The Eroteric Odyssey: Chapter 9: The Guardian of the Forest

by PokeStorm

PokeStorm Dimrill and his friends make their way through the Ilex Forest. We learn a little more about our protagonists, and they even encounter the unexpected. Dimrill also learns a little about his past, but unfortunately not enough to fully understand who his parents were.
The three of us entered the magical Ilex Forest and were immediately amazed by the environment. The trees were on either side of the path and they seemed to give off a moonlight aura, which lit up the main trail. The path was naturally lowcut grass, with beautiful flowers of assorted colors to enhance the scenery.

"Wow, this is amazing," Jenny said. "I've never seen anything like this."

"But you live in the town right next to the forest. How did you not see it?" Mark said, confused.

"Mama always told me it was too dangerous to go alone," Jenny responded.

"You're not much of a rebel, are you?" I asked.

"It's a complicated story," Jenny said, trailing off.

I thought for a minute. "Now I'm almost curious. But if you don't want to talk about it, no biggie."

There was silence, so I just assumed it was a touchy subject. I decided I would ask her about it later. As we hiked through the forest, a few bug Pokemon scurried by like Ledyba, Weedle, and even a Paras. One trainer was trying to catch a Venipede, but one of the rangers of the forest stopped him and told him he had to get a permit from the Azalea Gym. We decided that we didn't need to go all the way back to town just to catch some bug Pokemon. Besides, Mark already had a Butterfree, so he probably didn't need another bug for a balanced team.

Shortly after passing the trainer and the ranger, we came across an older woman meditating alongside her Alakazam. Her eyes were closed, so she didn't seem to notice us. But just as we walked in front her, she spoke, causing all three of us to jump. "Greetings children," she said softly. "I can read your fortunes, but for a fee. Just ask a question, and I will answer it using the Future Sight. With the power of Alakazam and myself, we can see into the deepest secrets of the future."

Jenny placed five Pokedollars into her clay pot. "Will I find what I'm looking for on my journey?"

The old lady thought for a minute in silence. "If you stand together with your new friends, you will certainly find the true meaning of friendship. However, finding friends is a good path to your dearest ambitions." Jenny blushed, then motioned for one of us to take a turn.

Mark gave her money and asked, "What is my purp- "

The old lady interupted, "Hello chosen one. Your path is very clear. You will become the savior to all the Pokemon out there in the world, and save them from the cruelty of humans and restore their home once again. How you will go about that is up to you. As you already know, the lord Arceus will appear before you once you are ready to harness his power. One thing is for sure, I can see great things in your future, Mr. Erickson."

I hesitantly put money in her pot. I wanted to ask her a deep question, but I didn't know what to ask. I wasn't sure what my dearest ambitions were, or what I wanted to achieve in my life. I was still young, and I hadn't really given much thought about it. Fortunately for me, I didn't have to ask anything, because apparently the old lady knew what I wanted to know, even though I didn't.

"I sense a lot of pieces missing in your life, Mr. Roos. You wish to learn more about your parents. You are looking for someone, but you don't know who or why. But one is for sure, the person you are looking for you have already met. They will help you find your past and everything you don't understand about the world. But I will let you find out who that is."

At the time I thought she was talking about Bella, because we knew everything about each other, and she had already promised me she would help me. But ever since we broke up I hadn't really thought about it much. Would she still keep to her promise? Did she forget or lose interest? Will I ever see her again?

Mark gave me a funny look, so I assumed he was thinking the same thing I was about Bella. But we thanked her and headed further down the trail.

I wanted to ask Jenny what her ambitions were, but again I didn't want to make her uncomfortable, so I let it go. As the trail turned notrh according to my compass, we heard a Pokemon cry out in fear. We all stopped. "That was an interesting sound," Mark pointed out. He addressed Jenny, "Is that a usual sound around these parts?"

Jenny thought for a minute and sprinted off into the bushes. Mark and I looked at each other and agreed that we should follow her. We ran though the bushes and caught up to her as she was running. "Do you even know where you're going?" I exclaimed. She didn't answer. And that didn't matter, because we stopped in a clearing with six Team Moon grunts surrounding a green levitating Pokemon, who was definitely in fear.

"Leave Celebi alone," Jenny yelled at the grunts. They turned to face us.

"Of course not," the leader said. "We will be taking Celebi to the past to get rid of the champions. If we get rid of the champions, they can't stop us."

"How do plan on stopping them?" Mark asked.

"Simple," he responded. "We kill them before they can get any Pokemon or make an impact on anyone."

"Wait. Hold on a second," I said, holding up my hand like I was declaring a time-out. "This is Celebi, the mythical guardian of the forest and the time traveler? This is it?"

