Lost History: My Dear Watson

by Lost Souls

Lost Souls Alice was never one for detective work. She can nearly remember her own past, and the search has given no leads. So when she is informed of a series of thefts, and that she has to solve them will almost no leads she is understandably upset.
'This is the last thing that I wanted.' I sighed walking around the ranch.
"Well, there is one way. Floccesy Ranch has been experiencing some strange thefts, we haven't been able to find any leads. We would like you to take a shot at it." Cilan said, and I let out a small sigh.
"I can give it a shit, but I'm no Sherlock," I responded, lightly shaking my head. "When do I start?"

'You should ask your clients for information.' The voice suggested and I nodded. The owners of the ranch might be able to shed some light on the situation.
"Thay don't know any more than you do." At the voice quickly turned only to come face to face with a man. He had spiked blond hair and looked like he didn't want to be there any more than I did.
"Perhaps, but my dear Watson they could have information that is part of this puzzle," I responded, pausing as the name left my lips. Watson, I really was getting into the whole Sherlock Holmes thing.
"Oh, well than Mrs. Holmes, perhaps you can gain some information from them that I, a mear gym leader, couldn't." He retorted a hint of amusement in his voice. "What the heck, this could be fun if we work together."
"Onwards than, the game is on."
It wasn't too long before we reached the house, and I knocked. The couple that came to the door was young, with a Lillipup to either side of them. They seemed distressed, and I could feel the fear from the two dogs.
"Hello, my name is Alice and this is..."
"Volkner." The man interrupted with a small forced smile.
"Right, we are here to investigate the robberies," I added, tilting my head when the man went pail. "May I ask what was stolen?"
The silence was deafening, interrupted only by a small sigh from the woman.
"We lost out pokeballs, our crop, and several Mareep." She responded.
'She has a guilty heart, focus on your ability.' The Orb suggested and I nodded, closing my eyes.
"What are you doing?" Volkner hissed quietly, right as I opened my eyes. A bright yellow glow emanating from the enclosure as several Mareep walked by.
"Rider, search!" I called, tossing his ball into the air, kneeling next to him, I held out a small pouch. "Oder Sleuth."
As Rider picked up on a trail I furrowed my brow. There shouldn't have been anything similar to my pouch if ash. I wasn't even sure why I would have volcanic ash.
"Intriguing, onwards Watson. It would appear a lead has presented itself to us." I called trudging after Rider with a small smirk.
Glancing around I could sense the fear coming off of the sheep. Something definitely was wrong, as we headed into the forest. This definitely was strange, as I started sensing a powerful aura. We were definitely onto something.
I could hear Volkner behind me, as well as the click of him calling out a Pokemon.
Turning I smiled as a large Manetric walked up to my side sniffing the bag, quickly picking up the trial.
"Actually if you don't mind I wasn't a more trained nose to track this," I responded walking up to it.
"Bite my hand, track any blood residue you can," I whispered, nodding encouragingly at its hesitance.
As the fangs broke the skin, I gently hissed, holding up a hand as Volkner went to return his pokemon. It was not surprising that Manetric picked up a trail fast. However, Volkner did seem caught off guard.
'Child, you know how to track as well. I would suggest.' "We should trade, temporarily of course. I know how to track, and I can handle myself. Trust me?" I asked interrupting the voice. Silently Volkner nodded pulling out a pocket trade system. Once the trade was complete we both took off in different directions. This was something big, and tensions were high.
Dashing forward, I followed Manetric along the blood trail. As the blood became visible, I placed a hand on his back.
Stopping Manetric nodded, falling into a slow pace beside me. Biting my lip I cautiously called out Blue Bell as well. I could smell the blood heavily and the colour indicated it was fresh. A small chuckle escaped my lips as an old joy entered my entire being. The Game was really on, this was a mystery I could get behind.
This wasn't some ask a question and track jewels or boring things like that. This was either assault, murder, or poaching, and that excited me to no end.
"The trail leads into that thick of the forest, it would be a good way to hide a crime," I whispered, letting out a low howl. When I got a response I nodded. "Poochyena, they could be a good help." Howling again I gently held my breath. Magnetic howled as well, calling to the emerging pack -of six Poochyena- three Electrike.
"Alright, now that we have some backup, let's catch this criminal once and for all," I said smiling. "I suggest you all prepare for battle."
Walking into the thick I nodded as the blood slowly started thining. "Track," I whispered to Manectric.
'You're close Child, be cautious.' The voice ordered and I rolled my eyes. I was on the chase, I knew what I was doing.
Following the large pokemon, I glared at the screen in front of me. We had entered a clearing and in the middle of it was a very dead body. What was worse was that it appeared to be a purple Zorua, a shiny pokemon.
Kneeling beside it I carefully examined the body making sure not to touch it. It had been shot in the back of the head, most likely by a handgun. Snarling, I did the first thing that came to my mind. I started howling, loudly. It wasn't long before the pack joined in, Manectric included.
"What are you doing?" A voice asked from behind me, yelping as a few more pokemon -ten Poochyena and six Electrike- joined in. As they started snarling I turned, standing to full height.
"No jacket you're used to the cold around here, your sleeves are rolled up, but your left is damp. Your trying to hide something, there is a reflective purple fur on your pants, you must not have gotten it all of like you thought you did. Furthermore, I can see the gun holster under your shirt. Ergo, you carry a concealed handgun and that was what was used to shoot this Zorua. Logic would state that you were the killer." I growled, smirking at the shocked look on his face. "Furthermore, you have ash on your pants. Most people would miss it, but not me. I thought that something was up from the beginning. Leaving an obvious body I began to wonder, to think just now. Why?"
Breathing heavily, I stormed up to him, the sound of a third voice approaching edging me on. "Perhaps its because you were unable already stealing from the farm. I saw it when I entered, they don't want people just picking their berries. That's the harvest they gain and they sell them cheap at regular intervals. Rair berries that would normally cost hundreds. You had them in your bag, as such you had to toss the trail another way. You came back and captured several Mareep before stealing the ash to create a second trial. That allowed you to empty your bag and come back for your prized hunt."
"Alice! What's going on?" Volkner called as he ran up. This scattered a large amount of the pack -bringing it down to ten each- letting him view the poached pokemon.
"This man is not only the thief but a poacher as well," I shouted with a small growl still present in my voice. "The ash was a trick, this is the true crime. Well, and the berries, those are not common! But we have him my dear Watson, the culprit in this case!"
That was still my main weakness: overconfidence. The sound of the clicking gun told me exactly that. What no one was expecting was Rider to lunge forward and lock his jaw on the gunman's arm, glowing until he had evolved into a Herdier.
"Scatter, return to your homes!" I called watching as all but one wild pokemon bolted. A small Electrike who sank its fangs into the man's ankle.
"You're under arrest for the poaching of this Zorua and theft of Floccesy ranch," Volkner growled darkly, marching up to the man as he dropped the gun.
"Yield," I ordered, nodding as the man collapsed. Rider and the Electrike both let go, walking up to me still snarling at the man.
It wasn't too long before the authorities arrived, and the man was loaded into the back of a van.
"Not bad Holmes, perhaps we will meet again." Volkner teased as we traded out loaned pokemon back.
"That sounds like a great idea Watson, I look forward to it," I responded with a nod, snapping two balls to my belt. Walking towards Will, I chuckled lightly.
'We are going to great things, my Dear Watson.'
