Some people like him for the balanced character he is. He has the right abilities and enough attitude to make people like him.
But I'll stop talking about Silver, since you guys came for the REAL answer.
It's Metal Sonic.
This is probably the second choice, though.
Metal Sonic is a robotic copy of Sonic, this one being more successful than the others.
Speaking of Metal Sonic, can we have a Metal Sonic Mania, please? Like, I dunno, Metal Sonic is Sonic, Silver Sonic is Tails, Mecha Sonic would be Knuckles.
I've liked Silver Sonic and Mecha Sonic, especially Mecha Sonic's role in Super Mario Bros. Z.
Metal Sonic is, in my opinion, the most badass character. EVER.
I'm not talking Sonic standards.
This thing rebelled against his master.
That's like you rebelling against your mom!
And took one of the most overpowered forms of Sonic ever.
Cooler than any form Sonic or Shadow OR SILVER have ever seen.
And that's saying a lot.
Metal Sonic has only been stopped by a few, and that's Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. Maybe Chaotix. That's IT.
Unlike Robotnik (yes I call him that) over here, getting trampled by, I kid you not, EVERYONE.
Even Mario characters!
His boss appearance and music in Sonic Mania is just...beautiful.
The boss fight starts out with a classic CD race, with Metal Sonic cheating along the way.
The music contains the return of the HURES...
Metal Sonic's idle before the race even starts is beautiful.
Then he locks himself into a...machine?
That shoots electro balls and mini Silver Sonics.

Shut up, you're not even supposed to be here!
Anyway, You can only beat him by spindashing into a spindash, which will spindash into Metal's machine.
Even in CD or Generations will I accept his appearances.
I always play as him in Mario & Sonic at The Olympic Games.
If Sonic's being too annoying, call up Metal Sonic, he'll kick his ass.
And that's why I love him so much.
