Kaida's Travelling Circus: Kaida's Travelling Circus: Part Four

by ollijay

ollijay Kaida embarks on a mission.
Kaida woke up to the sound of Torikku and Toraburu chattering. So much for having a lie in.
"Good morning, Kaida," they chorused when they noticed she was starting to wake up.
She yawned. "Where's Kori?"
"Feeding the Mamoswine."
She patted Drowzee in thanks for helping her sleep, who snuffled in response and shifted to let her get up.
She helped herself to toast which was what the twins were eating.
"I spoke to the Anistar Gym Leader last night," she told them.
"The Gym Leader?!" Toraburu repeated enthusiastically. "Wow!"
"She asked me if I wanted to help out in the Gym."
"That's amazing!"
"But I don't want to."
The twins' faces fell. "Why not?"
"Because I don't agree with Pokémon battling." She took a deep breath. "But I think you should go. Take Mr. Mime."
Toraburu looked shocked. "Us?!"
"We're too young," Torikku shook his head.
"No. There are lots of young Trainers that help out in Gyms. Anistar is a Psychic Gym, so Mr. Mime will fit right in there."
They looked unsure.
"Just think about it," Kaida reasoned.
Their host came back inside at that moment, snow dusting his hair and coat.
"I met the Gym Leader last night," Kaida mentioned.
"Olympia? She's... interesting," Kori replied amusedly.
"She told me to go to Terminus Cave. Apparently there are people and Pokémon being forced to work there."
Kori frowned. "I've not heard anything like that."
"It's up to me to help them," Kaida continued. She'd had time to think about it, and made up her mind.
Kori sat down and seemed to consider it for a moment. "Alright. I'll come with you."
"Uh- no, you don't have to. I mean- I'm nearly an adult."
Kori smiled, irritating Kaida.
Toraburu piped up. "I talked to Mr. Mime. He wants to battle."
"We're not very experienced, but I think- I think we're willing to give it a go," Torikku agreed.
Kaida looked at them. They still looked really young, but something had changed about them since they'd left the circus. They seemed more determined, more positive, less resigned to their unhappy lives.
Kaida felt proud, like an older sister. Just then, she knew she had to look after them.
"Okay, Kori, why don't you show them where the Gym is?"
Torikku interrupted. "It's fine, we can find it ourselves. You two should go to the cave. I don't want you to run into any trouble on your own, Kaida!"
Kaida sighed. They all looked expectantly at her.
"Fine," she acquiesced. "Let's go."
She returned Drowzee to its Pokéball and checked that she had Popplio and Drifloon's safe in her backpack. She took a couple of Super Potions and a Revive.
She watched Kori start packing some things too; an Escape Rope, Potions, Glaceon's Pokéball, and some Lava Cookies.
They all trooped outside, snow still thick on the ground.
"Good luck, Torikku, Toraburu," Kaida smiled at them encouragingly, and patted Mr. Mime's shoulder.
"You too, Kaida!"
"See you later!"
They watched the twins walk into the city.
Kori turned to her and said, "We can ride Mamoswine to Terminus Cave."
Kaida shrugged. "Why not?"
They climbed up onto the massive Ice Pokémon and began the journey.
