Pokemon OCs: Ekans OC

by limniris

limniris
█A melanistic Ekans. She was born in the Castelia Sewer system, where she hunted with ease due to her coloration. She didn’t know her parents and, being young and a carnivore, didn’t think to make friends. She was caught by a Trainer, purely for the rarity of her species and not her coloration (it was pitch black and the Pokedex, not being updated with melanistic pokemon, identified her as a normal Ekans). Her Trainer brought her up in a slightly pampered lifestyle, although she remained decent at battling despite this. She didn’t share her Trainers fascination with Pokemon Musicals, but she put up with the dress-up. Eventually, her Trainer moved to Hoenn and took her with them. There, they discovered Pokemon Contests, which were much more her style. In terms of personality, she’s not very prissy, but she can be nit-picky about her scales. She usually maintains a cool facade, but when angered she becomes snarky and deliberately intimidating. She’s very prideful, but is willing to back down from a challenge (albeit with a lot of dignity) if she thinks it’s not worth it. The only time she shows affection is when her Trainer pets her, but she won’t do it if strangers are around.

Fic excerpt:

Slithering across the ground, she sniffed the air. Sludge, muck, grime… there. The musky scent of a Rattata. She sneaked up to it soundlessly, and bit at the base of its neck. Easssy. Carrying her prey in her mouth, she curled up in a corner to eat. Nibbling at it delicately, she considered the other scents. Grimer were, sadly, inedible, and the Zubat relied on echolocation, allowing them to see her. Despite this, she had all the food she wanted. The mouse pokemon were plentiful, and she could strike them down so easily it was almost disgusting.

Something in the air made her pause. She recognized the scent, and wormed her way into a small crevice in the wall. Humans were best avoided, after all. Her black scales blended in perfectly with the grime-coated stone, but she sniffed the air again, just in case. There were two humans, and she nearly sneezed at the overpowering smell. Their heat signatures passed her by, and she peered out of the hole as they left.

Satisfied they were gone, she returned to nibbling her Rattata. She knew about how the humans (they were called Trainers) captured pokemon, and while the other sewer inhabitants seemed to think it an awful fate, she was so dreadfully bored she might consider it. Sniffing again in the direction the two figures had gone, she made up her mind and slithered after them.
