Professor Birch ran out of the lab and fought Team Aqua with the three starters. Dawn and Kip tried to battle Team Aqua but they didn't have much luck then a guy named Brendon came over with a Sceptile and beat Team Aqua. Then, their leader came out and battled Brendon, Brendon mega evolved his Sceptile and his team fought the grunts. After Brendon had won, he gave Kips and Dawn their Pokémon back. Professor Birch thanked Brendon and told him to say hi to May for him. Professor Birch then proceeded to ask Kip if she could collect all the Pokémon in the Hoenn region for his research. May asked Kip to have a Pokémon battle with her and Kip agreed. “Hey Kip don't hold back!” Dawn yelled “Same as you!” Kip yelled back. "Torchic use Ember" Kip yelled. Then, Dawn commanded Treecko "Treecko use pound on the ground to dodge then use absorb." "Torchic use Ember to counter the absorb, then use scratch." Their moves collided and left a plume of smoke covering the battlefield, neither trainer could see. As the smoke cleared, Torchic was the only one left standing.
