Meta Knight was bored. Bored, bored, bored. It had been weeks since the defeat of Magolor, and he was bored silly waiting for a challenge. Even dueling Kirby was starting to get dull. I need a great challenge. Meta Knight said. A tournament, maybe? But where on Popstar could I find something like that? Suddenly, Meta Knight heard a voice.
"Excuse me, but do you know where I could find someone by the name of Meta Knight?" A man said. He had been sent to try and find Meta Knight for the tournament, and letting him down was a death sentence. He was trying to get some info from a Cappi. "Nope. Sorry." the Cappi said. "That's fine. Thank you." The man said. He walked down the street, wondering where he could find this 'Meta Knight'... when a sword landed at his feet.
Perfect aim. Meta Knight thought, hopping down to draw Galaxia. "If you are the one who is looking for Meta Knight... you have found him." Meta Knight looked up at the creature. He was huge, and definitly not from Popstar. "Well, great!" The giant said. "This makes my mission a lot easier." Meta Knight held his sword to the man's stomach. "Why were you searching for me?" he asked. "Well, to give you this, of course." The man said, handing Meta Knight a letter. It had the Star Warrior's name on it. Meta Knight took the letter and opened it. It read;
Dear Meta Knight
For your exceptional prowess with a sword, you have been invited to one of the greatest sword fighting tournaments of all time, Knight VS Knight! In this tournament, you will face off against the best swordmen across the known universe. we wish you luck in your battle!
Meta Knight looked at the letter with great interest. Under his mask, he smiled. "This is a letter of invitation to a fighting tournament, am I correct?" he asked. "Yes, it is." the man said. "Will you follow me to the tournament grounds?" "Of course." Meta Knight said, trying to contain his excitement.
The two walked into Wispy Woods, and the man appeared to be searching for something. "How do the woods lead to the tournament?" Meta Knight asked. The man responded by saying; "The tournament's not on Popstar. I'm searching for my teleporter." Meta Knight instantly understood just as the man spotted the blue sphere. "Right there!" he said, pointing. "Just step in and it activates." "Very well." Meta Knight said, as the two stepped in.

As the light faded from his eyes, Meta Knight looked around at the doorless, windowless suite room he had been placed in. There was a bed, a couch, a bookcase that covered an entire wall, and a TV with a Wii U connected. The TV was on a smaller bookcase, which contained every single Wii U game. Meta Knight, after looking around a bit, knew he was alone and removed his mask. Finally, he could relax. Just as he hunk his mask on a hook, the TV lit up. "What's this?" he said aloud as a chair appeared. The chair turned around, revealing a man about to speak.
"Hello there. If you are watching this broadcast, then you are one of sixteen contestants who have been chosen to come to my amazing tournament. In this tournament, you will face many others of your skill level... or higher. To make yourself comfortable, we have provided you with a state-of-the-art room, with a queen-sized bed, a glorious couch, a month's worth of books of any genre and a Wii U with a full library of games. Once it's time for your match to begin, simply enter the sphere of light that will form in your chamber. Good luck, and god bless you all."
As the TV turned off, Meta Knight looked around for a sphere of light, but saw none. Better at least do something productive. Meta Knight said, pulling a training dummy into the middle of the room. Drawing Galaxia, he began to train.
Three hours had passed by the time the sphere appeared. Meta Knight Grabbed his mask and Galaxia, and dashed into the sphere.

Meta Knight appeared in a tournament stadium, looking like he had dreamed it would have. Meta Knight could hear cheering people all around. A second blue sphere formed, and Meta Knight was surprised to find his foe as a young man. The green-clad man was looking around, obviously astonished. Wasting no time, Meta Knight drew Galaxia and pointed it at his new foe before saying his opening line he used in every battle.
"Fight me."
