Chapter One

Älskar

Älskar originally thought himself as a simple, unimportant person. This was far from the truth. He was one of the few minors born on Earth, though he does not remember much. The country he was born in and his parents were from, Great Britain, if he recalled its name correctly, was one of the top countries, so many who lived there survived ‘the Destruction,’ as it was called. Älskar had dirty-blond hair that went down to the middle of his ears, and yellow eyes, which had become common, along with other colors that weren’t considered normal eye colors. He had an odd accent from his native country, for which he was mocked for by his ‘American’ classmates. The ‘Americans’ had an accent of their own, though they claimed their voices were plain and accent free. There were people from the other top countries, of course, with accents of their own, knowing the pain of being mocked by the ‘Americans.’ He was ten when the Destruction happened, eighteen years old now, but he had amnesia until he was eleven, when the inventors from a country called ‘Japan’ came up with an invention that scanned you for injuries, diseases, disorders, mental illnesses, etc., which cleared him of it. It didn’t clear him of a mental disorder he had called ‘ADHD,’ though, because it wasn’t considered a threat or a danger. Älskar did, however, have a bit of anger issues as well.

When they first arrived on New Hope, Älskar found a boy also from Britain mocking an Australian girl. He sort of stabbed that kid in the shoulder with a pencil. Älskar fell in love with that girl, soon finding out her name was Lasair. She had fiery orangish-red curly hair, grass-green eyes, and freckles on her cheeks. Sadly, though, she was found to have powers and sent to Earth to die when they were both fourteen….. Though extremely saddened by this, Älskar knew he still had his family. His mother, from Sweden, had named Älskar, Tyst and their dog; Hund, Swedish words. ‘Älskar’ means love, and ‘Tyst’ means silent. She named Älskar ‘love’ to show how much she loved him, and to remind him he is always loved. Älskar’s mother named Hund ‘dog,’ which always made someone chuckle, usually Älskar. She named Tyst ‘silent’ because when he was born, he originally didn’t cry, and when he did it was quiet. Tyst was rather shy, only speaking to his family and close friends. Tyst’s name developed a whole new meaning when Älskar’s parents were murdered. Tyst hasn’t spoken a word that Älskar knew of since then.

Älskar’s father, Edmund, was a great gentleman, yet goofy around his family and an amazing father. Älskar remembered his voice, sort of deep, reminded Alskar in some way of the gentle growl of Hund when Älskar tried to wake the German Shepherd and wolf mix. Gentle, with no hostility and a slight deepness. Älskar shared his father’s tall height, Edmund standing at six feet and five inches, whilst Älskar was about six feet and five inches. He remembered his father’s kind chocolate brown eyes, his dark brown hair, and how much he cared.

His mother’s name was Felicia, and she lived up to her firey name. She had an accent from her home country, Sweden. She was caring, fretting over each bruise and cut. About each grade, each test, bullies, fights, Älskar’s anger, Tyst’s shyness, the list would go on. Felicia was fierce when it came to protecting what she loved. She had straight, long dirty-blonde hair to her shoulders, was a bit short, which made Tyst short as well, and pretty pearl-grey eyes, the gaze from which was always soft and kind. She had the beautiful bird song. She had a music box which she gave to Älskar and Tyst, which she hummed along to along with Älskar’s dad, which always put him to a peaceful sleep when he was feeling sad or angry, or anything else. Tyst held tight to that music box now.

Hund was a fierce dog, fending off robbers and bullies that followed either of the boys home. He was all black with brown eyes, and usually wore a thick red collar. Tyst had amethyst eyes, and loved to learn things. He would sit outside at night, Hund by his side, along with Älskar, looking at the stars and the Earth. His shaggy brown hair sometimes got in his eyes, but he didn’t usually move the pesky bangs out of his eyes.

Älskar’s parents were simply walking through a farmer’s market with Älskar, getting some milk. Älskar was sixteen. Felicia got some goat’s milk, Edmund grabbed some cow’s milk. When they came back together, Älskar heard shouting of angry men. The police. They were running through the market their way. They stopped about five feet from Älskar and his parents. Felicia stepped in front of Älskar, and Edmund stepped in front of them both. The usual chatter and movement of the square stopped. One of the ten policemen simply brought out his gun and shot Felicia and Edmund. Älskar screamed in horror, trying to catch them, to save them, but he failed. They fell onto hard stone of the market, horrified gasps from the crowd, stifled sobs and angered screams from close friends. Älskar fell harshly on his shoulder on the pavement, ignoring the blast of pain. His mother was dead before she hit the ground, being shot in her heart. She had a calm look on her face, like she was sleeping. Edmund laid by her side, shot in the stomach, and grabbed her hand and held it as the light faded from his eyes. Älskar growled in pure rage, getting up and facing the policemen, his yellow eyes glinting with a loss of humanity and mercy. His lips curled in an insane, wolfish smile.

He had managed to kill six of the policemen. Four with his hands, pressing pressure points, snapping necks. He stole the gun of one and shot the other two, shooting the one who had shot Felicia and Edmund endlessly until close friends dragged him away and wrestled the gun from his hands. He had never killed, nor done any of those things in his life.

The odd burst of insanity and anger was a blur to him. He didn’t remember any of it, though a friend of his mother’s, Iris, told him of what happened. Iris looked after them after their parent’s death for a while, and she worried about them even more then Felicia did. She was kind and young, only about twenty-three. Iris was a brunette with kind blue eyes, and average height, an American who loved her homeland with pride. She, though, was also found to have powers when Älskar was seventeen. When Älskar turned eighteen, things went downhill……

They are on the moon. The earth became overly polluted, so the countries that survived combined their governments into one and colonized the moon. :3 @_Umbreon_
