V For Vendetta: Eternal: Episode III - The Forsaken

by Vacat1o

Vacat1o And here's the third episode! I was going to make it bigger, but I didn't want to stretch the waiting so I scrapped some stuff. Hopefully, I'll finish what I planned in two episodes.
The sky had turned grey really quickly, snow followed and the air turned much colder. That didn't matter, crowds of people were everywhere, the capital of Vlatava, Hirfield, was alive. Since the Keep was destroyed, the terrorists fled from the capital and managed to make forts, very close to the Bulgarian borderline. Some were patrolling through the capital, seeking the unknown figure that tried to open the eyes of the citizens. The message didn't fully make the people awaken and fight, and blowing up an important and historical building wasn't, perhaps, the most appropriate thing to make the people follow him. V wasn't particularly worried about it, he was more concerned with the fact that the identities of the terrorist superiors were unknown. Nobody spoke a word about it. No one even knows if the terrorists have a leader. V had thought much of it, but he couldn't figure it out, and spying on goons to get information seemed like a waste of time; he just assumed they were the usual terrorist kind of people who did everything by themselves, with only squad leaders to give them orders, but it was something different, they were trying to establish a political order, and there was someone in the shadows controlling all of this. V glanced at the metal door of his hideout, contemplating whether or not he should continue his plan or start investigating. He turned around and then placed various daggers in the small sheaths of the belt strapped to his waist, and then took the black cloak and the black hat, both hanging on the ear of his wooden chair. He wore the cloak and placed the hat onto his head, ready to go outside in the forsaken side of Hirfield. The south side of the city was greatly damaged due to a fight the terrorists had with their neighbors. A lot of buildings were destroyed and a lot of innocent people were wounded and killed. The place was abandoned by the citizens, but not by terrorists. There were a few small camps there, and soldiers came every day to recruit people and take weapons and artillery to the fort, it was V’s key to get information and access to the forts. He opened the door and stepped on the thin snow surface of his narrow alley. It was too early for the winter to arrive on the third of November. V covered his body with the cloak and peaked to see the streets, no armed people, only innocent civilians, everything was peaceful. But he didn't know how short-lived that peace would be, a big dark green truck with a huge 40mm behind, drove by a man in black, rushed through the streets. There was another man wearing an assault vest over a black uniform on the back of the truck, holding a megaphone.

“Fools! We’re all fools!” yelled the soldier through the megaphone trying to catch everyone's attention, “We do nothing while our neighbors attack us and conquer us. We need to destroy them, we need to expand and become a more powerful country!”

The crowds just watched in silence as the truck slowly moved through the streets.

“They’re trying to brainwash you with messages, and destroy your beloved city!” he yelled again through the megaphone looking in everyone's eyes trying to intimidate them, “Vlatava is disappearing, and the only way to expand it is to fight!”

Out of nowhere, an old man got out from the crowds of people and stood in front of the car with a distorted look, staring directly at the driver. He held a big snowball in his hand, and with all his force he threw it in the truck's windscreen.

“Oi, so now you bastards start to acknowledge us?!” the old man said in desperation, “After we've been through homelessness, hunger, pain, and many others, you acknowledge us now?”

“It is true!” V said coming out from the alley, “While you all wasted their money and land for nothing, they were struggling to survive, they've been left in the shadows, and now you dare to come here and brainwash them, pathetic.”

Slowly, everyone started recognizing V’s voice. The driver got out from the car holding a pump shotgun in his left hand, he approached with anger while aiming V.

“It is quite hilariously how you pretend to rule and make the law in this city, but let me tell you something,” V said as he moved in front of the old man, “the will of this people is the greatest law that rules this country, a law that desires your respect.”

“Are you trying to play the vigilante?” asked the driver, “Are you trying to give these people justice?”

“Nobody can give justice,” V said, “because justice, equality, freedom, is earned by our own actions and choices.”

“Move, if you don’t want to get killed you lunatic,” the driver threatened him, “I just want to do my job”

“There is a difference between doing your work and doing with pleasure,” V said as he quickly dashed forward punching the driver in the stomach, sending him into the truck's hood

V jumped on the truck then leaped into the air, holding a dagger in his right hand, he fell on the soldier stabbing him in the head.

