Carios Adventures: Ch. 2: First Encounters?

by Crimson Sun

Crimson Sun A small , but necessary bit of filler here. It's been definitely a while since I've posted, but with more time especially with quarantine, I might as well use this time to update for fun, even if not a lot of people may read this haha!
Again, all credits are given to @rjamez.the.v and his crew on Instagram with PKMN SS & AG.

Hope you enjoy if you read this and/or critiques could be much appreciated!
Side note: There should be links attached to show what the Pokemon and characters may look like.
The trio of trainers made their way through the first route, the route between Tibalt Town and the first upcoming city, which is surprisingly not that far of a walk from the small country town. It would take about a day or two perhaps, but none of them were in no rush.

“I wanted to ask you both,” Crimson asked, finding a small conversation starter for the trio as the walk was kind of quiet for a while, not accounting how all three starters and Crimson’s Eevee were enjoying themselves a few feet ahead of their trainers. “Did you come alone? Or did you guys bring any other Pokemon along?”

Emerald perked first. “Oh! I feel so bad, I completely forgot about Ralts,” the female stated, immediately rummaging through her backpack to pull out her Pokemon’s Pokeball. With the Pokeball finally resting in her hand, Emerald released her Pokemon out of the ball. With a bright red flash, out appeared the Feeling Pokemon. With it’s mint green head and pink horn sticking out the front and back, the Ralts appeared before the three trainers and their Pokemon.

“Ralts, I’m so sorry sweetie,” Emerald said, immediately picking up the short Pokemon and coddling the Pokemon within her arms. The Ralts only muttered a small ‘ralts’ as if it was saying that it was still quite displeased. Quite a moody Pokemon if you asked Crimson, but he doesn’t judge...at least not out loud. “Well, this is my Ralts that I brought along from Kalos. What about you Kelvin?”

The male trainer only huffed in response and shook his head. “This is actually my first time journeying so I don’t have any Pokemon on me right now,” Kelvin commented, with the other two just nodding their head, understanding Kelvin’s situation. “But I always wanted to try to become a member of the Elite Four, and hopefully Slugob would be my first step to getting there.”

Crimson couldn’t help but perk up at the mention of the Elite Four. “So would that mean you would focus your team on water types then,” Crimson asked, pointing to Kelvin’s Slugob. “Usually Elite Four members would have a main type they use right?”

“Well, yes, but also no,” Kelvin replied, leaving Emerald and Crimson both completely confused. Luckily for them, the lad continued his explanation. “I want to be one of the few Elite Four members to have a themed team, not just basing my team off of a singular type.” Kelvin picked up the Sea Slug Pokemon and examined it closely. “Just based on him already, maybe I could have a team based off Atlantis and have Water, Ice, and maybe Steel? I don’t know exactly, but I’m positive I can figure it out along the way.”

Crimson smiled at Kelvin, liking the way the guy thought about his future already. “What about you Emerald, why are you focused on Pokemon Showcases,” Crimson asked the female, wondering if her thought process was the same as Kelvin’s.

The performer only looked at both Crimson and Kelvin, before turning back to her Bunnalope, who hoped along with Eevee and Coburnt, as well as Ralts who had appeared to become less moody and decided to socialize. “Umm, honestly,” Emerald started off. “I’m not really that great with Pokemon Battling, I don’t like the idea of Pokemon hurting each other for fun. Although I do really enjoy performing and presenting the beauty of Pokemon. I can tolerate other people battling, but I just can’t do it myself. So I went with Pokemon Showcases.” Emerald stated as if it’s the most obvious thing in the world.

“Any reason why you chose to do both contests and gyms,” Kelvin asked Crimson in return as he got to ask both him and Emerald a question.

Crimson only shrugged in response, not really knowing how to answer that question. “I mean,” Crimson started off unsurely. “I always enjoyed doing battles, but I also really liked Pokemon Contests, it’s just a unique version of Pokemon Battling, except with more pizazz to it.” Crimson picked up Eevee, interrupting her socializing with the others. “Isn’t that right Eevee, we’re gonna rock both gyms and contests.” Eevee, understanding where her trainer is getting at, cheered enthusiastically with a small ‘Eve-’ before Crimson placed her down.

While they walked on their way to the first city, where Emerald had informed the two males that both a contest and gym is being held there, a woman walked out of the bushes and into their pathway. She had a short black dress on, the length only reaching up to to her upper thigh. Her brown hair was tied up to a messy bun with the exception of her bangs. In high heels and a pastel yellow cardigan, she looked up and saw the trio staring awkwardly at her.

