Back to the Darkness: BTTD Chapter 2: The Escape

by Silvermist599

Silvermist599 The second chapter of Kara and Mikey's adventure. Will they be able to save their doubles?
“Come on, let’s go!” I whispered quietly to Mikey.

“Go where?” He franticly whispered back.

“I don’t know, out maybe?” I snap at him.

“Okay, geez. What I was asking is how do we get out of here, he’s still in the room next to ours and that’s the only way out of this room.” He whispered reasonably.

“Well, we just wait for him to leave, and then we go” I whisper back. “I’m going to go look and see if he’s gone.” I said before climbing out from underneath the desk. I stood up and quietly tip toed toward the window. Through the window I saw nothing except the alternate forms of Mikey and I still chained up.

“Okay, he’s gone, now we need something to get through our alternate’s chains. Like a key or…”

“Metal dissolving solution?” Mikey asked from behind me.

“Well, yeah, but there’s no way we’d be able to get that in here.” I said, still trying to think of another option.

“Turn around.” Mikey said flatly behind me. I did so and he was standing there holding a bottle labeled “metal dissolving solution” and my jaw dropped.

“Where did you get that?” I asked.

“We’re in a chemistry lab.” He said, rolling his eyes. “He has all kinds of weird stuff and I was looking at the labels instead of listening to you for most of it.” At first I was frustrated, but then I realized that he’d just found the solution to our first problem.

“Come on.” I said, going through the door to Mikey and mine alternates. “But be careful when you pour it on the chains, because it could probably melt their skin off.”

“Got it.” He said before following me. He first went to Colorless Kara Andrews, the me from the colorless world. He poured a tiny drop of the solution and the cuffs around her wrists melted away. I grabbed her as she fell and held her up. I picked her up and I heard sizzling as Mikey freed his colorless double.

“Come on,” I whispered, pointing to the window that Noah had broken to get inside.

We quickly climbed through it, getting outside with our doubles and running into the forest as we began to hear voices in the room we just came from.

“Guards, you’d better find out where they went!” A voice shouted. It sounded familiar…
