Jellicent - male, Quiet, nods off a lot
This Jellicent was encountered in a fishing trawl operation that took place in Undella Bay. Jellicent and Frillish are a migratory species in Unova (the ones in Hoenn less so), and the fleet of fishing ships encountered a sudden swarm of them during one of the transitional periods. This resulted in twelve sunken vessels, an incredible loss of life, and damage to the Bay’s ecosystem. UOAA was brought to try lifting the wrecked ships off the seabed, and managed to float ten of them. The remaining two are too torn apart to rise very easily.
Many of the Frillish and Jellicent were killed or injured during the incident. The exact number of Pokemon that swarmed is not known, but estimates are currently above three hundred. Several specimen were captured for study, including the one Vivianne has. Laws are currently under debate about what rules should be made to prevent future accidents. These range from stricter fishing laws based on migratory study, to extermination of what is perceived to be an overpopulation of Frillish.
The Jellicent that Vivianne is currently rehabilitating was damaged by a fisherman’s spear and is missing one of its tentacles. It’s more lethargic than most Jellicent, and doesn’t seem to have much interest in hunting when offered live food. Vivi has opted to simply give it time to heal, as only simple physical tests can be done on it at the moment.
((Real life jellyfish are scary and dangerous in their own right. Jellicent are 7 feet tall and canonically sink ships. I feel like any instance of them is bound to be unfortunate.))
