finally brings it back to the ending of AWWC.
Well, Nate just threw my laptop back at me, so I assume that means he’s done. Let’s see where he left off… great. The Climax. Well, let’s get into it.

So, what happened after I left Colstrom’s office was that I started heading toward the meetup point that Nate and I had set, but on my way, my mom (well, the mother of the light version of me, but you get the point), Mayella Connors, ran into me. Literally. She had a bunch of the black masks in her hand, so I chose to follow her as she headed outside. “What are you doing?” I asked her as she left.

She turned around with a glare, but quickly composed herself. “Nowhere sweetie,” she said. Suddenly, Nate burst out into the courtyard with Mr. Colstrom in hot pursuit.

“Noah, don’t trust her!” he said before a black mask was pulled over his face and his body went rigid. He dropped his backpack beside him and stood straight, awaiting direction from Mr. Colstrom. However, while Colstrom and Mayella Connors were looking at me, I saw Nate throw something to the opposite side of his bag. It was a small black box, but that wasn’t what surprised me. What surprised me was the smile on his face and the thumbs up he gave me. He wasn’t actually under Colstrom’s control. They had succeeded in disabling the masks, but still, where were Kara and Mikey? I’d have to worry about that later.

“You won’t get away with this!” I shout, intentionally making my voice crack to make my part seem more realistic, like they’d broken my spirit, which was exactly what they believed.

At that, my ‘mom’ laughed, “we already have,” she said, “and there’s nothing you can do about it.” At that I ran, not very far though, I just needed to them to go back inside, but as I ran, I hear my ‘mom’ shout, “Go ahead and run. We’ll find you eventually, but by then, we’ll have already made the world perfect!”

Out in the woods, I waited about twenty minutes before returning to the outside of the school. I knew I’d have to be fast getting Nate and the others out of there, but before I did so, I grabbed the black box from where Nate had dropped and opened it, smiling when I saw that it contained the necklace we’d been looking for, but I didn’t know where the other one had gone. Of the four, I was holding two, the other world had one, but where had the fourth gone? Another thing to worry about later.

It was well into fifth period at the point when I entered the school, but I was headed to the office. However, as I was passing my fifth period classroom, Nate walked out of it, still wearing the black mask. “Nate?” I asked cautiously.

“He’s not your friend anymore.” Colstrom said, suddenly behind my, making me nearly jump out of my skin. My ‘mom’ was right beside him and they were smirking as though they’d won, and it really seemed like they had. I, however, knew otherwise.

“Ha, you thought.” I said confidently. “Come on Nate, take that ugly thing off.” I said smiling at Nate, but he didn’t move. “Nate?” I asked.

“He’s under my control, remember?” Colstrom asked with a smirk before giving Nate a command. “Grab him, Moral.” He said, but Nate still didn’t move. Panicking, I ripped the mask off him and what I saw wasn’t pretty. His eyes were bloodshot and had lost all color. His face was pale and was looking at seemingly nothing. “What!” Colstrom shouted before taking off his mask and looking at it. “You sabotaged my mask!” He said before running at me.

That was the least of my worries, but still, I grabbed Nate and dragged him through the school, taking turns until I finally reached the main entrance, but standing before me was my ‘mother’.

“You’re not going anywhere.” She said.

Angered by what happened to Nate and knowing that I needed to get out of there, I let go of Nate and ran right at her, putting it on her face with enough force to knock her backwards. She didn’t get back up and I didn't want to think about what that meant for Nate, but knowing I only had seconds before Colstrom came, I grabbed Nate again and started running home, not knowing where else to go, still having to drag Nate behind me.

It felt like forever, but when I got home, I flung open the door with a crash and pulled Nate into the house behind me as I ran, but as I turned the corner, I crashed into a gray haired boy with bright blue eyes and we both fell to the ground. The small black boxes we were both holding fell, and a ripped picture came out of both boxes. Together, it showed me and this new boy holding one of the necklaces. Wait, no. It showed me and another me holding one of the necklaces, and sure enough, when I looked up, I saw Noah Connors staring right back at me.
