Pika woke up slowly. "Ugh... my head hurts..." he said. Next thing he knew a big, fluffy tail was in his face. "Morning, sleepyhead." she said. "Let's move. We're gonna miss Roll Call!"
"Roll call!" Chatot said. "TREEKO!" "DRILBUR!" "Whismur!" "GOLETT!" "CRANIDOS!" "KADABRA!" "MEOWTH!" "EMOLGA!" "PIKA!" "VEE!" "Alright, everyone's here." Chatot said. "Before you head off, we have an announcement. You may have noticed the strange boxes. Well, each of you will have your own chime to play to gain assistance. I will tell you all individually." After learning their chime, Pika and Vee decided to head upstairs. They hopped on the lift and the gears pulled them to the top.
Arriving at the top, they saw Drilbur putting up some papers on the Bulletin Board. The explorers dashed over to take a look.
Mission: Capture Weavile's Dark Claw!
Job giver: BMM Police Force
Description: Weavile is the leader of a dangerous gang called the Dark Claw. He and his lackeys; Zangoose, the brawn of the team and Sneasel, Weavile's right hand; are under 40 charges of assault, 20 charges of theft and 50 charges of resisting arrest. They must be brought to justice!
Threat level: High
Bounty: 6000P
Pika and Vee almost shouted with shock. "WEAVILE'S GANG?!" they exclaimed. They were certainly surprised. "No one else here knows how to take them on like we do." ("Treeko." "Well, yes...") Pika said. "We have to take this bounty." Vee sighed. "Fine." she said. "But I don't think this is a good idea." The normal-type ripped down the posters, putting them in her satchel. "Let's go." she said. The two friends then dashed off.
Entering town, Pika saw one of the bell-boxes as well as a Gazebo. He decided to play the chime. Once the music rang out, it coursed throughout the city. Soon, two Pokemon were dashing to the Gazebo. They were Bulba and Pachi, coming to help. "We heard the chime!" Bulba said. "We thought it might be you!" "We need some help gathering information about Weavile's gang." Vee said. "Think you can help?" "Right away!" Pachi said, dashing off. Bulba followed. "Let's meet at the Gazebo again at ten!" he said, following his little friend. "Let's get looking." Pika said. The two of them ran off in the opposite direction to Bulba and Pachi.
They soon found what they were looking for. With the combined efforts of the two teams, they managed to find enough information to tell them that Weavile and his lackeys had business in the Hyumadan desert, and probably a base. Pika and Vee told their friends that they could handle the rest on their own. Pachi was sad, but Bulba understood. While Pachi was distracted by a berry stand, Bulba came over to them. "I understand why you don't want us coming. It's too dangerous for Pachi to come, and I'm just too slow to be of much help. That said, take this." Bulba handed Vee a slip of paper. "It's a ticket for the S. S. Unity, a ship that takes you between the Erudes region and the Lake continent. I have a feeling you'll need it later. It's a ticket for two. Take it with you." The explorers nodded their thanks and accepted the gift. Pachi returned, and the explorers parted with their friends at the south gate.
Vee panted under the heat. "It's so hot out here." she said. "How can Pokemon stand it?" "Ground, fire and rock-types can." Pika said. "And I assume Water Pokemon can survive by creating their own water to drink." "So smart, aren't you?" Vee said. "Wait, look! SHADE!" This was not a mirage, but still didn't seem quite right. There was a random cave in the middle of the desert. The entrance was surrounded by rocks, and it was filled with cold air. It seemed like a miracle. Vee and Pika ran over to the cave, practically leaping inside. It was so cool! The mouse crackled his cheeks with electricity to light the room. "Vee..." he said. "I think we just stumbled into a Mystery Dungeon."

At the seventh and final floor, Pika and Vee discovered a beautiful room full of crystals just like the ones in Caledonia Crag. They were the source of the cold air, moisturizing the entire Mystery Dungeon. "Cool." Pika said. "Pun intended." Vee sighed. "Let's just search for clues and book it out of this sandy inferno." She said. However, Pika saw the danger before she did. Pika tackled her, bringing her to the ground. The powerful Shadow Ball attack whizzed right past their heads, exploding against the sturdy crystal walls of the bottom floor. "Why is it that whenever I'm onto something big, you two have to ruin it all for me!" Weavile said. Zangoose, still enraged had smoke coming out of his nose. "YOU. ARE. DEAD!" he shouted. "THE RAT IS MINE!" "I suffered humiliation at the hands of that Eevee." Sneasel said. "I will kill her myself." "I'll leave you boys to it." Weavile said. "Don't let them get past to me! I need time to extract the Tablet." "Tablet?" Vee asked to herself. "Whatever it is, we can't let them get it!" "Then let's rumble!" Pika said. The four combatants rushed at each other, primed for combat.
