"Sceptile! I choose YOU!"
Tim stood tall, staring across the battlefield at Wallace and Juan. He was ready to begin.
"Uh- aren't you going to send out a second Pokemon? This is a double-battle," Wallace stated.
"Oh. Shoot. Sorry."
Tim turned red in the face and sent out Manectric.
"A grass type and an electric type," Juan commented, "Tenemos nuestro trabajo cortado para nosotros."
"I agree," Wallace nodded, "Milotic! Dragon Tail!"
"Manectric- use Thunderbolt on Milotic!"
Manectric's eyes glowed with electricity. A bolt of lightning shot from Manectric's mouth and at Milotic.
"Dodge it Milotic!"
Milotic made a ring and the bolt went straight through. Milotic straightened out, and slammed its tail down on Manectric. Manectric looked up, and used Thunder. Milotic fell limp, shaking with electricity flowing through her.
"Return Milotic. Go Wailord! Use Blizzard!"
"Kingdra, use Ice Beam and add to the Blizzard," Juan instructed, "Ahora."
Ice pellets shot around the gym. Some bits of ice even hit Tim, bruising him.
"Manectric, electrically charge the ice pellets. Then Sceptile, use Leaf Tornado and direct them towards Wailord and Kingdra."Manectric used Shock Wave, and all of the pellets became charged with electricity. Then, Sceptile spun his arms at extreme speeds, creating a tornado. The tornado twirled through the blizzard, and shot the electric ice at Wailord and Kingdra. Both Wailord and Kingdra fainted.
"I'm out of Pokemon Juan," Wallace sighed, "It's up to you."
"Very well," Juan nodded, "Go Walrein! Use Body Slam!"
Walrein leapt into the air. The beast was massive. When it hit the ground, it trapped both Sceptile and Manectric under it. They both blacked out.
"Return Sceptile and Manectric," Tim said, "Go Houndoom and Exploud!"
"Now listen here Tim," Wallace said, "Since we used four Pokemon, it's only fair that Houndoom and Exploud are you last usable Pokemon in this battle."
"Alright," Tim said, "Houndoom! Use Inferno! Exploud- use Hyper Voice!"
Houndoom roared, and flames spread over the battlefield. Exploud screeched, directing all of the flames towards Walrein. Since Walrein was part ice and part water, the attack had normal damage.
"Walrein, use Ice Beam on Exploud!" Juan called.
Walrein shot towards Exploud, and froze her. Then, Walrein used Body Slam and knocked Exploud out.
"Return Exploud. Houndoom- it's all you."
Houndoom looked to Tim for an order. It never came. Tim was leaving it up to Houndoom. Houndoom grinned. He eased back, then charged forward. Upon reaching Walrein, Houndoom flipped over the massive walrus Pokemon. Then, Houndoom use Fire Fang, and flung Walrein across the battlefield. He then rushed over, and used Flamethrower to knock out Walrein.
"What a battle!" Juan beamed, "¡Fue emocionante!"
"Thank you for that thrilling battle Tim," Wallace smiled, handing Tim his final gym badge. The Rain Badge. With this, Tim could enter the Hoenn League. If he won the tournament, he would face the Elite Four. If he beat them, he would battle the Champion. Then, if he beat the Champion, he would become the Champion of Hoenn. And Infinexus would find him worthy. Tim could rescue his father.
Suddenly, the ground shook. Tim looked at Wallace and Juan, confused.
"Strange, we don't usually have earthquakes here," Wallace commented.
"Times are a-changing Wallace!" a voice cackled. A moment later, a man in a red and blue suit burst through the front of the gym on a Torterra.
"Terre?"
Tim was shocked. The last time he had seen Terre, the man had been bleeding out in Mauville City.
"I can transform into a giant rock beast, remember?" Terre laughed, "A little bullet isn't going to do me any harm."
"Team Gaea will never take over the Hoenn Region," Juan said sternly.
"Silly Juan," Terre sighed, "We already have."
Wallace, Juan, and Tim all looked through the hole in the wall that Torterra had created. People in brown suits were patrolling the streets, with guns in their hands.
"But- how?" Wallace asked, bewildered, "I was only getting groceries earlier this morning! It couldn't have gone south so quickly."
"We've had members undercover for months," Terre grinned, "Now we come out from the shadows. We will rule the world!"
"Well that's nice and all, but there are also the other regions. Unova. Kanto. Sinnoh. Johto. Kalos. Alola. Places like that."
"They won't matter when we sink them," Terre shrugged.
"So you're planning on sinking the other regions?" Tim asked. His jaw dropped.
"Correct," Terre nodded, smiling, "Problem?"
"Several," Juan nodded.
"We'll stop you," Wallace said.
"You can't," Terre laughed, "See we only came out of the shadows when we were ready to begin the endgame. If we revealed ourselves earlier, we might've been defeated. But now, the Submerger is ready to be activated. It will shoot extremely active plasma over the ocean floor, tearing through the foundations of the other regions. Without any foothold on the seafloor, the other regions will sink, leaving only Hoenn. Then, if we rule Hoenn, we, technically speaking, rule the world."
"That's actually not a bad plan," Wallace admitted, "But it still won't work."
"Yes it will," Terre said. He then picked up a handheld radio and said, "Activate the Submerger."
"Houndoom! Use Inferno!" Tim yelled. Houndoom roared, sending dark blue flames towards Terre and Torterra. Terre closed his eyes, and transformed into a giant rock beast. He walked through the flames, unaffected. He kicked Houndoom out of the way, and picked up Tim between his thumb and index finger.
"Ha," Terre laughed in a deep voice, "I remember when you and your father thought you had defeated me. And now, I've won."
"Not yet!" Juan growled, "Go Whishcash! Use Water P-"
Terre stomped down on Juan and Whiscash. Tim shrieked. Terre lifted his foot. Juan was...
Juan was dead.
"Juan!" Wallace sobbed, running over to his mentor, "Juan! Come back! Don't die!"
"I won and you lost," Terre guffawed, dancing around, "I won and you lost!"
The ground rumbled. The Submerger had been activated. A shock wave of plasma shot out across the ocean. First, islands off the coast of Hoenn sunk. Then, other regions such as Sinnoh and Unova sunk. The rest of the regions soon followed.
"It is done Master Terre," came a voice through the radio.
"MWA-HA-HA!" Terre boomed, "Team Gaea has won!"
"Go Milotic!"