The woman, who apparently was the second in command, was not amused. "You're really slow for even an okay trainer. Anyone who has to process things at that speed, need to be taken care of by mama."

I was furious. "You take that back. And you keep my mother out of this." Even though I had no idea who my parents were, I still had the emotions to protect them and not put them down. But if they insulted my Aunt, I would pulverize them with my bare hands.

"Anyways," the leader said slowly. "We will travel back in time about thirty years ago and prevent the champions of all the regions from ever starting their Pokemon journeys. So that would be, if I remember correctly, Red, Gold, Brendan, Dawn, Hilda, Rosa, Calem, and Selene. As long as they can't get in the way, no one can stop us. Not even the Master Trainers."

We gasped. If they got Celebi and used its power, Ethan Gold would not exist, and as he was my idol, I couldn't let that happen. We needed to stop them to save him, and all the champions.

I pulled out a Pokeball and released Shinx. "You'll have to get through us if you want to get to Celebi."

"Wait a second," another grunt said. "Aren't you three the ones who beat us at that berry grove? Let's get them."

Everyone sent out their Pokemon at the same time. It would be an all out battle, and I will say it was probably the craziest battle I've ever been in.

Jenny, Mark, and I sent out all our Pokemon in order to defend Celebi, which consisted of Shinx, Charmeleon, Eevee, Mudkip, Riolu, Butterfree, Flaafy, Zubat, Ponyta, Bulbasaur, Pidgeotto, and Vulpix. Team Moon sent out their Pokemon, which seemed to be a lot tougher than our Pokemon. The four Grunts sent out their Pokemon, which were mostly Dragon Pokemon like Dragonair, Fraxure, Tyrunt, Kingdra, and Altaria. The second-in-command sent out a Dragonite, and the leader sent out a Tyranitar. The three of us looked at each other and realized we stood no chance against these powerful opponents. Just as the fight was about to commence, a flying Pokemon swooped by us. All of us were dumbfounded as to who that was. But then it returned and dropped a man in his thirtys. He grabbed a Pokeball off his belt and returned his Pokemon - a Togekiss. He looked very familiar.
He faced the Team Moon members. "If you want to get rid of me, you must defeat me in battle, fair and square. One trainer against another. That is how the title is earned. Simply erasing me from the past won't change anything. It will just bring another Champion to rise above all other trainers. Lord Celebi has shown me that much."

The Team Moon goons were jawdropped. "It's ... It's you," one of the grunts finally managed to say.

"Yep. And I'm here to kick some Moon ass," he said. I can tell this man was a very experienced trainer, maybe even worthy of becoming Champion. But I couldn't think of who it was, mainly because he kept his back to us. He released his six Pokemon - Typhlosion, Sunflora, Politoad, Togekiss, Tyranitar, and Sudowoodo. He then said to us three, "Let's take care of business here."

So the two teams of trainers sent their Pokemon into battle. Riolu, Bulbasaur, and Sudowoodo squaded up on the leader's Tyranitar. Flaafy, Shinx, and Mudkip teamed up on Kingdra. Pidgeotto, Butterfree, and Eevee went up against Dragonair. Charmeleon, Tyranitar, and Typhlosion fought Altaria, while the other Pokemon attacked Fraxure and Tyrunt. With this mysterious trainer by our side, the tables had turned. Within a few minutes of intense fighting, which I would explain the play by play, but unfortunately I don't remember the whole fight. My attention was on Eevee for the most part, because she had the toughest matchup. So I monitered her and gave her healing items to boost her stamina as well as my other Pokemon who leaped out of battle to get healed. Eevee took advantage of her diverse moveset and paralyzed Dragonair with Buzzy Buzz, then burned it at the same time with Sizzly Slide. As Pidgeotto swooped down and slashed Dragonair repeatedly and Buttterfree confusing it with pink waves of energy, Dragonair couldn't keep up with its opponents.

As Dragonair collapsed, I saw a white flash of light and one of the Pokemon began to glow and grow in size. I couldn't tell which Pokemon was evolving, but I soon found out when a Luxio emerged from the glow. I was very surprised. Shinx had told me in the past that he didn't want to evolve. But here we are now. Anyways, back to the battle.

After about what seemed like an hour or two, the battle was finally over. None of Team Moon's Pokemon remained standing. Most of our Pokemon were badly hurt, but the mysterious trainer's Pokemon didn't seem to have taken much damage. As Team Moon stood speechless, I noticed Celebi had been meditating silently off to the side, and it blasted Team Moon and their Pokemon away through the trees. At last, they were defeated and they were nowhere to be found.

The trainer recalled all his Pokemon but his Togekiss. He sprayed a pink potion on Togekiss and turned to us. The man looked about in his early thirties, wearing a peach colored robe over a red sweater and blue jeans. He wore black shoes and a very familiar black and gold hat. after noticing the hat and his bangs on his hair sticking out of his hat, which was worn backwards, I figured out who had helped us with the battle.

