After getting my starter pokemon, I walked out of the professor's lab with a smile on my face. I haven't been this happy and excited in a while, which was a relieve from all that trouble in Hoenn. But what can I do now? I have Turtwig by my side, but where do I..

Oh yeah! Before I got to Sigma, the professor told me there was a route nearby for when I get my starter pokemon.. Route 229 was the name of the route I think, yeah. I guess I'll walk to the Pokemon Center to hang out with my new friend, I'm on my own now I guess..

Oh man! Turtwig is so adorable.. And he looks like a strong grass type too. Oh, it's starting to get dark out as well, I guess I'll be staying here at the Pokemon Center for now until sunrise tomorrow. Man, I am tired.. I would be really excited right now but, I've been on that ship all day.. I'm gonna take it easy...

Return Turtwig.. Zzzzzzzz...

The next morning..

Yaaaaaawn... I slept really well last night, wow! Their beds are so comfy. Anyway! I think it's time to set out on Route 229, I need to train before an upcoming gym leader. There is a gym here, but is it the 1st gym for this region? I'll check in with the professor right now.

- Calls Professor Valor from the Pokemon Center -

Valor: Hello? Who's calling me so early in the morning?

Darren: It's Darren, I have a quick question professor.

Valor: You could of came to my lab, but okay. What is you're question?

Darren: I know Arcwood has a gym here, but is it the 1st gym in this region?

Valor: Oh, I see what you mean. No it's not the 1st gym, that would be over in the next place from here. Past Route 229, there should be a town called Ravern, that's where the 1st gym is.

Darren: Oh, thank you for telling me that. I didn't know if the gym here was the 1st, since I just got here and all..

Valor: No problem! The gym here is actually the 5th gym for this region, which belongs to the grass type leader.

Darren: Cool! Sorry for waking you up. I'll be on my way now, see ya.

Valor: Okay then.. WAIT WAIT! I need you over at my lab, I forgot to give you something else..

Darren: Oh okay! I'll be over soon.

Valor: Okay..

- Hangs up call -

That was weird, I wonder what he forgot to give me. Oh well, I'll go anyway to see what he gave me. Come on Turtwig! We can do this.



Darren: Professor! I'm here.

Valor: Oh good! You look well and ready for you're journey huh?

Darren: Yeah.. So what did you forget to give me?

Valor: Oh! Let me give you this, my apologies.

- Darren receives the PokeGear -

Valor: Made from the faraway region called Johto, this PokeGear has many applications on it to make it easier as a trainer. You can call others on it if you have their numbers, look at the time if you're ever curious, and a map of Sigma if you need help with finding places on you're journey.

Darren: Thanks! This PokeGear looks cool too.

Valor: Yes, I do apologize if I forgot to give to you yesterday, it was night time after all..

Darren: No worries professor! At least I called you before I left for Route 229.

Valor: Haha! Good thing you did. Well, goodbye again to you! Good luck on you're journey Darren! Become a great trainer!

Darren: I will, and that's a promise.

Valor: Keep on that promise my man and you will become successful in this region.

- Leaves Lab -

Okay, I think I have the professor's number in there already. Ah man! I'm finally starting my journey! Hopefully I can catch a pokemon on this route. Here we go!

Route 229

As I step onto Route 229, I feel the small breeze overcome me, and the sun shining over my body. I really liked this route overall because it smelled like maple syrup, which is popular in Hoenn. Oh man! I should send out my Turtwig too!

Turtwig! Come on out!



Now, let's find some pokemon to catch.. Um, maybe here.. No.. I don't see many here..
Ooh! I found one to fight!

A wild Poochyena appeared..

It's a Poochyena! I see many of those over in Hoenn. Now.. What attack should I use..?

Okay! Turtwig use Tackle! Poochyena counters with Bite.

You can do it Turtwig! Use Tackle once more! Wild Poochyena fainted.

Alright! You did amazing Turtwig. Let's go through here together okay?

Good, let's walk around for a bit before we get to Ravern Town.

Hold on buddy.. I hear someone talking, let's listen..

???: You dumb Froakie! Can't you do anything right? HUH?

???: Why did I even choose you? I thought you were GOOD, but no.

???: Just a waste of my time.. I hope this thing evolves into an ugly, hot pink frog that no one likes.

???: I'll still keep it, just so that I can torment it more and more, I want this thing to suff--

Darren: Hey you! Who the hell do you think you are?

???: Oh, it's you again. And EXCUSE me?

Darren: Yeah you! How about you stop treating you're Froakie like that!

???: Hmph, says you? I own this thing you know.

Darren: Who cares if you own it. Yelling at it won't make it friends with a person like you.

???: Oh, my bad. But do I know you? Are you suppose to be my mom? Because you're acting childish.

Darren: You are acting childish, give it up!

???: You wanna fight me? Let's go then.

Darren: Fine! Let's do it.

Trainer Darren vs ???

???: Come on Froakie! Defeat this wimp.

???: Oh come on! You even have an advantage over my Froakie. That makes you more of a wimp.

Darren: So what? I chose Turtwig for my journey, and you just happened to pick a water type for you're starter..

???: Pfffft. Whatever you say.

Turtwig use Tackle! Ah..

Froakie! Use Bubble you twat!

Darren: Huh?

???: What's wrong? You look worried. Worried to lose?

Darren: No, it's not that..

Turtwig use Tackle again!

Froakie! Tackle it harder!

???: Froakie? ATTACK you twat! What are you doing?

Turtwig hold on!

- Froakie stops for a moment -

???: Froakie you idiot! Stop fooling around.

Darren: Shut you're mouth! Froakie is trying to do his own thing.

???: Like I care.

FROAKIE! Bubble that ugly turtle.

Turtwig, take that hit!

???: Are you trying to lose? How pathetic.

Darren: ...

Froakie looks scared, it looks like it's doesn't want to fight right now.. If only it was in better hands.. I need to stop this battle, I think this Froakie had enough..

Darren: I forfeit this battle! I can't do this.

???: Hahaha! CAN'T do it? How weak. So you are like all those other trainers, you're just weak.

Darren: Whatever.

???: Come on Froakie! Let's go beat some other weak trainers.

???: Froakie! Return.

Darren: Darn..

???: You know what? You could be my rival. Someone I can beat every time we battle! Yeah! That sounds good right?

Darren: ...

???: Was that a YES? Oh splendid! I knew you'd agree with a genius like me.

???: Bye for now!


Oh man.. I feel bad for that Froakie, it didn't deserve such a lousy and rude trainer like him. And I never asked his name too.. He probably wouldn't of tell me anyway.

Thank you Turtwig, you took that hit like a truck. That Froakie is good okay? Whenever we run into them again, go gentle on em okay?

I guess it's time to go forward, they will likely be there at the Pokemon Center. But man, what can I do for that Froakie..

And so.. Darren starts his journey with happiness inside, while feeling mad over an abusive trainer and their Froakie. What will happen once in Ravern Town? Stay tuned for the next chapter.
