Short Stories: Maybe You Shouldn't Do That

by Shikowara

Shikowara Probably the weirdest story I've ever written...
"Your destiny lies in your hands, doesn't it? I like to think otherwise. I like to think there is someone out there, in control of all the things that come and go. Maybe it's a simple man who discovered this power one day while he was taking a bath. Maybe it's a little girl who stares out her window all day because she is thought of as weird and even sometimes called a monster who discovered this power when she was crying into her pillow.
"Or, maybe this isn't real at all. Maybe this is just a commuter program, a simulation, a dream. Though, it could be real too. It could be real life, or it could be all fake, and we're just little dolls in our master's bedroom. Maybe the people we call 'crazy' are normal. What if they see the real world? What if they're trying to tell us we're all in danger? Maybe the government is trying to hide whatever dastardly plan they have."
The room fell silent. No one said anything. What was she getting at? They all thought. Truth be told, she was the weird one. Daisy was probably the weirdest person they knew. She would say the weirdest things at the weirdest times.

"Uh, Daisy, we talked about this. This is real life, we're all alive," Henry told her.

"That's what they want you to think," Daisy replied.
Everyone felt uncomfortable.

"Whatever you say," Allison said in her high pitched nervous voice.
Then, Daisy's older sister, Lluci walked in.

"Would you like some tea?" She asked the four friends.

"That'd be great, thanks," Replied Tyler. But as Lluci went for the kitchen door, she stopped.

"I was like that too, you know?" She stared out the window as she said this. "I was like Daisy, always imagining things. Don't worry, she'll grow out of it. I did, after all. I use to live in inside my own my world of make believe." At this, she left.
The four of them didn't say anything as they continued to study.
When Lluci came back, Daisy stood up.

"I'll be right back, I have to get a little something," She made her way to the stairs, which lead to the second floor, but before she could make it past the first step...

"Maybe you shouldn't do that." Said Lluci. Daisy scowled at her sister.

"I wanted to show them." She replied.

"Remember what mom said?" Lluci asked. Daisy nodded, but kept standing on the stairs. "Then get back down here and keep studying with your friends."

"Why not with Chancibell?"
Everyone (except Lluci) was confused. What was Chancibell?

"She's grounded, remember?" Lluci stepped closer to the stairs.

"Then I'll lift the ground and put it back in the socket." Daisy went up the stairs and out of site.

"Daisy!" At this, Lluci ran up the stairs too.
But before anyone could do anything else...
BOOM!
An explosion sound came from upstairs, shaking the whole house.

"Aah! What was that?" Exclaimed Allison, hugging her knees as she laid there on the couch.

"NOT MY PUMPKIN!" Yelled a voice from upstairs.
Henry snorted.
Then, something crashed through the ceiling, landing in the middle of the living room.

"Didn't see that coming," Said Henry. Tyler smacked him on the back of the head, hinting that he should take this seriously.

"FOR GOODNESS' SAKE, CHILD, HAVEN'T YOU LEARNED ANY-- Oh, I'm sorry, hello there," Said a little girl, who had smashed through the ceiling. "I'm terribly sorry for my apperence. Children. You know what I mean?" But they were too confused to even answer. Who the heck was she and why did she come through the ceiling?

"I see she still thinks it's Fall." Said Daisy, who was looking down as the little girl, through the broken ceiling.

"Foolish child." Mumbled the girl.

"Um, mind my asking, but, who are you?" Asked Allison, now standing up.

"Who am I? Who am I?" She started laughing, but, realizing Allison was serious, stopped. "My name, child, is Chancibell von Fitsyder." The fact that she kept calling them children when she looked like she was five, was kind of amusing. "My sibling and I are the Children of the Night."
Henry pointed up, silencing asking Chancibell if Daisy and Lluci were her siblings.
"Hmm? No. They are merely my servants--"

"I never agreed to this." Stated Lluci, crossing her arms.

"Only because she asked for your soul." Said Daisy, chuckling afterwards.

"Yep, now little Dasiy is dead inside," Explained Chancibell. "Souls are what make you alive, I guess."
But, what Chancibell didn't know, was that Lluci held up a piece of paper that read: Insult her, it weakens her.

"Taking that soul obviously made you ugly." Said Allison, almost immidetly.

"Excuse me?" Chancibell looked astonished.

"I mean, she isn't wrong. Your clothing choices are horrible. Not to mention your hair." Added Tyler.

"Yeah, it's too curly. And, now that I've stared at you long enough, you kinda look like a starfish." Said Henry.

"A starfish? I HATE STARFISHES!" Chancibell excaimed.

"You mean starfish, not starfishes." Corrected Lluci.

"UGH! YOU ALWAYS CORRECT ME, CHILD!"

"Ha, I'm 18 years old, you can't call me a child. The only child here, is you."

"AS A MATTER OF FACT, I AM 1837 YEARS OLD! BEAT THAT!"

"That's old, you're old, this conversation's old."
At this, Chancibell fainted and turned into a small doll. It sat on the pile of broken ceiling, staring off into the distance.

"I guess I can eat her pumpkin now." Said Daisy, jumping over the hole and walking to the other side of the room...

...One Week Later...

"Daisy, can I talk to you?" Asked Lluci, sitting down on Daisy's bed.
Daisy was on the (now fixed) floor, playing poker with her stuffed animals.

"One sec," She replied, putting down her cards. "Fold." At this, Daisy stood up, looking at her sister.

"You're 16 now. Don't you think it's time you stop imagining and start living?" She asked. Daisy, obviously, staring off into space, Said nothing. "You...you need to grow up." Daisy snapped back and said something so unexpected, Lluci's heart skipped a beat:

"Ok."
