Back to the Darkness: BTTD Chapter 3: Camp Connors

by Silvermist599

Silvermist599 Mikey and Kara find Noah's old camp in the colorless world and realize a hard truth about what Colstrom has done to their colorless doubles. Will they be able to find a cure? Find out as the colorless saga continues.
“Hey, Kara, where are we going?” Mikey asked as we ran into the woods.

“I don’t know.” I replied with a sigh as I carried the me from the colorless world. “We obviously can’t go to any of our houses because that’s where they’ll expect us…” We kept running through the dead forest and eventually reached the coast where we stopped.

“Woah, what is this?” Mikey asked as we came out into the open. There was some kind of make shift blanket mattress there as well as a campfire and some sealed cans of food. Things were written in the sand, but waves had washed some of it away. However, what really stood out was a map carved into a tree. It had four symbols on it. Three of them were grouped together inside of a box; a sunburst, a paintbrush, and a winged shoe. Those normally wouldn’t mean anything, but they were the symbols that we had always used to represent Mikey, Nate, and I whenever we wrote something. What was more was that a fourth symbol was drawn further away. Noah’s symbol, the splintered pencil.

“Noah must have used this place to plan his rescue attempt for colorless Nate, Kara, and Mikey…” I said, pointing to the carved map. “They must have been captured for a while.” Mikey nodded as we looked at our colorless copies.

“Let’s set them down here.” Mikey said, motioning toward the blanket that was set out. We set them down and sat on the rocky ground near the fire pit. “What now?” Mikey asked, biting his lip as he looked around us. “Should we just go back home?” He asked. Suddenly, both of our counterparts stirred and sat up suddenly, their eyes shooting open as they stared at us blankly. However, something was wrong. Kara’s red eyes and Mikey’s brown eyes were both green and their stares were blank and creepy. Whatever Mr. Colstrom had activated with that chemical of his was stopping all mental processes.

“Hello? Kara? Mikey? Can you hear us?” My Mikey asked, waving his hand in front of the colorless’ faces.

“I don’t think they can.” I said solemnly. “We have to find a cure for this before we go back, because I’m not sure if they could survive the transport back to our world in this state. They’re minds are seriously messed up.

“Okay, so that’s our new goal?” Mikey asked.

“Yeah, looks like it.” I said, looking at the blank stares of our doubles. “We’ve got to get the cure, and to do that…. we’ve got to go back to the school.”
