If I were a Pokemon Trainer...
My home region would, without a doubt, be Sinnoh. I live in a cold, rainy country (England), and Sinnoh is a cold, rainy region. My hometown would probably be Solaceon Town. I live in quite a rural area, which is populated mainly by families, and I live within walking distance of a stud (A place where people send their horses to be bred), and Solaceon Town has a pokemon daycare (Yeah, 'daycare'). I also live within walking distance of loads of old churches and graveyards, and Solaceon Town is very close to Sinnoh's pokemon burial site...
I would probably choose a glameow for my starter, as I adore cats in real life, and glameow was my favourite pokemon, when I first got into the series (And if the glameow were anything like my Indigo, it would live on my arm!) I would set off immediately, and travel the region in the hopes of becoming top coordinator. I would never compete in 'real' battles, as I wouldn't be able to stand making my pokemon hurt others of their kind for a living.
As I travel, and earn my ribbons, I would be very careful about what pokemon I choose for my team. I'd want pokemon that I could work with easily in contests, so I'd choose ones that have a wide, pretty movepool. However, I wouldn't catch them in the traditional way. I'd want to befriend them, as I'd prefer that the bonds between my pokemon and I were based on friendship and trust, and not Stockholm syndrome (A rare psychological phenomenon, in which a hostage becomes emotionally attached to their captor) and Lima syndrome (The reverse phenomenon, in which a captor becomes attached to their hostage).
I would probably keep travelling, regardless of how long it took, until I became top coordinator. I'm ver persistent, and I won't stop until I get what I want. (And in real life, I've been working on my debut novel for almost two years).
My final team would probably be:
Purugly
Roserade (I share my name with its pre evolution...Almost. It's Rosalia)
Slurpuff (I love baking, and I am a baker in real life. Having a slurpuff around to help me pick the best ingredients would be a life saver in the kitchen...)
Honchkrow (I like big birds, and dark types)
Banette (I have a lot of stuffed animals, so taking in one that was abandoned by its previous owner would be no problem for me. I also think that it's kinda cute...)
Glaceon (I like eevees, and I like the cold. I would probably spend more than enough time in Snowpoint city to make mine evolve into glaceon)
