Rocket Base Advenchas!: Chapter 4, Perspective: Leaf

by Cloudswift

Cloudswift Leaf and Lyra finally make it to Mahogany Town. But can they get into the base and save their friends? Sorry for not posting this for a while...:'|
We’re running to the address that Bill tracked Red’s XTransceiver. I stop in front of the building. “Here it is… but it’s a souvenir shop?” I wonder if Bill had gotten the address right for a second. Then I wonder if I’m going slightly insane. Of course Bill got it right. And if he didn’t, then it won’t hurt to check, just to make sure.

“Apparently so,” Lyra says, skepticism in her voice. I look at her, concern etched on my face.

“We have to try. Who knows what they could be doing to Red and Blue?” I ask. “Please.” She can obviously hear the pleading in my voice and nods. For good measure, we both take out a Pokemon. I bring out Venusaur. Lyra calls out a Pokemon called Meganium, a green dinosaur looking Pokemon with yellow antennae and a large pink flower around its neck. We go through the door, and our expectations are surpassed. Not only is the place completely inconspicuous, but it has so many bookcases filled with cheap knicknacks that it would be incredibly difficult for your average Joe to find any entrances to a hidden base. But Lyra and I aren’t your average Joe.

We tell the clerk, who looks incredibly anxious, that we’re looking for something to take home for our parents from our travels. I head over to a bookcase on the other side of the store. It’s filled with plush Teddiursas and mugs with pretty generic messages on them. As I’m sifting through a shelf filled with pink and green Teddiursas, I notice something. A button. I pull something from the shelf. A purple plush. “Hey, Lyra,” I call to her, “My little cousin back home in Kanto might like this. What do you think?” She comes over to me.

“It’s cute!” She says. Then she mouths ‘Did you find anything?’ I nod.

“This one’s cute too,” I say. I pull one out from where the button is.

Lyra sees the button and lets out a girlish “Squee! Adorable!” to cover us. Unable to resist any more, I press the button. My face turns into somewhat of an evil grin as the bookcase slides over and opens into a sleek gray hallway. The clerk pulls a microphone.

“I-Intruders!” He says into the device. I can hear alarms sounding in the hall. Not wasting any time, Lyra and I both pull all of our Pokemon. I bring out Lapras, Gyarados, my Shiny Arcanine, Pidgeot, and Ninetales. Lyra brings out a Togetic, Ampharos, Fearow, Jumpluff, and a Ledian. We both run down the halls, shouting Red and Blue’s names. By now, many Rockets are chasing us, but determination keeps us going. Determination to find our friends and bust them out of here. Then we see the cells, and I almost recoil with surprise. Giovanni has certainly done his worst here. Blue’s auburn hair is singed in places, and even messier than normal. He sees me and runs to the bars, wincing with every time his foot touches the ground. I can see that he’s hurt.

“Leaf!” He shouts, “Help!”

I chuckle. “I never thought I’d hear you say that,” I say as Ninetales starts melting the bars off. Lyra runs to the cell too.

“Gold!” She says. I notice the other Trainer in there.

“Lyra! You’re okay!” He says. There is a clang as the bars fall off, ends charred and melted. Arcanine has gone to work too, and soon Red and some “Dragon Master Lance” are free. By now, Venosaur and Meganium are starting to get pushed backwards by the Rockets. I look over to Red.

“Cover me?” I ask. He shakes his head.

“They stole our Pokemon,” He explains. I sigh.

“Fine, I’ll go without cover,” I decide. The Rockets are closing in fast, and I’ve only got one shot. If I succeed, Red, Blue, Gold, and Lance will be saved. If I fail, well, I decide not to think about it. I run straight into the fray, Pokemon behind me, and make a mad dash for a door. A Thunderbolt attack whizzes by my ear, causing my hair to stand on end. I try to ignore that as I slam into the door. I try to open it, but it doesn’t budge. There’s a Raticate behind me. I realize that it’s running towards me, probably to attack me, and move out of the way. The oversized rodent Pokemon crashes into the door, knocking it down and knocking itself out. Inside, there are four devices on the table. XTransceivers. I grab them, and see something else. It’s a box. I look back and see that most of the Rockets’ Pokemon are gone, probably returned to their Pokeballs after being defeated, and run over to the box. I gasp in surprise. There are Pokeballs in here. I pick up the box and get out of there.
