TheAverageCharmeleon Chapter 2 in Kali's Journey
The pokeball gleamed in the sun. The red was as dark as the blood gushing from me knee. I crawled closer. Inching my way towards the pokeball. Maybe. I. Could. Save. It. I gritted my teeth. Inching forward. That was all I could think about. Blake kicked the pokeball. I looked up. He had that stupid grin on his face. I cowarded at the words he said.

“You still lookin’ for that dumb brother of yours? You’re even more pathetic than he is.” He threw dirt into my eyes which mixed with the tears streaming down my face. Muddy streaks ran down my face and neck. Blake picked up the pokeball and threw it at me.

“Good luck ya loser.” He walked away laughing like a maniac. I clutched the pokeball closer to my chest. I sat there for hours.

One week earlier

“Kali! Get your bag together! We need to go to the lab now!” My dad yelled at me up the stairs. I grabbed the backpack my mom had packed for me. This was it. I was about to get my first pokemon. That also meant, I would have to leave my family and go on a journey. I closed my eyes trying not to think about my farewell. My little brother came running up the stairs.

“Come on! Can you get me a pokemon? Pretty please!” Jonathan begged.

“You are not old enough! It’s the law, you have to be twelve!” I responded. I could have done without the yelling but ever since I turned twelve, he has been obsessed with me trying to get him a pokemon. He started crying which as not a normal thing for him to do.

“Kali! I am leaving NOW!” My dad screamed. I sprinted down the stairs. We had to leave Jonathan home by himself because my older siblings were all on their journeys, and my mom was at work. He sat on the couch, and put in a movie. I stayed just long enough to see that he was watching a movie about starter pokemon. I walked out the door. I wish I would have said goodbye.

One hour later

“Well, Kali… we only have one pokemon left, so I guess it won’t be hard for you to choose.” The Professor said. He laughed nervously. He handed me a pokeball.

“Go ahead. Find out what your first pokemon is.” I threw the pokeball to the ground like I had seen all of my older siblings do. A eevee appeared from inside of the pokeball. I held my breath and stared. The eevee was adorable. I loved it more than anything. It was also watching me. Suddenly it made a happy sound and jumped into my arms. I pressed his warm body closer to mine. I sat down and pet it. Finally, my dad said something I was actually excited for now that I had my eevee.

“Kali, I have a couple of presents for your journey. Come open them.” He handed me 2 boxes. He had given me 10 pokeballs, and a bag of oran berries. He then left the room, and came back with a shiny, blue bicycle. He told me to ride my bike back home. I opened the door and screamed. The back door’s glass was broken, and my brother was no where to be seen.
