"Zodiac! Zodiac, wake up! Zodiac!" Zek nudged his brother as hard as he could. "What..." mumbled Zodiac, slowly getting up. "We have to go to the woods! We're gonna be late!" said Zek. Zodiac was wide awake now. He stumbled to his feet and ran out his window. Zek followed.

CHAPTER TWO:
Apprenticeship

Surely enough, Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos were all there, waiting for them. "Master Moltres, Master Articuno, Master Zapdos, we're so sorry we were late!" apologized Zek. "It is your first day, I will let it slide this time." said Moltres. "Now, allow us to explain how this is going to work."
"Each of your skills will be tested individually in multiple courses; such as your climbing ability, your battling ability, your bravery, your ability to dodge attacks, and your potential." explained Articuno. "Should you pass, you have the ability to travel to Poros Knight Guard Academy." finished Zapdos. Zodiac and Zek nodded at each other. "We're ready." they said in sync.

TRAINING MONTAGE INTENSIFIES
Zodiac was tested in his ability to dodge attacks. Moltres shot Embers at Zodiac, Zodiac got hit by all of them. Next, Articuno, hit him with a Blizzard, making him black out. Moltres and Articuno closed their eyes and shook their heads.
Zek was tested in his climbing ability. He still can't understand how he could climb such a smooth wall. Zapdos closed his eyes and shook his head.
Zodiac was taught how to dodge attacks.
Zek was taught how to climb smooth walls.
Within a few hours, both brothers knew what they were doing.
Moltres shot Embers at Zodiac, and he dodged all of them with Quick Attack. Then Articuno hit him with Blizzard, but Zodiac dug his claws into the ground to be prevented from being blown away, and his whiskers sparked to keep him warm. Moltres and Articuno nodded.
Zapdos led Zek to a smooth wall, and Zek jumped super high. Then he dug his claws into the rock as hard as he could. Little by little, Zek made his way up to the top. Zapdos nodded.
"You boys may not seem strong, but one day you will become strong members of the Poros Knight Guard. I believe it." Articuno nodded at her brothers. Her brothers nodded back. "You are both now officially apprentices of the Poros Knight Guard." said Zapdos. "YEEEES!" said the brothers in sync.

The next day, the brothers felt positivity in their hearts. Today was their first day on the job. "Shouldn't we ask mom first?" asked Zek. Zodiac nodded and they ran to where their mother was. "Uh...hi mom." said Zodiac. "Hello, boys. Is there something you would like to address to me?" asked Salamence. Zek shot him a look that said, YOU ASK HER! Zodiac nodded and sighed. "Mom, recently we've played outside. And we eventually came across this...thing. And that thing almost killed us. Then we--" Zodiac was interrupted by his mother. "You met up with a Shadow Zapdos and then Moltres and Articuno came to rescue you. Then they asked you to go there today and prove your worth to this battle school." The brothers' eyes widened. "How did you know?" asked Zek. "Parents always find out. I know this is what's best for you if you want to do it. So go do it." she said. "O-okay, thanks mom!" Zodiac ran out the door, Zek following him.

The brothers came across Moltres at a cliff. "All students must have a boat. Since you do not have one, I shall give you a ride today." he said. "Thanks Master Moltres." said Zek, and the brothers climbed on his back. Moltres flew off the island and towards another.

"We are here. PKG Academy." said Moltres. He successfully landed on the ground. "Lucky for you, today is the first day of school for many. Report the the field at the back of the schooltower." he said, pointing to a field. There were many students waiting. Zek and Zodiac walked up to it. "I don't have a good feeling about this..." said Zodiac. "OKAY, CLASS!" said a loud voice. There was an Exploud talking at his highest voice possible. "TODAY WE WILL BE PITTING POKEMON AGAINST EACH OTHER TO DETERMINE THE RANKS IN BATTLING! FIRST UP...KNUCKLES AND DWAYNE!" he yelled. A Pancham and a Geodude walked out of the crowd. "FIGHT!" yelled Exploud. The Pancham and the Geodude ran at each other, both ready to attack.

More names were called as the battles went on. "FLARE AND VAPOR!" a Flareon and a Vaporeon, both related. "OLIVIA AND LUCINA!" "DAISY AND ROSY!" "ROJO AND YELLOW!" and then, Zodiac heard his name called. Oh, crap! Now what do I do? If everyone finds out that I'm a terrible fighter, everyone will think I'm the laughingstock of this school! Zodiac's legs trembled as he walked up to the damaged stadium. "You can do it, bro!" whispered Zek loudly.

Blaze: Uh, looks can kill you know! (glares)
Zodiac: Right then.
Zodiac used Charge!
Blaze took 10 damage!
Blaze used Flame Charge!
Zodiac took 33 damage!
Zodiac: Ungh...I guess you're right on that one...
Blaze: Oh, I'm just warming up!
Zodiac used Thunder Shock!
Blaze took 9 damage!
Blaze used Fire Fang!
Zodiac took 39 damage!
Zodiac: No...problem...
Zodiac was inflicted with Burn!
Zodiac: Oh, if that's how it is, GG.
Zodiac fainted!

"Zodiac! Zodiac, wake up!" said Zek to his brother after badly losing. Zodiac's ears were ringing, and everything was rainbow and blurry. "Hey! Hey, are you okay?" asked a familiar voice. Zodiac slowly opened his eyes. The ceiling was pink. Everything was pink. "Oh! You're awake!" said Wigglytuff, the school nurse. "You seemed pretty out when Blaze here made you faint!" she said. Blaze looked down. "I'm sorry...I get a little...aggressive sometimes..." she rubbed her paw with her other paw. "No, it's fine, I'm fine. Honest." promised. "Are you sure?" asked Blaze. "Positive," replied Zodiac. "Good! You two made up! Uh, you've been asleep for so long...you've actually taken up the whole day..." Wigglytuff scratched the back of her head. "The kids are leaving now."
"Thank you, Mrs. Wigglytuff," thanked Blaze. as they walked out of the room. The trio walked down the stairs. "My name is Blaze. It's my first day here too, but my dad trained me to a pulp. That's why I knocked you out on the second hit." she explained. "My name's Zodiac. And I'm pretty weak..." he admitted. Zek snickered. Blaze giggled. Zodiac sweated. "Uh, I can take you in my boat since you don't have a ride..." Blaze offered. Zek saw this is a chance for Zodiac to suffer. "Yeah! I'm sure Zodiac's okay with it." said Zek. "Thanks! I don't have anyone to float home with..." she pointed to everyone getting in their boats with their friends. The trio got onto the boat. "Y-you don't have any friends?" asked Zodiac. Blaze started to row. "Well...no...my dad won't let me visit friends..." she explained. "I never had any in the first place."
Zodiac stayed silent. It would probably be best if he stayed out of it. "Right..."
The three stayed silent the whole trip. "Thanks for the ride." said the brothers in sync. "Your welcome. Anytime." said Blaze. Zodiac and Zek started to walk away. "Uh, wait, Zodiac?" called Blaze. "You can go, bro. I'll catch up." Zodiac told his brother. Zek nodded and scurried into the woods. "'Oh, if that's how it is, GG.'?" asked Blaze, starting to crack herself up. "You're funny, Zodiac! I'm glad someone at school can entertain me!" Blaze's eyes sparkled. "Uh, thanks! Er, see you at school tomorrow!" Zodiac started running into the forest. "You too, Zo!" she said. Zodiac ran through the forest as fast as he could. She called me Zo...a nickname... he shook the thought out of his head and tried to forget about it.
