Tim Wood marched into the Colosseum alongside Brent. He rubbed his Mega Keystone that was placed on his white Mega Bracelet. He had made sure to thank Professor Birch one hundred times over for the Sceptilite.
"So Tim, did you ever imagine you'd actually make it here?" Brent asked.
"I knew I would," Tim smiled. He looked around, seeing many trainers preparing for the Hoenn League Tournament. Whoever won the Tournament would advance to battle the Elite Four. If they managed to beat the Elite Four, they would battle the Champion. If they pulled off a victory against the Champion, they would be crowned as Champion of Hoenn. Tim recognized some of the trainers. Levi and Mary. Two trainers from the Verdanturf Tourney. The Tourney that started Tim on his journey. How fitting that he'd battle some of the same opponents from then. It all came around full circle.
"Tim Wood," came a nasty voice. It was Frank.
"You didn't call me Twig. Is it because I proved I can beat you even with your Deoxys?" Tim asked.
"I just forgot," Frank huffed, "Anyhow, I'm gonna kick your butt in this tournament. And the bicycle nerd too. I'm going to beat both of you."
"We'll see," Brent mused.
"It doesn't matter what you three do. Because I'm winning it all," Mary said.
"Nice to see you too," Tim smiled.
"This isn't Verdanturf anymore. I've gotten a lot stronger. Check it out," Mary said, letting out Shiftry, Electivire, Mismagius, Cacturne, Grumpig, and Medicham.
"I think it's safe to say we've all gotten stronger," Tim said.
"Hush," Brent said, "They're revealing the bracket."
Frank would battle first, against someone named Travis. Then Chloe and Jason, two trainers Tim didn't know. Then Tim would battle a trainer named Koro. After that, Levi would face a trainer named Ethan. Next would be Mary versus Louise. Following that battle would be Jerri against Harriet. Then Brent against Martin, and finally Drake versus Jesa. Tim hoped that he and Brent would get to the end, and get to battle each other to win. But he would have to battle Frank first. Tim hoped Frank wouldn't pose a threat. He'd beaten him once, in Sootopolis, so why not here?
Frank and Travis were whisked off, and the rest of the competitors filed into a special suite to watch the battle.
"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!" an announcer named Bobert boomed over speakers, "WELCOME! TO THE HOENN LEAGUE TOURNAMENT!"
The crowd cheered.
"NOW, WE WILL COMMENCE THE FIRST BATTLE! FRANK FROM VERDANTURF AGAINST TRAVIS FROM MALIE CITY IN ALOLA! BEGIN!"
Frank sent out Aggron, and Travis sent out Salazzle. Aggron used Metal Claw followed up by Iron Tail to quickly defeat Salazzle. Travis's next Pokemon, Linoone, didn't fair much better. Finally, on Travis's third Pokemon, Furfrou, Aggron was defeated. Frank sent out Crawdaunt to take down Furfrou. Travis used Komala next, but Crawdaunt took it out with Crabhammer. The same thing happened to Travis's Lopunny. Travis's last Pokemon, Blastoise, managed to defeat Crawdaunt, but Frank sent out Sableye to finish the battle.
"FRANK FROM VERDANTURF WINS!"
Frank sauntered off of the battlefield, and into the suite with the other trainers.
"I can take down trainers with only three Pokemon," Frank bragged to Tim, "How will you stand a chance against me?"
The next pair of trainers, Jason and Chloe, battled quickly. Chloe managed to beat Jason with only one Pokemon remaining. Next was Tim against Koro.
"NOW WE HAVE TIM FROM VERDANTURF AGAINST KORO FROM HAU'OLI CITY!"
"Go Primarina!" Koro called.
"Go Manectric! Use Thunder!"
Manectric roared, blasting Primarina with a lighting bolt. Primarina tried to get up, but Manectric quickly used Thunder Fang to defeat her.
"Return Primarina. Go Passimian! Use Close Combat!"
Passimian sprang onto the battlefield, and wrestled Manectric. Manectric used Thunder Wave to paralyze Passimian, then followed up Thunder. Passimian managed to use Karate Chop to defeat Manectric. Tim sent out Exploud, who defeated Passimian with Hyper Voice. Koro used Lycanroc (Midday) next, who defeated Exploud with Rock Throw. Tim sent out Sceptile. Sceptile defeated Lycanroc with Leaf Blade. Drampa was sent out by Koro. Tim quickly Mega Evolved Sceptile. Mega Sceptile slashed mercilessly at Drampa with Leaf Blade, until Drampa fainted. Koro sent out Trumbeak, who managed to defeat Mega Sceptile with Aerial Ace. But Tim sent out Mightyena, who used Thunder Fang to defeat both Trumbeak, and Koro's final Pokemon, Wishiwashi.
Tim retired to the suite, mentally exhausted. The next battle- Levi against Ethan, passed fairly quickly, with Levi winning.
