In a time long forgotten, god-like beings called Guardians roamed the earth. They were human-like, had elemental powers, and were worshipped by humans. The Guardians provided protection from evil such as the villainous Guardians. There came an age where the worshippers began building temples with artifacts to honor the guardians. These artifacts, if one had the right mindset and ability, could give one the powers imbued into the artifact.

However, as time went on, two Guardians, Entity the Guardian of Fear and Dolia the Guardianness of Deception, grew more abhorrent and decided to lock away all of the Guardians including themselves. The Guardians could still do their elemental duty. (Ex. The Guardian of Death could still keep balance and take people's souls.) The humans didn’t fare well without them. Civilization fell and what used to be a thriving society became a semi-desolate land with tribes scattered about. (The Americas before Columbus sailed the Ocean Blue in 1492 and the story of Europe mindlessly destroying the culture of the Americas began.)

Now, in present-day, the news is that there are now superpowered heroes and villains roaming the streets of some cities of North America causing trouble or saving civilians,. The heroes’ goal is to bring back the guardians to the world to save it from destruction, while the villains are trying to release Entity, Dolia, and other evil Guardians so that they can cause chaos, take over the world, or make the human race go extinct if they so desire.

One of these evil demiguardians is Bloodlust. A regular everyday man turned into a psychotic murderer. Changed by the power bestowed from the artifact of Nathan, the Guardian of Death. He was flung into a nightmarish time-loop. His powers, although quite simple in typed words, are hell in practice and overpowered as well. Every time he died he had to redo the day. The curse is that he is extremely unlucky in return for this power. He has suffered gruesome deaths that drove him mad. He had to relive many of those deaths and he had to be careful. He became so insane he began killing people without thinking of any consequence. He quickly forgot to die to get a do-over and was a mass murderer because of the powers bestowed upon him by the artifact he stumbled upon in a museum.

Another demiguardian is Chris, a vigilante mercenary with a compassionate heart. He got the powers of the fire demiguardian Pyros. The power bestowed upon him was the power to explode anything in his hands by heating it up causing the object to combust and take minimal damage at times, depending on the object. He could also explode himself without any damage.

The two of them were at the time fighting in an alleyway. Bloodlust was trying to kill Chris, for Chris had just killed a gathering of crime bosses who were at the time having a fancy dinner. Bloodlust was hired to get revenge on the exploding hero. Bloodlust had encountered death many times already in this battle and had to restart. He was considering giving up. The people who hired him would probably be too scared to have him killed and would just send more lowly thugs to try to kill Chris anyway. However, that didn’t appeal to the psychotic mass-murderer because not killing Chris was not fun at all.

Chris grabbed a metal pipe and charged it up for it to explode on impact. He swung at Bloodlust and the villain blocked it with his knife. The pipe exploded, sending both the maniac and the blade flying.

“You like that you murdering lunatic? It’s always funny whenever I do something, like killing some crime bosses, you always seem to show up and try to kill me afterward. I just wanted to rest easy in my own bed, but no, a psycho with a knife has to show up to ruin my night!” Chris yelled at Bloodlust.

Bloodlust replied, getting up and wiping the blood from his cracked lips, “Oh so tragic. Chris the demiguardian of fire. A lowlife vigilante wants to go to sleep. Well too bad. I’m here to kill you and I won’t stop ‘til I do. Now let’s put some scratches on that tired body of yours.”

“You know I just can’t shake this feeling that you get crazier every time I fight you.” Chris cracked his knuckles as he approached the man in the trench coat and black hat. Bloodlust’s skin was pale and his lips were cracked. He wore black gloves and a white tank top underneath his coat. The black pants and boots complimented everything he wore. Just to top it off there was a little added touch, bloodstains.

“I can’t shake the feeling that you get dumber every time I fight you.” Bloodlust shot back as he rushed forward with his knife and attempted to stab Chris.

Chris dodged out of the way of the weapon, but his cheek got scraped in the process. He went for a final blow with an uppercut and the punch hit right where Chris wanted it to. The maniac fell over and was knocked out by the punch.

Chris walked home admiring the punch, the city lights, and buildings around him. He noticed that the lights of the usually active residents were still on. He looked at his own house and saw that his lights were still on. A slight upset feeling came to his brain.

He walked up to his apartment, opened the door and there she was. Chris’s teenage daughter sitting on the couch eating snack food and watching a movie.

“Oh hey, dad nice to see you’re home before midnight. Did you eat dinner?” she smiled at her father.

Chris smelled the air and it smelled like freshly made mac n’ cheese. “No, I haven’t. Thanks for making me dinner Frankie. Sorry for not being home earlier. Had to take the long way home.”

A concerned look came across Frankie’s face as she saw the scratch on her father’s face, “What happened there?” she pointed at Chris’s face.

“Oh just a little accident nothin’ to be worried about, you had some of this right?” he pointed to the pot of mac n’ cheese that was made in the small kitchen.

Frankie shook her head. Chris grabbed a pasta fork and some bowls and began scooping the mac n’ cheese inside the two bowls. He served one of the bowls and sat next to his daughter on the couch. He took a few bites and began drifting off to sleep.

The teenage daughter smirked and snickered as she finished her mac n’ cheese looking over at her sneezing dad. She turned off the TV and went to sleep.

Chris began dreaming. A human-like figure appeared in the dream. It had a scythe and bone like-hands. It wore a black ragged cloak.

“Wait am I dead? How in the name of hell itself did I die? I’m pretty sure I didn’t.” Chris knew he was, in fact, standing in front of the Guardian of Death most likely. Chris was new to the fact that there were Guardians and was still learning about them.

The Guardian spoke to him, “I know this may seem wrong to you seeing as my artifact spawned a psychopath. But I am here to tell you that you need to search for more demiguardians. The time has come the world is going to turn into an apocalypse. The chess pieces are already at play and the King and Queen of the evil forces are ready to assemble their army to destroy society as you know it, spreading fear and chaos. You must stop the villainous demiguardians from freeing the dastardly Dolia and Entity. Find others like you or the earth as we know it is doomed.”