“I apologize for making you see this,” V said to the citizens, “but now, if you excuse me, I’d like to speak with the driver, privately.”

He grabbed the driver’s neck and dragged him back in the alley and knocked him against a wall.

“I’m going to ask you a few Questions,” V threatened him, “answer them and you won’t get killed, understood?”

“Go to hell,” the driver said with malice as he struggled

“I don't' have time for you,” V began, putting his dagger at the driver’s neck, “if you don’t answer my Questions I will slit you open and splash around like a child in a muddy puddle.”

He stood there in silence staring at V’s mask with a frightened look, he stopped struggling and leaned against the wall.

“Now-now, what do you know about the leader of the organization you’re in?” V asked putting the dagger away, “who rules it and decides what is right and what is wrong?”

“I don’t know anything, I swear,” the driver started speaking, “we, soldiers, don't know anything about his identity, we only know that he rules us from the shadows.”

“But why did he disappear?” V asked, “you must know that.”

“Someone attempted to assassinate him, during a convoy!” the driver shouted, “After that, he isolated himself and refused to reveal his identity to anyone, but the Forsaken!”

“What are the Forsaken?” V continued to question the driver

“Humph, you’re trying to purge us all, yet you know nothing...” he said, “The Forsaken is the name of our organization, they probably know where the leader is. ”

“Where can I find the Forsaken?”

“Both forts...”

V quickly left the driver alone, unharmed, and didn't waste any second, he entered in the terrorist truck and started driving towards the south side of the capital. Luckily, V didn't meet any terrorists on his way. His plan was to reach the south, which was full of men and equipment, then enter inside a truck that will drive off to the east fort. It wasn’t the greatest plan, but it was the only way to enter inside the fort. As V drove through the city the weather got worse, instead of the slow-paced falling of the snowflakes, there was a strong wind blowing chaotically through the city. After some time V finally reached its destination, there were no people in that location and the buildings were nearly destroyed. V left the truck in the middle of the road and checked out the area. The screaming silver kept covering every single sound and a white fog covered the area.

“It’s a bit early for a blizzard” V mumbled, “I’ll need a good spot to see if there are any soldiers around here.”

The first thing that caught V’s attention was a cobbled building, he started taking one step up the wall with one leg and springing up from there. He reached towards the top of the wall with his left hand and soon he was pulling himself up over the wall. On the roof, he looked around and didn’t see any person or car, so he continued to investigate the zone by jumping on the buildings, or what was left of them. He climbed on the top of an old church and analyzed the area once more. In the fog, the buildings were blurred like an old painting, the wind kept blowing through the maze of destroyed houses where the windows were shattered because of their rotting boards and structures. Below, there were three soldiers, they were different than the others because instead of assault vests and stolen clothes they were actually wearing a black uniform.

“Have you considered the proposal?” one of them asked using a serious and nervous tone

“I don’t think it will work,” the second one replied, “to reinforce the forts would leave Hirfield completely exposed.”

“Maybe you’re right,” the third one agreed, “It’s hard to maintain order in the capital with our numbers.”

“But if we don’t join them, they risk being destroyed!” the first one shouted, “we need to deliver a big hit on the neighbors if we want to expand, then we can return!”

“They keep talking about the same thing every day...” V whispered, “I’ll learn nothing if I keep listening to them.”

“Just send everything to Palperroth,” the third one ended the discussion

Everyone just split and went in different directions. V followed the third soldier, which walked through a narrow street where homes were lining like broken teeth. As V got deeper in the south side of the capital crowds of soldiers appeared everywhere, some were in groups of five and others were alone, trying to find a warm spot. There were also trucks with green canvas over their back, V was watching one getting filled with wooden boxes and metal capsules. He was watching everything through a shattered window inside a building, which was half destroyed, including the roof. V climbed on the wall and then leaped on the next building, and then repeated. He got closer to the ground and trucks by jumping on the ruins. He fell on the ground and hid behind a grey wall, peaking at the soldiers filling the truck with ammunition, weapons, and artillery. The driver went inside the truck and started the engine, while V was checking the area to see how many soldiers there are, but he couldn’t figure it out. The truck started moving backward, going on the main street which went out of the city, and V sprinted through the ruins, keeping a safe distance from the street and other soldiers. The truck started catching up on him so he assumed there were no soldiers around and approached the truck. He was very fast, but he couldn’t keep it like that for long, he slowed down and reached the back of the truck and then, with all his power, he jumped inside the truck. V fell on a steel capsule, he didn’t make a lot of noise, but his hat fell off when he jumped.

