Keeper Of The Ordinance: Keeper of The Ordinance: Part 3: The Blackout Ambush

by Atlas Uxie

Atlas Uxie In the last part, Jayden and Zak gained a new member, Avril. The group is now heading to the Durban Power Plant under Avril's request. The place may seem peaceful, but that is not the truth...
Log #2

Our journey extends to the outskirts of Durban, the town's power plant
. Avril was hasty about the request, as if there was a score she needed to settle. Zak and I will find out when the time arrives.

Setting the log book down, Jayden scanned the room in order to understand where he was at the moment. Canvas white walls the have wood framed windows covered by milky white curtains, and the floor was made out of white wood. The furniture was made with old spruce wood, and they all seem to have sharp splinters that are where you least expect splinters of wood to be. The beds had metal railings and white sheets, just like a hospital's bed. Jayden got up and shook Zak, who was in the bed right of him, and Avril, who was in the bed left of him, awake.

"Uh, Jayden, why did you wake us so early?" Avril asked.

"You want to go to the power plant, don't you? So, change and I'll make breakfast with what the hotel gave us." Jayden then walked over to the kitchen and pulled out raw bacon from the refrigerator. He also found eggs and bread that were past the expiration date, but were still edible.

As Avril was exiting the bathroom, Zak quickly tackled her back into the bathroom. He then shut the door quietly, so that Jayden doesn't hear the conversation.

"Avril, why are we going to the power plant?" Zak asked.

"You really want to know, Zak?" Avril asked back.

"Yes!"

"Well, Vander hired a Darkness Kidnapper. What they do is the make an area pitch-black in order to successfully catch an unsuspecting victim."

"What does that have to do with you?" Zak asked.

"Vander put me in charge of the hired Darkness Kidnapper. I told him to go to the Durban Power Plant to kidnap Jayden, but I now need to tell him to abort the mission. My worst fear is that Jayden will be kidnapped, and it'll be too late when we arrive to save him." Avril replied.

"That's all I wanted to know. Thank you." Zak opened the door, and they rushed out to eat breakfast. The way the plate was arranged with food gave off a delectable scent, and the children ate with such speed they might've choked or gotten a terrible case of the hiccups. They left the apartment and ran to a gated building.

"Halt! Who are you?" a lady asked.

"Ma'am, do you know who this is? He's the host." Avril persuaded.

"I don't care if he's the President! You're not allowed to pass!" the lady firmly stated.

"Ma'am, your house is on fire!" Zak shouted.

"What?!" The lady cried, running into the town. Avril then pulled a clip from her hair and picked the lock. The group then ran into the building. Once inside, Jayden felt a strange presence around the area they were standing.

"Guys, do you feel like you're being watched?" Jayden asked, shaking.

"Yeah, it's creepy-" Zak began, and in a second the lights were off and the room was pitch black.

"Aaaaaargh!" a shout erupted.

"Jayden!" Avril and Zak shouted. They were feeling their way around the area, and their biggest hope was that Jayden was okay and the Darkness Kidnapper was the one screaming for mercy, but they would never know until the lights were back on, yet they were never turned back on...
