Back to the Darkness: Back to the Darkness Chapter 1: Wishes Do Come True

by Silvermist599

Silvermist599 The first chapter in the thirst installment of the Noah Connors saga. This one focusses on what happens to Mikey and Kara when they are put into the colorless world alongside their colorless selves.
“I would like to see what it’s like in the world Noah’s from.” I said wistfully. Mikey and I were holding onto the sunburst necklace while Nate worked on the mask, but suddenly, I bright flash erupted before my eyes.

Oh, I’m Kara by the way, Kara Andrews. What led us up to this point? Well, I’m not entirely sure, but I do know that my friend Noah Connors got replaced with some monochromic copy from another world. Mikey, Nate, and I eventually befriended him when he discovered that our principal, Samuel Colstrom, was behind it all and had something even worse planned.

To try to stop him, the four of us made a plan: we would have Noah try to distract him while the other three of us snuck in and ruined his plans. It seemed to be working, because we got into the office, but then the bright light hit us.

Anyway, now that you’re all caught up, let’s continue.

So I woke up in Mr. Colstrom’s secret office sometime later, but there was something… off… about it. Everything was in black and white. I looked up and saw that the office had electronic parts in it instead of chemistry equipment.

“Uh, what happened?” Mikey asked groggily from beside me as he sat up. He then looked around. “Holy Colorlessness!” He exclaimed. “We’re in Noah’s world!” I nodded silently. This wasn’t good. I looked around the floor and saw that we still had the necklace and grabbed it. It was probably how we got here and was definitely going to be our way home. I was about to start trying to wish us back home before Mikey said. “Kara, come look at this.” The horror on his face let me know that this was serious. I walked over and what I saw shocked me.

It walked over to the window and saw Mikey Jones and Kara Andrews chained to the back wall. They were unconscious and it didn’t seem like they were hurt, but what was really bad was Nate. Nate Moral was standing, his hands shackled above his head. His eyes were out of focus, but he seemed awake, but I don’t think that was a good thing. Green bolts of electricity ran through his fingers every few seconds and there was a huge gash across his forehead. Blood was dripping down his face. It was awful. “We have to help them.” Mikey said and I nodded my agreement.

Suddenly I heard the sound of a window shattering and I quickly dragged Mikey under the desk with me. “Hide now, help later.”

Moments later, Noah Connors, in a black and white outfit, raced in. He ran over to Nate, but the lock shocked him. He then bandaged Nate’s forehead with one of the sleeves of his shirt. I was about to walk out there, but then Colstrom walked into the office. He picked up the microphone from the intercom and said. “Okay, Noah Connors. Hero from the world of color.” Then it hit me; this was our Noah. This is what he’d been dealing with? Mr. Colstrom’s voice over the intercom shocked me out of my thoughts as he said. “You’ve had your fun, messed with my plans, but it’s over now. Just give yourself up. I’ll let you go free and even exclude you from me plans. Just hand over the necklace.”

Noah looked directly at the speaker and without hesitating he shouted “Let my friends go, you can have me, but let them go free. Otherwise I’ll use this to teleport out of here.” He sounded confident, but I knew Noah well enough to know that he was bluffing, and it seemed like Colstrom knew it as well.

“Hah, you don’t even know how to use that. And besides, it’s too late for your friends, soon they’ll only be mindless playthings for me, can’t you see it. Can’t you see how Nate’s eyes are already fading. It’s too late, the process has already started. You’re too late.” That seemed to knock Noah’s confidence down a peg and he simply walked over to Nate and grabbed onto his wrist, as if checking his pulse. “Give I up, Connors,” Colstrom continued. “You can’t save him, and you can’t save the others either.” He said impatiently.

“No, you’re wrong.” Noah said defiantly. “I will save him.” He said, not letting go of Nate. “I will get home, and I will be back to face you.” He said and a blinding flash of light filled the room and when the light cleared, Noah and Nate were both gone..

“No! That’s Impossible!” Colstrom shouted before running out of the secret lab and into the room where Noah and Nate disappeared from.

At that moment, I realized what we needed to do; we needed to free the colorless Mikey and Kara and find a cure for whatever he’d done to them.
