I remember it like it happened yesterday. I was a doll, loved by a little girl, and then I was tossed in the trash, never to be seen again. Just like all of the other pitiful dolls who were thrown away, I became a banette.
Wild pokemon knew what I was. They hid whenever I came by, fearful that I was on my way to my old owner's house, ready to make her pay the ultimate price for throwing me away. Trainers either ignored me, in favour of catching prettier pokemon, or ran away from me in terror, knowing that I could be the doll that they had thrown away as a child.
I was all alone... Until I met her.
She knelt down to me when we first met, and offered me a pokepuff. She told me that her name was Kelsey, and that she wanted to be a trainer. Despite the lore surrounding my species, and my unsightly appearance... She said that I was cute.
I was in absolute shock when she told me that. How could I, a hideous, possessed lump of rotting stuffing possibly be, in her eyes, cute? I wasn't going to turn down the compliment, though. It was the kindest thing that anyone had ever told me.
She held a pokeball out to me, and tapped it to my head. I didn't even try to resist.
I became Kelsey's number-one partner. We went through all of the gyms together, just her and me. She never thought to ever catch other pokemon; she always said that I was all that she needed, and that she'd never love any pokemon quite as much as she did me. We were inseperable.
And then, one day I was called out to battle for her, against another trainer.
The trainer's features were unmistakable. Brunette ringlets, brown eyes... Yes, it was most definitely the girl who had thrown me away. The first two members of her team were easy; a pachirisu, and a roselia. But then she brought out her espeon.
I should have had the advantage over that thing, but it was just too powerful, and too fast, for me to land a proper hit on. I was nearing my limit, even with Kelsey behind me, cheering me on...
But then, something incredible happened.
I was swallowed up by a bright light. And then I emerged, a shell of my former self. I was far bigger than before, and I felt much stronger, too.
I finished off that damnable girl's espeon almost instantly. And when I was done, I reverted to normal, and she stomped away from us in huff, but I didn't care.
In that moment, Kelsey's love for me had awakened power within me beyond anything we could have ever imagined. In that moment, my grudge disappeared, and I could just be one with the trainer I loved.