Zangoose tried to slash at Pika, but the nimble mouse easily dodged. He knew he had to finish this quickly, so he didn't even try to taunt. Tripping Zangoose, he used Volt Tackle to send the normal-type into the wall. The warrior growled... until he saw the Electro Ball coming towards his face. Pika ran towards Weavile, the explosion behind him.
Vee immediately went defensive. She used Double Team, and then Quick Attack. Sneasel had learned, however, and spun in a circle. The clones dissipated, leaving some space between Weavile and Vee. I can't get in close without being spotted. Vee said. In that case, I won't get close at all! Vee activated Swift while still running, making it look like the attack was coming from all directions. Sneasel was confused and battered by the barrage. The dark-type fell to its knees, and Vee finished him with Quick Attack. The girl then dashed off to help her friend.
Weavile carefully cut off the final chunk of crystal. "Finally." he said. "The Ember Tablet." Weavile then drew his claws as he saw he was surrounded by both Pika and Vee. The two stared at the gang leader. Weavile attacked Pika, but was stopped by Vee. He then went for the girl, but was met by Pika's Iron Tail. When one defended, the other attacked. They were in perfect synergy. Weavile barely held off Pika by himself, but both adventurers at once was something he couldn't handle. Pika tripped him, and the last thing he saw before losing consciousness was a double Iron Tail combo.
Pika and Vee smiled. They had finally defeated Weavile and his lackeys. They were exhausted, but they had won. Vee went over and picked up the red tablet Weavile had dropped. "Huh. Look at this, Pika!" The two looked at it closely. It seemed to be in an ancient language. It was in a weird shape. It resembled a third of a circle. "We shouldn't show this to Chatot." Pika said. "Agreed." Vee responded. "This is best kept secret." They picked up the tablet and began to haul the criminals out of the Mystery Dungeon.
The explorers had met a friendly Hippowdon who would help them to the edge of the Hyumadan desert. They even got a free ride from the nice Pokemon! Once at the edge of the ruins, they were met by Commander Magnezone. "YOUR ASSISTANCE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED." the robot said. He and his Magnezone began to air-lift the convicts. Pika could swear that he heard Weavile growl. The two started to head back to the city with the bounty after saying 'thank you' to the Hippowdon.
Returning to Lagross town, they found Bulba and Pachi waiting at the entrance. "I assume you got them?" Bulba asked. "Of course they did!" Pachi said. "They're the best!" The three more mature Pokemon laughed a bit. "We did actually catch them all!" Pika said happily. "But we couldn't have done it without you." "Aw, shucks." Bulba said. After sharing the news and greetings, the partners departed back to the guild.
The lift came to a hault as Treeko and Drilbur were waiting for them. "Come on! Supper's starting soon!" he said. The two other Pokemon climbed onto the lift as Team Shining dreams went to report the news.
"Now, everyone, DIG IN!"
"Crunch-munch! Chew-chew! Sniffle-slurp! Crunch-munch! Chew-chew! Sniffle-slurp! Crunch-munch! Chew-chew! Sniffle-slurp! Crunch-munch! Chew-chew! Sniffle-slurp!"
After the meal, Pika was thinking and Vee was sorting out the money. "Okay, I've got all the cash sorted!" she said. She then saw what Pika was looking at. The bag with the tablet in it. "What do you think it's for?" he asked Vee. "Not sure." Vee responded. "But that's a question for another day. Let's hit the hay."
"Hey, Pika?"
"Yeah, Vee?"
"I have weird feeling about that tablet."
"A weirder than those crystals gave us?"
"Yeah... it just feels like it's radiating immense amounts of power."
"Well, it looks like a shattered tablet. I wonder where the other pieces are?"
"Well, we can't find out just by thinking about it. Good night, Pika."