"Mr. Gold???" I exclaimed. "You're, woah, it's uhhh, a pleasure to meet you sir."

Gold held up his hand in protest. "Jeez man, I'm not a god or anything. I'm just me. Call me Ethan. Just because I'm the Champion of the Indigo League, doesn't mean I'm a celestial or anything like that."

I stood up straight. "I'm sorry, I just got really excited there for a second."

Thankfully, Mark changed the subject to cover up my embarrassment. "So, Ethan, what made you come over here?"

Ethan's eyes lit up. "Well, Blue told me he sent two trainers on a journey through Johto to collect Gym badges. And Silver told me he met them in the Ruins of Alph accompanied by a female trainer." Pointing and Mark and I he concluded, "So you two are the trainers from New Bark Town? I could almost recognize the way you're dressed and your posture that you came from there. After all, that's where I grew up in my younger years."

"So," he continued. "I have a small gift for you three. This is for your bravery when standing up to Team Moon. Not many people have that courage. And consider this an encouragement to continue on your journey." He reached into his bag and pulled out small black boxes that looked like those velvet boxes that jewelry comes in when you buy it at those fancy high-priced stores. They were closed shut by some sort of unknown force.

"Yeah, probably should have mentioned that," he said. "The box will open when one of your Pokemon is capable of using it."

"So it's an item for our Pokemon?" Mark asked.

"Not exactly," he responded. "But you'll understand when the time comes."

"Why can't you just tell us what's inside?" Jenny questioned.

"If I told you it may go into the wrong hands and be misused. I will trust that when you and your Pokemon are ready then you will be prepared." He paused. "Well, if that's all the questions you have for me, I shall bid you adieu." He then mounted his Togekiss and flew off into the distance.

"Why do they all have dramatic exits of the scene?" Mark said, scratching his head.

Jenny looked up. "It's starting to get dark. We should probably find the way back to civilization." She then turned to Celebi, who levitated peacefully nearby. "Excuse me, but which way is the way to Goldenrod City?"

Celebi didn't respond in words, but instead released many hands made of energy to grab all of our Pokeballs and heal our Pokemon to full health. Then Celebi created a path through the trees that allowed the plants nearby to glow like the moon. Celebi nodded with approval then teleported away.

We stood there in silence for a while, dumbfounded by the sudden turn of events. Then Jenny finally broke it. "We should follow the path before it disappears," she concluded. We then followed her through the trees for about fifteen minutes or so until we reached the north gate of Ilex Forest. We all sighed with relief and opened the door just as the security officer was about to lock the door.

"Well aren't you three out late?" The guard said cheerfully. "Tell you what. Recently some suspicious people have been spotted around these parts, so why don't you stay here for the night? Another guard will be taking my shift in about twenty minutes. You all should head upstairs to get some rest. Sound good?"

As a matter of fact, the offer sounded so good that I didn't even bother to protest. I was really tired, and by the time we headed upstairs, we all released our Pokemon out of their Pokeballs and we fell asleep almost immediately. But the dream I had that night was something worth mentioning.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I was in a bedroom of some sort. But the funny thing is, the size of the room and the layout of the door and the window reminded me of my room in New Bark Town. But there was a woman laying on the bed. She had light brown hair and she appeared to be pregnant. Then someone was knocking on the door. "Hestia? It's me. Can I come in? I have lunch."
The woman, who must have been named Hestia, called out, "Come in."
A woman, probably around her mid twenties, opened the door, carrying a tray with a delicious looking sandwich with ham, cheese, and plenty of vegetables, cut in half, just like how my Aunt Cassie used to make them. Unfortunately I had a bad angle and couldn't make out who it was. But I could tell that the lady had long straight black hair. "How ya feeling girl?" she asked.
"Alright, but I'm scared of what will happen when he finds out. I've kept this little one hidden for a long time. I don't want my child to suffer the consequences of his father," Hestia said, worried.
The lady responded, "You always assume it will be a boy. But we don't know yet. We just have to stall a little longer. Once the child is ready, we can hide it from him until the child is ready to know the truth."
"But where should we hide this? If he finds out he will check everywhere we could think to go. He's a very clever man, and I can't keep up."
"I talked to Lyra, and she said she can take the child until the time comes. Clay will never guess that his child could be hidden right in plain sight."
"But Cass, I'd feel more comfortable if I left it with you. I trust you more than anybody. After all, you're my sister."
Suddenly there was a loud knocking on the front door down stairs. "It's him," Hestia said. "We have to let him in. I will do my best to hide the baby."
The balck haired woman walked out of the room and closed the door behind her.
