Moonlight: Prolouge

Natalia zipped up her suitcase and glanced around her now empty room. It’s bare walls gave her a shiver. She was moving, even though she didn’t want to. But life wanted her to. Natalia did not want to move away from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Life would never be the same.

Eating facturas every morning on the way to school. Stopping at the almacen to help her aunt for 5 pesos after school. She would miss her friends at school, her teachers, and the city itself. The city of tango and beautiful nights.

But her dad needed that job, so Natalia wouldn't get in the way.

She sighed and picked up the last of her bags.

The plane ride lasted longer than she expected. She had done all her favorite things though. She had read, Drawn, and had built some more on her invention. It was hard though, she kept on spilling some screws on her mom’s lap, and her screwdriver fell on the floor. So finally her dad told her to put it away.

When they arrived at the airport Natalia picked up her bag that she had brought for the ride and stepped off. The airport was; different. The walls were colored a bright orange, and the floor was a divine purple.

“Welcome to Dixie, Virginia, gal!”

A woman of high self respect was looking at her and her family. She had a bright shade of purple hair, tied into a bun. But it was the kind of bun where some pieces of hair would stick out from all directions and it would look like she had a peacock on her head. Her smile was bright too, but something about it made it look fake.

“I’m Lilac! Nice to meet you!” She held out her hand for a shake.

Natalia stared at her hand cautiously. She wondered what kind of name that was, because she had never heard of a name like that. Natalia took her hand and shook it.

“My name is Natalia.”

Then to Natalia’s surprise, Lilac’s eyes turned dark, and her smile faded.

“Your name?” She asked. “Natalia…”

Lilac pulled her hand away in one quick movement that it looked like she never did it. She laughed nervously.

“Parents, why don’t you come to the desk to fill out the papers…”

Her voice sounded hypnotic, and creepy. Her parents walked to the desk and started searching for a pen in their bags.

“Listen up gal.” Lilac said. “You better not go anywhere alone. Stay with your parents.”

Then she skipped away to the desk.