“Oh, I’m hi,” the lady started off awkwardly before walking up to them. “My name is Varash and do you think you can help me out a bit?” She reached into her purse pulling out a singular object. Kelvin looked at her warily, while Crimson watched her, a bit suspicious while Emerald seemed quite interested in the object itself.

“What is it,” Kelvin asked, wanting to ensure it was nothing dangerous. The object in her hand seemed quite absurd. It was like a black ore, but it held red crystals atop of it, sticking out in a random manner. Emerald slowly stepped forward to take a closer look at it as the object was so interesting to her.

“This is known as a ‘Cursed Geode.’ But despite its name, it is known to bring good luck and fortune to trainers who travel with it. My father found some of it and said it would be valuable to children like you,” Varash explained. She approached Emerald and softly grabbed her hand and placed the object into the performer’s palm. The Cursed Geode felt cool to Emerald and was quite smooth contrary to it’s ragged look. “I hope you take care of it and father would be pleased that you have accepted it.” Then as quickly as she introduced herself, Varash disappeared quickly heading towards the other direction of where they were walking.

Emerald watched as the Cursed Geode glistened in her hand as a ray of sunlight. The bush rustled again, making all three trainers turn their heads towards it, wondering if it was Varash again.

Stumbling out of the bushes this time was something different. A canine-like Pokemon stumbled, looking lost. It’s fur was quite dark, almost like a dark grey. Adorned on it’s head was some sort of head piece of blue and yellow and a single red jewel centered on the headpiece. The Pokemon looked at the three trainers, tilted it’s head to the side a bit with a small whine. ‘Pha-Pharo’ The Pokemon said.

Crimson quickly pulled out his PokePod to scan the uniquely found Pokemon. The familiar female voiced out almost immediately: “Pharoli, the Hound Pokemon. Pharoli tends to stray alone, independent from its pack at its early stage. When it evolves, it will form its own pack to create their own territories.”

“I’m catching this,” Kelvin said with determination, not letting Crimson and Emerald have an input.

“Wha-” “Hey” Both Crimson and Emerald exclaimed at Kelvin’s claim.

Before they could even explain more, Kelvin just shrugged and said, “You both already got two Pokemon, and I only got one. So I’m catching this Pharoli.” Kelvin said, not allowing anymore room for complaints.

“Okay Slugob, use Water Gun,” Kelvin initiated when putting the Sea Slug Pokemon down. Slugob blasted a stream of water that hit Pharoli directly, getting it’s fur and messing it’s headgear.

The Hound Pokemon brushed off the Water-Type move and rushed it with some quick speed and hit pretty hard against Slugob, though the Water starter brushed it off pretty quickly as it was quite a bulky Pokemon.

Right as Pharoli came in for another Quick Attack, Kelvin called out the next move. “Slugob, use Growl!” The Sea Slug let out a snarl, albeit more so a frothy growl than anything, causing Pharoli to slow down it’s Quick Attack and hit less hard.

“Go in for another Water Gun,” Kelvin called out as another stream of water blasted Pharoli. The Hound Pokemon laid on the ground, getting washed away pretty hard from the Water Gun. Kelvin used this chance to throw one of his few Pokeballs. The monster ball sucked in the Pharoli with a bright red flash and dropped to the ground. Suspensefully, the ball shook. One time. Stop. Second shake. Stop. Third. Stop. And with a soft click, it was clear that the Pharoli was captured.

“That’s that I guess,” Crimson said, complimenting Kelvin’s newly captured Pharoli. “Nice catch and battle.”

Emerald on the other hand kept the Cursed Geode oddly close to herself, as if she was slowly being lured by it’s uniqueness. She snapped back to reality when she noticed both Kelvin and Crimson calling her for her attention. “You good,” Crimson asked, to which Emerald promptly nodded and quickly put the Cursed Geode back into her bag.

“Let’s keep moving,” Kelvin mentioned. “It’s going to get dark soon and we should set up camp.”

Returning all their Pokemon back into their Pokeballs, with the exception of Eevee because Crimson wanted to keep her out in his arms, the trio of trainers kept moving along the route, not noticing a woman staring at them from the back. “Looks like Varash did her part,” she muttered to herself. “She would definitely do.” The woman walked away headed towards the same direction to where Varash was headed.
