A World Without Color: AWWC Chapter 15 Part 2: The End of The Beginning

by Silvermist599

Silvermist599 The last chapter of this segment of Noah's story. What you'll likely see next is the story of colorless Noah fighting to survive in the bright world of color. Keep a lookout for it!
I was outside the school a few minutes later. It was late at night, so school was out, but unlike the last time I was here, I didn’t need to be discreet.

Standing at the side of the building, I punched through the glass of one of the windows. I climbed in, navigating the hallways of my school, before reaching the principal’s office. I tentatively opened the door and found something I was not prepared to see.

The first things I saw were Mikey and Kara. Both of them were shackled to the back wall, seemingly unconscious and unharmed. However, that wasn’t what was bad. The horrific part of it all was Nate. Nate’s hands were shackled above his head, forcing him into a standing position. His eyes were open, but seemed out of focus, and every few seconds bolts of green lightning would run through his fingers. He had a huge gash on his forehead, blood running down his face. It was horrible.

I ran over to Nate to free him, but when I touched the lock, it shocked me. I didn’t know what else to do, so I settled for now to just tear off one of the sleeves of my shirt and tie it around the gash on his head to stop the bleeding.

With new resolve, I began to look around the room for a way to free then, but I wasn’t having any luck.

After a while of futile searching, I got an idea. I opened the small box from Mr. Colstrom’s house and took out the sunburst necklace inside. I ran back over to Nate to see if it would help, but before I got there, alarms began sounding and the doors to the office all locked.

“Okay, Noah Connors. Hero from the world of color.” Mr. Colstrom’s voice rang over the intercom. “You’ve had your fun, messed with my plans, but it’s over now. Just give yourself up. I’ll let you go free and even exclude you from my plans. Just hand over the necklace.” He demanded.

I looked at the speaker that his voice came from and didn’t even have to think before responding. “Let my friends go, you can have me, but let them go free.” I shouted. “Otherwise, I’ll use this to teleport out of here.” I bluffed.

“Hah, you don’t even know how to use that.” He said flatly. “And besides, it’s too late for your friends, soon they’ll only be mindless playthings for me, can’t you see it. Can’t you see how Nate’s eyes are already fading. It’s too late, the process has already started. You’re too late.” He gloated.

I turned to look at Nate. He was in bad shape. He had gotten dangerously thin and his irises were indeed almost white. I walked over to him and grabbed his wrist, careful not to touch the lock.

“Give it up, Connors. You can’t save him, and you can’t save the others either.” He said impatiently.

“No, you’re wrong.” I said defiantly. “I will save him.” I said, not letting go of Nate. “I will get home, and I will be back to face you.” I said, and suddenly, a bright flash enveloped my vision. Everything faded to white and I went unconscious. The last thing I heard was Mr. Colstrom shouting “No!” Impossible” as my consciousness slipped away.

I woke up sometime later. I opened my eyes and had to squint at the brightness around me. The bright yellow sun was way too blinding and the grass was way to green and shiny. Wait. Yellow? Green? I franticly looked around myself and saw that I was in my own backyard, in my world, and colorless Nate was with me. I quickly picked him up and took him inside, bringing him into my room. I got fed him some crackers and got him to drink some water, but it didn’t seem like he’d wake up for a while.

I decided to look around the house. My mom wasn’t home, so that was good, I wouldn’t get any weird questions about what was going on. However, I noticed something else: my orange hair dye had been messed with since I’d been here, and there was a colorless uniform in the closet. Then it dawned on my; my colorless self had been here while I’d been gone. But where was he?

Suddenly the front door opened with a crash and I ran toward it, not knowing whether it was friend or foe, but as I turned the corner, I crashed into an orange haired boy with bright blue eyes and we both fell to the ground. The small black boxes we were both holding fell, and a ripped picture came out of both boxes. Together, it showed me and this new boy holding one of the necklaces. Wait, no. It showed me and another me holding one of the necklaces, and sure enough, when I looked up, I saw Noah Connors staring right back at me.
