The Odes of Three - Songs of Land Sky and Sea: Ode to Flight

by Zixal

Zixal
Oh, how I long to fly
Too long surrounded, been I,

By towering trees teeming with leaves
Too high to see.

Majestic mountains meandering,
Snowing, white hats glowing.

Flat-bottomed clouds, dark and gloomy
Yet aloof in all their poofy glory from a rare-seen angle.

Oh, how I wish to fly.
To erupt from this ground, lighter than a pound,

Around and over the towering trees,
Picking the highest leaves.

Up majestic mountains, pilfering
The glowing snow in setting sunlight.

High, high up, molding clouds like clay
Say, to see, to look down at the world that imprisons me,
Without looking down upon thee.

And fly. And be free. To see and believe, and live.
And when I die, to be buried among the endless, glorious, beautiful sky.