“How, unfortunately...” V whispered

The weather calmed down very fast, it wasn’t snowing anymore, but the sky was the same. V sat for a while as the truck kept moving toward Palperroth, a city very close to the borderline between Vlatava and Bulgaria. The city is very known throughout the country since its the only place in Vlatava where you’re going to find a desert. The truck kept moving, and it didn’t stop, it had the same speed the whole time, while V was looking outside, at the resting snow. Everything was a vast and thin blanket of white snow, and up, the grey clouds were floating on the sky, while the light of sun slipped through them. It took an hour to get to Palperroth, the truck went through a tunnel, and when it came out, V jumped. The truck continued to move, as V went on a different path. On the white hills, a few unpolished homes were spotted together with spiky trees, there was a small school, brick roads, an old radio tower, and a huge mansion at the edge of the city. From the entrance, V started running toward the highest spot in the whole city, the radio tower which was located near the cemetery of Palperroth and the center of the city, but the entrance was far away from everything. There weren't soldiers at all, only their vehicles: armored trucks with machines guns on their back. There were also abandoned buildings like restaurants and hospitals and the only school in the city, it was like a ghost town at first sight, but there were actually hundreds of soldiers in that city. As V got deeper into Palperroth, he saw hundreds of soldiers, each one wearing tactical vests, combat boots, and helmets. They didn't look like terrorists at all, but more like a military force. V entered inside a wooden cabin and then peaked through the windows, the tower was near, but the soldiers were blocking his path and he couldn't take them all out. As he analyzed the zone he noticed that past the radio tower there was another mansion, smaller than the one from the edge of the city, but well guarded.

"How suspicious..." V mumbled, "I have to investigate that place... But first I need to get out from here."

V got out from the house by jumping through the window, he then crouched and hid behind buildings. He couldn't tell how many soldiers were there, and it wasn't possible for him to pass without getting seen by anyone, he needed a diversion. V hid behind the wall of the cabin and started whistling, nobody seemed to be attracted by the sound, until a guard passing by heard it and approached. V held his dagger and when the soldier was at the corner of the cabin, V pulled him very fast and then sliced his throat, then he searched him and found a fragmentation grenade.

"It was impossible for people like you to have one, " V whispered as he pulled the safety lever and threw it inside the cabin, "That should do it."

V left very fast and didn't look back while the primer of the grenade was detonated. The fuze burned down to the detonator and blew up. While everyone was yelling and running around, V reached the tower and went up on the metal stairs and when he reached the top he noticed that some wires were going down to the guarded mansion. He slid down on the wires using the fuller of the dagger and when he was close enough to one of the windows, he jumped and broke inside. V was inside an office, and seconds after he broke into the house, guards came in together with a man in a black suit.

"Long time no see," the man said as he pointed his revolver to V's mask

"Derek Almond..." V said

@glennis75 it's based on the graphic novel, and it's a few years after Norsefire was destroyed by V.

In this universe, V didn't die and Creedy and Derek were never killed, but instead, they ran from the UK with a small amount of Fingermen and took over Vlatava. They created the Forsaken and started a war between Vlatava and Bulgaria (why Bulgaria? i dOnT KnOw) to expand. Right now, they're being some d*cks to the civilians and only care about land and control.

Also, thank you for the like, I appreciate it and I'm happy to see that you like it.

Is this the old V, or the new V after the original V's death?

I watched the movie before reading the graphic novel, and at that point I was no longer interested in reading the book. But this is pretty cool!
