Rumi's Adventure: Eiden Saga chapter 4 - First Contact

by Spoiled Bread

Spoiled Bread I'm trying to write longer. But it is harder than I thought, lol :p
After roughly thirty minutes her shaking stopped. Rumi peeked outside her window, afraid of those so called Grim Reapers to suddenly appear in front of her house to take her life. But to her relief, there was none. She let out a sigh, releasing all those tension into thin air.

Now that the threat had gone. She focused her attention to the newly acquired pokeballs. Both of them just looks like ordinary pokeball. Although one of them had M written on it and the other one had a lot of bruises, as if Malvoy had carried this pokeball for quite a long time.

How these things work, I wonder?

Rumi never held pokeball before, but based on how Kariya and Kayla used their pokeball. The only thing that need to be done to summon the pokemon inside was press the button at the center of a pokeball. She pressed it and a beam of light stroke the nearby floor. At first it looks like lightning, but then the light starting to took some shape until at least the light faded and a pokemon was standing there instead. It is a cute pokemon that looks like a panda, or is it a panda?

HER. FIRST. POKEMON!! Rumi’s heart exploded in joy, well, not literally. But she couldn’t content her excitement and went to hug the pokemon. The pokemon, scared at the sight of a human that suddenly charge at him, instictively raised his hands and punched Rumi in the face.

Rumi whited out.

Rumi woke up on the floor. Her head was dizzy, probably because she hadn’t eat dinner yesterday, and of course that punch too. She touch her face, nothing broken it seems. All good. She then checked her kitchen for something to eat, and found a bowl of curry that was supposed to be her dinner, but she ate it for breakfast instead. Beside the curry was a small note from Aunt Joanna. ‘Don’t play outside after sunset!’ . She ate the curry quietly.

The panda pokemon was nowhere to be seen, so he probably went back to the pokeball. She picked up her pokeball from the floor and wondering what food this pokemon normally eat. Could she gave him the leftover curry? Or should she gave it something more natural, like berries? But hey, let’s just ask the pokemon himself. She pressed the button in her pokeball and let the pokemon out. The little panda startled and ran to hide behind one of the chair, his whole body shaking.

“Don’t hide, little panda! I’m friend! Not gonna hurt you. Mr. Malvoy gave you to me.” Rumi tried to spoke slowly to the pokemon while keeping eye contact, she added some gestures in case the pokemon didn’t understand human language. “What do you like to eat?” After some seconds of staring, the pokemon seems to relax a bit and stop shaking, but his stare was still wary. He opened his mouth like he would say something but then closed it and change his hiding place to behind the kitchen sink. Rumi was confused, what was she supposed to do?

Well, guess the only thing I can do is try.

She then prepared a small portion of leftover curry, some berries and cereal. She then put them all near the pokemon’s hiding place.

“Meal for you. Please eat.” She took some distance from the foods and waited. Minutes later, the little panda peeked from his hiding place. His hunger had defeated his fear of this little human he just met. He approached the foods carefully like its some kind of disguised bombs. He touched the foods, sniffed it, then ate the berries, the cereal, and even the curries voraciously. He ate like he had been starving for days! Rumi was happy with this development. She opened her refrigerator and took more cereals.

“Here, this all for you!” She opened the seal and pour the contents into a bowl. The pokemon quickly snatched the bowl and ate all the cereal. Rumi giggled in joy. She refilled the bowl with more cereal until the pokemon couldn’t stomach the food anymore.

“Are you satisfied? Hey, I’m Rumi, Rumi Rumialin. What is your name?” The pokemon looked at the human carefully. His wariness disappeared.

“chamo.” He replied with a high-pitched voice.

“chamo? Is that your name? Or your species name? I heard some pokemon can only speak some words that resembles their species name.”

“chamo.”

“Well, that’s not an answer. But who care? Can I just call you Chama?”

“chamo!” The panda pokemon aswered with a smile.

“I guess that’s a yes. Right, Chama?”

“chamo!”

“Great! We will be a great partner!” She smiled happily. Rumi then told the pokemon about the event the night before. Chama seemed confused, like he didn’t even know a thing about Malvoy. Rumi, oblivious to Chama’s confusion, then started to told him about her life. She told him about herself, what she likes and dislikes. She told him about her father, she hadn’t seen him since two years ago but he still sending her money every week. She told him about the good neighbor Aunt Joanna and her seven dwarvessons, whose her father paid monthly to take care of her. She told him about Poke Ranger and how she was a fan of Ranger Blaziken and their gigantic Megazoid, she even had the costume somewhere in her room.

The two of them then spent the rest of the morning playing marbles. Chama seems interested at how the marbles rolls on the floor, Rumi found it amusing and teased him by rolling dozens of marbles at once right at him. He chased after the marbles like a kitten and helped Rumi to collect them after they finished playing. After spending some time together, they felt much closer to each other.

“You know, Chama. I don’t know much about pokemon. So how about we pay a visit to the only trainers here so I can get some advise?”

“Chamo!”

“I guess that’s a yes. Let’s go!!”
