Cumpleanos Feliz, Mi Cielo

by Shiny Blue Gardevoir

Shiny Blue Gardevoir Kemen has a special birthday dinner planned for his coordinator boyfriend, Daniel, but a jealous fan of his is out to ruin it...
"How does this look?"

Kemen examined the cake before him with starry eyes. Not one crumb of the airy sponge beneath was showing through the icing, nor were there any palette knife streaks. Delicate whips of buttercream, blue yache berries, and a chocolate plaque, with, 'Happy Birthday Daniel' written on it decorated the top.

"It's perfect," Kemen said happily, as the man at the counter boxed it up for him, "He'll love this!"

He handed over the poke-euros he owed, before his cake was put in a bag, and he had his Honchkrow, Don, fly it home, before heading back out to the market. Kemen's boyfriend, Daniel, was visiting the Nita region in the hopes of becoming top coordinator, and today happened to be his birthday. So, he'd told Daniel to come to Fantasma Village after he was done with a contest in the next town over, that evening, so he could surprise him with a beautiful birthday dinner.

Kemen immediately went to a display of vegetables, carefully choosing his carrots, onions, and potatoes. Tonight's dinner was going to be perfect. Nothing less was acceptable, for his Daniel...

From a short distance away, a girl stood fuming, as she watched Kemen go about the market, proudly declaring to the vendor that the things he'd chosen were for dinner with his boyfriend.

The girl in question was Isabelle, and she had had a crush on Kemen ever since they were kids. She used to go to his school. He used to help her with her maths homework. She knew loads about him. She liked him, and she had been pretty sure that he liked her too, until he went on his journey to Kalos, met, and fell in love with some Unovan idiot, a.k.a, Daniel Diaz. It wasn't fair that he got to have Kemen, and she didn't! She deserved to have a big yache berry shortcake, with her name written on it, bought for her by Kemen. She deserved to have Kemen cook her a delicious dinner.

Isabelle watched as he headed away from the market, right into the village post office. He walked out a moment later, with a little black package from the Eire region.

Isabelle almost wanted to explode, right on the spot. She had to do something. She had to make sure that that dinner never happened, at least, for Daniel, but how?

And then, an idea popped into her head.

Kemen hadn't seen her in ages. He'd probably forgotten his feelings for her. So, she'd have to remind him...

She'd get all dressed up, and then go and confess to Kemen, just before Daniel was due to arrive. Then, maybe, he'd share the dinner, and the cake, and the present, and his feelings, with her, and forget about stupid Daniel...

Daniel was arriving in Fantasma Village in ten minutes.

Kemen had everything prepared. He'd had his Ninetales, Burn, light a candle in the middle of the table. Two bowls of cream stew, Daniel's favourite meal, lay on the table, still hot from the stove. Kemen had put on a touch of cologne, and changed into a nice, white dress shirt.

Kemen rushed to get the door, when he heard a knock on it, but instead of Daniel, he was greeted with...Isabelle.

"Oh, hey, Isabelle," he greeted, "Did you need something?"

She nodded. "There's actually something that I needed to tell you, Kemen," she began, "It's kinda big. Is it ok if I come in?"

Kemen shook his head. "Sorry, but no. I'm having my boyfriend over very soon," he told her, "So, unless it's a matter of life or death, it'll have to wait for some other time."

Isabelle was stuck, thinking of something to do, until she heard the squeak of a wheelchair behind her. Daniel was here.

"Sorry I'm a bit late," he began, as his lopunny pushed him up the path, "There was a bit of a rush coming out of"--

He stopped, mid-sentence, when he noticed a strange girl on Kemen's porch.

"Is this a bad time?" he continued.

Kemen shook his head. "No, it's perfect, babe. Come inside, I have a surprise for you."

Daniel had Lopunny push him forward, as he gushed about the surprise, before the strange girl stopped his wheelchair, and said, 'No'.

"Out of the way, Isabelle," Kemen ordered, "Let my boyfriend into the house."

Isabelle was really panicking now. She had no choice. She had to confess, right her and now, or else she'd lose Kemen forever.

"No, I won't," she said firmly, "Because, Kemen..." the words were on the tip of her tongue, but she struggled to get them out, "I like you."

Kemen was taken aback. He hadn't seen Isabelle in ages, and it was quite a shock for her to confess out of the blue like this, but nonetheless, he wasn't interested. And she was in the way.

"I'm sorry, but I'm seeing someone else," he answered, in a cold, almost sharp tone, "Now, get out of his way."

Isabelle still wouldn't budge, though. "Then, how about this? Daniel and I will battle for you!" she declared desperately, "Please, Kemen! Just give me a chance!"

Kemen shook his head. "I'm not some thing for you to claim," he said coolly, "A battle won't change the fact that I love Daniel, not you. You're acting like a stupid, desperate bitch."

Isabelle almost wanted to break down on the spot. But nonetheless, she kept going. Kemen was hers, not Daniel's, and she had to get him.

"Please!" she begged, "Please, Kemen! Daniel's a dumpy little cripple! You can't seriously love him, and not me!"

"But I can," Kemen answered, "Now, Isabelle, please go."

Isabelle ran away in tears, as Daniel rolled up to Kemen, taking his hands.

"Well, that was eventful," Kemen remarked, "Now, let's go inside, so I can show you that surprise, my love."

"Sounds good," Daniel answered.

And the two boys had a wonderful dinner together, before Kemen presented Daniel with a Claddagh ring.
