Landon had finally made his way into Jubilife City before slumping against a nearby building wall, "Man, I just wanna find a Pokemon Center so I can stop walking!" Landon whined as he got up.
"Well it took you long enough to reach this point," a familiar voice told him, Landon turned and saw Roy was standing there, "I assume you want to challenge a gym as soon as possible," Roy smirked as he reached into his pocket and took out a badge, "This is Oreburgh City's Coal Badge, take in the sight while you can, because this is the last time you'll ever see it."
"And why's that!?!" Landon retaliated angrily.
"Because you won't win at that gym, if you can't beat me what chance do you have?" Roy smirked again.
"Yeah well I've gotten much stronger than the last time we battled!" Landon yelled as he took out two Pokeballs sending out Mizu and Bronz, "Mizu's gotten stronger and I've captured a Bronzor!"
"Really?" Roy smiled, "You're still nothing but a disgrace to all who call themselves Pokemon Trainers," Roy threw four Pokeballs into the air releasing a Grotle, Gligar, Scyther, and a Loudred.
"Hey you're Turtwig evolved into a Grotle," Landon commented in amazement as he took out his Pokedex, "Grotle, the Grove Pokemon: The shell is hardened soil. Some Pokemon come to peck the berries growing on the trees on its back." Landon looked at the Grotle in amazement.
"If you were a sensible and actually decent trainer, you'd have lot's of Pokemon in their stronger stages of evolution," Roy taunted Landon as he recalled his Pokemon, "Good luck getting 8 Badges, you'll need it."
Landon clenched his fist in anger, Mizu and Bronz both turned to him with concern, "Roy! Let's battle!"
Roy chuckled, "Alright, let's do a one on one like before then," he replied as he took out a Pokeball. Landon and Roy found a nearby battlefield located behind a Pokemon Center. "Scyther, get out here now!" Roy threw his Pokeball with force, a green mantis-like Pokemon with blades for hands burst out of the Pokeball.
"Scyther, huh?" Landon asked himself as he took out his Pokedex and scanned the Pokemon, "Scyther, the Mantis Pokemon. Its claws are sharp as swords, and it is a powerful flyer. This Pokemon is rarely seen by humans and almost never captured." Landon put his Pokedex away and began thinking of which Pokemon to use, "Alright Bronz, let's go!" Bronz burst out of the Pokeball.
"Scyther, use Fury Cutter!" Roy ordered, Scyther dove in and began swiping rapidly at Bronz, dealing major damage, "Each time Fury Cutter is used, the attack becomes stronger."
"That's going to cause us some trouble," Landon muttered to himself, "Use Flash!" Bronz glowed a bright white light that blinded Scyther, "Now Gyro Ball!" Bronz nodded and began spinning quickly as it slammed into Scyther dealing lots of damage.
"You won't take that, Fury Cutter again!" Roy ordered again, Scyther dove back in and began using Fury Cutter back to back.
"Fight back with Gyro Ball!" Landon ordered in response, Bronz spun again using Gyro Ball as a counter against the Fury Cutter, blocking the attacks.
"X-Scissor!" Roy yelled, Scyther crossed it's blades as the glowed a green color as it dove towards Bronz. Scythe slammed against Bronz with X-Scissor, knocking it out.
"Bronz!" Landon yelled as he ran and grabbed the defeated Bronzor, "You were awesome, take a rest," Landon recalled Bronz when he noticed Roy walking over to him.
"You are still nothing more than a disgrace to all Pokemon Trainers!" Roy yelled at him before returning his Scyther, "Maybe instead you should become a coordinator."
Landon was furious at Roy but at the same time he couldn't help but feel sorry for letting his Pokemon down. Landon walked back to the Pokemon Center to have his Pokemon healed after his battle with Roy. Landon sat on the nearest couch and contemplated what Roy had told him.
"I guess I could give it a shot," he told himself as he got up to get his Pokemon. Landon walked up to the desk and talked to Nurse Joy, asking if there were any Pokemon Contests nearby.
"Actually, there is a Pokemon Contest in Jubilife City, and this one has an egg as a prize alongside the ribbon you'll earn," she answered as she handed Landon a tray with his Pokeballs on it. Landon took back his Pokemon and left to check out the Contest.
Landon arrived and was surprised to see all of the trainers standing around with their Pokemon. Landon walked up to the registration desk and was quickly registered, he was also given a ribbon case, a small pack of seals, a seal case, and his entry pass.
"Good luck in the contest," the receptionist told him, before he left to get prepared.
"Ladies and gentlemen welcome to the Jubilife City Pokemon Contest!" the announcer announced, she then introduced all of the judges, "Now here we are with our first coordinator, from Twinleaf Town, it's Landon!"
Landon ran out onto the stage holding a Pokeball that had a heart-shaped seal on it, he looked at the crowd and was a bit nervous to begin, he had no clue what to do, "Alright Mizu, let's go!" Landon called out as he threw the Pokeball up. Landon stood for a moment not knowing what to do for his first move.
"Landon are you alright?" the announcer asked him as she walked over. Landon shook his head nervously and whispered that he had no clue what to do. "No worries, all you need to do is show off your Pokemon in a fabulous way," she explained before walking off.
Landon looked at Mizu who nodded, showing that it would trust Landon's judgement 100 percent, "Alright then Mizu use Bubblebeam to fill up the stadium!" Landon shouted, Mizu leaped up and began firing Bubblebeam to fill the whole room with bubbles. "Now Mizu over here!" Landon signaled for Mizu to run towards him, he grabbed Mizu and threw him up onto the nearest bubble, "Now use Peck!" Mizu began bouncing from bubble to bubble, using Peck to pop them as well. Mizu landed with Landon as they both took a bow, the room was now filled with blue particles that slowly fell to the ground.
